Casa de Uscoli

Be very careful about Uscoli. I'm shocked that there are so many positive reviews, but if you read them carefully, you can tell that it is highly likely many are "planted." We experienced very little of the friendliness touted in these other reviews. After much careful research, and years of saving for this trip, I booked a room for a few nights at Almaviva House. In November 2005 we visited Venice and stayed at the charming Casa de Uscoli. It was the perfect weekend. Some highlights of the Casa ....The view from our window of the Grand Canal the church and Guggenheim opposite. The paintings on the floor. The photographs of the horses. we stayed for three days in this wonderful private house at the canale grande.Our host was very nice and helped us with good informations about tourist sights and restaurants.The room was very clean,huge and very tasteful furnished.It was as being a venetian inhabitant.We loved it and we will come back.

We have just returned from a 4 day visit to the wonderful city of Venice. Casa de Uscoli was a most charming place, we took over its 4 rooms to celebrate our father's 70th birthday, the setting could not have been better with fantastic views over the Grand Canal. We had no hitches, water taxis were there to collect us at the hotel (pre-arranged with Arkadius the manager) and the owner (Alejandro) recommended several wonderful spots in the city. I was in Venice several times and every time thinking in stay on the Grand Canal. This was my best experience in Italy. Grand Canal and breakfast in the hall overlooking it: just experience to do it!!! Don't come if look for tv in room or other things we have at home. This is kind of dream in VEnice.

ignore the reviews from terrified Sheraton-goers- the entrance hall and stairs are knackered and worn in the most glorious way. the contrast, once you get in the place, is delightful- a huge foyer which becomes a modernist breakfast area (fun 60's chairs, enormous daybed), which looks out onto the Canal, and gets the sun right through the huge windows, with (standing-room width) balcony. service was EXCEPTIONAL- extensive consultation about romantic and good quality restaurants. Bello, bello, bellissimo. I will say bellississimo. Ideal location for see venice from the best point of the Grand Canal: just in the fron of Guggneheim Collection and Accademia bridge. Fantastic. If you you think to be in VEnice, just do it...
