the hotel was brilliant i went with my boyfreind in october and it was still really warm the pools and the service their are amazing but the entertainment really let me down i was back in the hotel by like 10.30 of an evening so it can be boring but you can take a taxi into the town centre for around £6 we only went for a week and it was just enough we went scuba diving quadbikeing through the desert to meet the bedouin people and of course snorkeling wich most people wher doing it was fantastic i would reccommend it.

As far as the saying goes " you get what you pay for ".My wife and I SPENT 11 NIGHTS in this hotel and I CAN HONESTLY SAY I got more than I PAID for.The location, facilities, layout and food excellent and I AM A FUSSY EATER.The service etc. was excellent and will be back in October.People COMPLAIN of cold food, in some cases this is true because the lids are not closed after serving themselves. The rooms are large and maybe the furniture is a little dated along with the bathroom decor which might not be to everyones liking but as far as we were concerned it was OK.The staff are very polite and obliging. As for the Russians so what they probably say the same things about the British. Had no hassle FROM ANYBODY.Some people have said the food was repetitive but how can it not be with so much choice.

hotel very clean and suite (as standard)very inviting. The grounds are very well maintained and staff could not be more helpful.
Facilities are very good and the restaurants try to give a varied selection of food.
The barbecue that re-opens every evening at 23.00.hrs. is ideal and is cleaned by the chefs between the evening meal and re-opening.
There is a 24hr.bar but I did not see it abused while we were there .On the whole we could not fault this as a holiday hotel complex.
The one major problem I feel Thomas Cook may have is that since their merger, their fleet of aircraft is not big enough and we had to travel on a "sister"aircraft from Birmingham. No problem with this as long as the standard is the same.
It was an Egyptian airline with no headphone facilities,no entertainment,no in flight sales and no alcoholic drinks!!
We had one drinks trolley in 5hrs 30mins and by the time they had got to us there was a choice of water or mango juice.! No veg.meals but the steward did offer to take the meat off !
Be warned! Be prepared!
After all that the holiday did make up for it even though the return jouney was the same

My partner and i had a fantastic time in this hotel, the rooms were adequate for our needs, the cleaners did a brilliant job of cleaning our room and making sure everything was up to scratch. all staff were friendly and helpful they could not do enough for us. the food was nice especially the italian and barbecue and a nice change from the main resturant. we also met some great people, although the evening entertainment wasnt up to much there was still a good atmosphere which made the nights enjoyable. be careful at the shops on the hotel complex the owners would keep you there talking all day if you could especially if you have blonde hair. a poor girl who was there at the same time as us was constantly bothered by the shop owners, also the hotel photographer seemed to take a shine to her and tried to take photos of her at every opportunity he got. so beware if your are blonde but dont allow this to ruin your holiday as overall it is a lovely hotel with helpful and friendly people. we also visted naama bay several times, the key is to just say no thank you to the locals on the street as they will harrass you and try to take you to their shop or bar, dont be fooled when they offer free gifts theres always a con somewhere along the line. hardrock cafe was pleasant, pacha bus stop was also nice as you could sit outside for a drink. little budda very good but drinks were quite expensive. snorkelling at ras mohammed is amust and wuad biking in the desert was good fun, ask adam who sits in the hotel reception he'll sort a trip out for you. cleo park was also quite good and a change from sitting around the pool. there is a free shuttle bus throughout the day to and from the private beach, the beach isnt sandy its more gravel. however it is nice to sit on the jetty and watch the fish and look at the coral. i will defiantely be returning.

The best holiday we have ever had....
10 / 10
May 2008, Mrs V Trundle

The best holiday we have ever had. Myself, my hubby, my 15 year old and 1 year old travelled together for week and it suited every one of us.
The hotel was great, although it is a large hotel, it didnt feel too big, neither did it feel busy even though we were there at October half term.
Staff, food, entertainment were great. The rooms were 'ok', the facilities were fab.
The locals are the nicest anywhere and so trustworthy.
As a family we loved the entertainment in the 'amphitheatre' at the back of the pool, but probably would not have known about it had we not chatted with a young family on our first night who were off home later that day.
The beach was beautiful, but busy, tipping will help you to have access to sunbeds pretty quick. The watersports are brilliant, very well priced and great fun.
The hotel, the resort, everything was lovely, we cant wait to go back!

I found the Sunrise Island Garden...
10 / 10
May 2008, Mrs C Davis

I found the Sunrise Island Garden View Hotel in Sharm-el-Sheikh to be excellent in every way. I went there for a fortnight (last week of April, 1st week of May) with my daughter for a relaxing break (sun, swimming, reading and eating lots of great food and was not disappointed. I was hesitant about trying a different hotel as I've been to the Reef Oasis a couple of times before and loved it there (especially the heated pool), but the Reef seems to have become more expensive and the Island Garden View reviews were good in the main (plus it had that essential heated pool!) so it seemed great value for money.
Food was excellent (especially the freshly cooked pancakes at breakfast), all the staff were friendly and helpful apart from the two rather unsmiling dour women on the customer service desk (or perhaps they were just having a bad day!) and the weather was fab. Everywhere was clean and tidy - it's a pretty complex - and not too big either.
You can fill up your water bottles for night time from the water dispensers (unlike at the Reef where they frown on this and say you have to buy it), and you get beach towels supplied (put them out early though, about 8.30am, to bag a sunbed with a brolly befoe the Italians and Russians get all the best ones!). Lot of Russian and Italians there, many of whom came across as rude and pushy (they don't know how to queue!) to the staff, but there were some nice ones as well!
Neither of us had a tummy upset, but then we didn't have the salad, just to be on the safe side, until the last two days but were perfectly alright, nor did we over-do the alcohol and sun (or swallowed pool/sea water, nor drank the tap water - only using bottled to clean our teeth) - which is the usual cause of stomach upsets - but made sure we drank plenty of water.
The airport is only five minutes away as the crow flies, so you do get aircraft noise, but this didn't bother us (the air con is pretty noisy a night anyway), and it was great to watch the planes take off and land.
We didn't bother going on any excursions, so can't comment on those.
There's a little shop outside the hotel entrance that stocks essentials and prices aren't too outrageous for sun oil etc. There's a free book and magazine exchange bookcase near the pool, which is a good idea. There's a free shuttle bus every 15 minutes or so to take you to the beach at the sister hotel two minutes down the road. There's no beach as such that you can wade into the water from - just a jetty over the coral reef to a dive platform where you swim from. The fish were unbelievable!
The ground floor room was comfortable and clean, with a lovely terrace patio, leading out onto the pool area.
There was lots of daytime activities going on if you wanted to take part (water aerobics, ping-pong, belly dancing etc), and it's a great place to take kids too.
You can smoke in the room, and there's a nice smoking secton in the restaurant. Cigs were £7.50 for 200 at the airport duty-free (L&M - which are like Lambert & Butler Gold) - and other more well-known brands were really cheap as well. At Manchester airport duty-free Superkings were £75 for 800 (£19 for 200). You can't smoke in Manchester airport, nor in Sham on landing - only outside. But when you travel back, there is a smoking section inside the departure lounge near the duty-free shop.
Take £1 coins to tip the staff (they'll take sterling, US dollars, no problem - and will look after you like royalty for a couple of quid a week!). You can get Egyptian pounds (10 to £1 sterling), but it's not essential as sterling and US dollas ae perfectly acceptable in te markets/shops.
You do NOT need a visa if you are staying in Sharm-el-Sheikh only - but will need one if you go on trips outside of the area (eg to Cairo etc), and you get these at the airport when you land (they are about £15 and you can pay in dollars or pounds).
I found I could receive texts from my mobile (Virgin), but could not send them (the Virgin helpline did not help!), so it woud pay you to ensure your phone will text from Egypt as otherwise mobile calls are horrendously expensive.
Sharm airport is much better organised than it used to be apart from being rather late getting our luggage to us on landing, but if you stay chilled out and switch to Egyptian time you'll be fine!). And I saw no evidence of check in staff trying to fiddle the luggage weights in order to make you pay excess baggage, as on other reviews I'd read.
One tip - when you book flights, ask specifically for a window seat or seats together if you require these.
All in all, we had a fab time! I can't wait to go back and would recommend it to anyone.

myself, brother and my mum stayed at the sun rise island garden resort and can honestly say it was our best hoilday ever! please dont read any of the bad reviews as it is compleat rubbish. we where only there for a week and wished we could of booked longer. the food was amazing, my brother is a vegeterian and they just couldnt of offered more choice. one night my mother was slighty ill so we asked if it would be ok to take some food for her up to our room, this was more than fine and also said if i wanted anything cooking fresh or something different for her to eat than this also would not be a problem. Everyone that worked here just went overbord to make us feel happy, catered for etc ...
Our room was cleaned every day, and was spotless! our cleaners everyday made towel sculptures on our beds in the shapes of flowers, swans etc ... fresh flowers all over the room in varses. it was so amazing, and they where so so so greatful if you just said thankyou.
i honestly cant recomed this hotel enough!!!
the waiters , 'shawkey' and many more just made this hoilday wonderful. on the negative which is nothing to do with the hotel or its workers, but the hotel is abit away from any main town, also the beach at the sister hotel isnt a sandy beach, but still lovely. and alot of russians and german hoilday makers, who are very rude to staff, dont smile say thankyou, nothing.
but dont let them put you off this hotel because it is just amazing. i'll be going back!!

A friend and I booked a holiday,...

A friend and I booked a holiday, partly to celebrate a big birthday of hers. We were not disappointed.
We found the grounds immaculate and incredibly beautiful, with lush flowers and bushes. The room was very comfortable. The food was great. The staff really made the holiday as they were invariably helpful, funny, and couldn't do enough for you. Hany, one of the waiters, took us under his wing.
Despite other comments, we only tipped Hany and the room attendant, Mohammed, at the end of the holiday and they certainly did not ask for anything beforehand.
On my friend's birthday, the room attendant made some creations with the towels and laid them out on the bed (see photo), the table was decorated with petals, she received a letter from the management, a birthday cake, the waiters gathered round and sang her Happy Birthday, the carpet maker, Mohammed, weaved her a little picture with her name on. She said it was her best birthday ever.
I would love to return and the staff were all asking us when we were returning. Very happy memories indeed.
