holiday 2nd dec - 17th dec 2009
we travelled with friends, 7 of us altogether, aging from 9 years to 53 years.
Hotel fantastic, something to do for all. Food fantastic, great choice of food,
Staff were brilliant, couldn t do enough for you and that was without tipping them as we tipped at the end of our 2 week stay.
Animation team do a great job, catering for all not only the children.
Will definately return to egypt and to same hotel.

Just arrived back from the Sunrise. Stayed last year and the service, the food,
the accommodation is still as excellent. The staff cant do enough for you. There
is a great choice of food in the main restaurant plus you can book the italian
a la carte or "Fatimas" Lebanese/Egypt food which is mainly barbacued food but excellent.
They had a new annimation team this year which was not as good as last and the acts were repeated from last year so for this reason we wouldnt go back but would defininately recommend it anyone who hasnt been before. There are 4 pools, 2 noisy and 1 quiet pool. Get up early to put your towel down though. There is also a pool near the beach.
The beach is hot and sticky and a way from the jetty but the fish and the snorkelling are super. They have a shuttle bus on an evening into Naarma Bay which is 3.3 egypt pds. each and also just outside the hotel is a road full of up market shops, a stage which offers
entertainment, a chinese, an indian (not recommended) Ukrain. The prices are ok the chinese looked the best food. There is an "english style pub" but very expensive - stick to Sekora Gold. Say hello to Mr. Salama - manager of the food and beverages.

My wife & I came here last year for our annual holiday and to coincide with my birtday in July, hot but then what do you expect.. We had a junior suite and found the hotel/staff excellent, with little birthday touches, cakes, parties, staff salutes - brilliant. We have spent 40 years touring the globe and this was up with the best, and half the distance of most of our holidays.
We had just started fostering and left our two girls with other carers because our holiday had been booked prior to them having arrived.
They saw the pictures - never having had a holiday in their lives - let alone 5* - were gobsmacked - we vowed to give them the chance and booked again for this year.
We have just returned - they were blown away and we were not far behind, Mohammed and his staff in the restaurant were as good as ever. The Italian restaurant produced food of such good quality that even our granddaughter who "doesn't eat", came home with the beginnings of a spare tyre, the new barbeque area proved hugely successful.
We have been in 5* accomodation where it is so starchy that even the adults dare not sneeze, this is 4-5* with good accomodation/food , excellent service, comfortable and with all expected facilities. 4 Pools ,slides & all inclusive tit-bits for the kids, find better/more relaxing site/accomodation.

  • Advice: The new Riviera.Less bites and insect problems than most resorts.
  • Activities: Hard Rock Cafe was a must - not especially good value, but high on the list of must do's.

realy this hotel is heaven, it has manicured, peaceful, beautiful gardens especially at night, it is lit up. the food is excellent. it is wonderful for snorkelling, diving, beautiful yoga on the beach to the most hipnotic music you have ever heard. belly dancing on the beach, which let me tell you draws an audience to the participants, and men and women boys and girls, get there cameras and just simply enjoy the sheer rhythm and the harmonious feeling that, would you believe belly dancing brings, it is not, like i thought, something out of the carry on films. it truly is just something lovely. the holiday brought me out of my terrible, physical and mental stress and for want of a better phrase ill health. there is fun and entertainment to a very high and proffesional standard. do not hesitate to book this hotel and do go on the trip to cairo and to st catherines monastry, you will see the pyramids and be transfixed at st catherines, the tour guides are over the top in their knowledge and passion of ancient egyptions. by the way the large wicker topped beach restaurant venue, for lunch or evening oriental food, is delightful. please go and you will feel like me, upon your return, elated and revived.

good for winter sun

My friend and i just returned from sunrise island view (two adult females) we enjoyed our stay as we went to relax and get some winter sun!
The hotel is great, clean tidy and well presented, good facilities but you have to book everything the day before you want it! food was good, plenty of choice but most times its luke warm - take your own vinegar! service was inconsistant and we did wonder if we would have recieved better service if we were with men! the price of the massage varies massivly - barter! i got the full body massage down to £15.00 from £50.00!
people who tip get much better service and perks.
The hotel disco is great if your under 20, if not the tracks played mostly sound the same - no words just noise, with the odd abba track thrown in! The all-inclusive card does not cover drinks in the disco even though our card said 'drinks at all outlets' the rep said she would look into it but did not bother getting back to us! if you buy a drink at the disco its about £7.00 sterling for a vodka and coke which appears to disapear into the bar man pocket!
The beach closes at 5pm in winter and you get kicked off! The snorkling is fantastic but take your own mask its expensive to buy them in the super market as is everything else!
If you want to buy perfumed oil see ruby in the hotel, he knows his stuff and is very good on price and quality.
The evening entertainment is very poor for the over 20's and is a big let down as drinks outside the hotel are very expensive!
if you want some sun and a chill out its fine, if you want anything more give it a miss!
Watch out when your out and about, make sure you get what you think youve bought and not something else put in the bag like the wrong size!
taxi drivers pretend you have given them 5 plasters instead of 50 pounds! check everything!
Hard rock cafe is great, fantastic food good value!
this hotel is great for familys and couples not for singles!

I've never left a review but having read the reviews for this hotel before we went, and now having stayed there I feel I must give my opinion! firstly, No this is not 5 Star as we would expect in England, but having paid just £550 all inclusive I was never expecting it. Lets face it you don't get 5 star for that price!! However, the hotel was 3/4 star and the staff made it one of the best holidays I've ever had. Yes the food was repetative, it always is when you are AI but the salads were fresh and tasty and you could always raid kids corner if you really wanted chips! Out by the pool the staff could not have been more friendly (Osman, Waleed to name a couple) Our party of 5 would often be lying on a sunbed to find that Waleed or Osman would just walk over to us with our 'usuals' without even having to get up! All I can say is that as long as you don't actually expect 5 star, and accept the friendliness of the staff, you will have a really great time.

My only reason for not giving the hotel 10 was the repitition of the food, on saying that the fod that we had was good but the service was incredible and I would certainly give 10 for the service alone, this could make the hotel a 5 star although I would rate it more a 3+. I have to mention the staff from the gardeners to the managers, they are all so incredibly polite, always smiled and could never do enough for you, just to point out 2 in particular, our waiter Ibrahim, what a joy he was and also the restauratn manager Sharif, I cannot praise them highly enough.
Our only disappointment has nothing to do with the hotel or the staff but with the arrogance, greed, rudeness and ignorance of the Russian contigent that thought it was their right to be served first and to be waited on, they seemed to think the Hotel was soley for them..WRONG..the waiters had thick skin when it came to them, thank goodness. So if you can just ignore that lot then you will be in for a fantastic holiday with fantastic people.
One more thing I have to point out, we were there for Christmas and as Egypt is a muslim country we were not expecting much, boy were we wrong, they went out of their way to provide a fabi Christmas including a fabulous Christmas Eve Gala Dinner..SUPERB>

Excellent Hotel

We stayed in this hotel from 18th Dec to 25th Dec and had a fantastic time. This hotel is spread over a large area and it is kept immaculately clean. The staff are all very friendly and cannot do enough for you. This was our fifth visit to sharm but the first to this hotel and we really enjoyed every minute!
The food was excellent and there was always a variety of different food to choose from. We had breakfast in the main restaurant which is split into two parts, one side being non-smoking, which we found better as it was not so packed and there was always plenty of tables available. They have a separate cooking area aswell, which has all the same food as the main part. There is also a beach bar, pool bars one which does pizza, burgers and chips all day til late at night. There is also Fatimas at the beach which does lunch but you need to book at night.
The snorkelling at the beach is fantastic, the hotel has its own reef with plenty of fish to see!
The hotel put on a christmas party on christmas eve which was fantastic! They built a marquee and decorated it all for christmas, the tables were all in red and white with bottles of wine, they had built a stage and put on a show, it was amazing! Everyone was so nice, all the hotel managers greeted the guests as we were shown to the party, they all wish you a merry christmas, even the waiters, gardeners, cleaners and security staff!! Everywhere you go the hotels are decorated with christmas trees, santas, fairy lights, reindeer!! its a lovely place to visit for a christmas break!
The weather was very hot during the day, we spent most days by pool 4 right by Fatimas restaurant, which was handy for lunch! Although it does go cold at night, so take trousers and jackets!
After our evening meal we would sit around the pool bar where the staff there are great especially Omar and Fathy! The staff are so friendly towards you and like to talk to you and have a laugh, especially if you're english!
I can't recommend this hotel highly enough. We have stayed in the Concorde next door, and thoroughly enjoyed that, although their a/i finishes at 11pm, whereas the Sunrise is 24hr, if you want it that is!
There is a new shopping area built outside the hotel which is all part of the Savoy on the other side of the Sunrise, there are restaurants, shops and an ice skating rink along there to, its called Soho Square and was lovey to walk around at night after our evening meal.
We will definitely be going to this hotel again!!

Fantastic Holiday

Firstly i have to say like many on here that the Sunrise Island Garden is not a 5 star hotel like in the UK but it is a pretty good 4 star. The rooms are fine, big enough for what you need, and kept very clean, the cleaner will even fold up your clothes for you.....i dont even get that at home!!! Shower was lovely and you even had some descent TV channels with movies and shows to watch when you need to chill out....and of course the most essential thing the air conditioning which was lovely and essential!!! Of course the weather was gorgeous, with the coldest day being about 37, but dont worry the heat is quite bearable as there is always a nice breeze. Whilst we was there they were re-vamping some of the grounds and the Slides.....which opened the day after we left....damn it!! I can see why some people might have trouble finding a sun lounger in the height of summer but even when we got up around 0930 there was still plenty available, and 90% of them were brand new. The swimming pools were lovely, just what you need in the heat to dip in to cool down, and they were always kept spotlessly clean, like everywhere in the complex. Personally i thought the food was rather good, especially when you consider that there are about 7 different nationallies at the hotel, i didnt find it repeatative at all, and i dont think most people will unless you always eat the same things!!! Every night was a different theme night in the restaurant and even when the country can around again the food was different!! The italian and BBQ are worth booking for something different. Animation team were great especially Kojo and Ania, but they all work really hard to keep you entertained. Couple of minor niggles, the Med Hotels rep isnt worth a ****, we arrived 2 days before the XL thing and he wasnt helpful at all, we ended up getting the information off the lady at the customer desk, who was helpful. If you havent booked transfers try and get ahold of the hotel a book the Hotel Taxi (not limo) as it only costs about £5 as opposed to £20 when you are at the airport!! The next thing is the evening entertainment...or lack of it really, after about 9 nothing is going on, but its not all bad the sister hotel has much better entertainment in the Ampitheatre. The only snag is that at the Garden you have wrist bands, at the sister one they dont they have cards instead! During the day this is ok as when you are down the beach you can have as many soft drinks as you like, but at night they only give you 1 alcoholic and 1 soft drink voucher each and bearing in mind the beer comes in half a pint glass and is half full thats not great. We were lucky as we sussed this after the second day and managed to get our wrist bands off and get unlimited drinks out of the bar by the Theatre where Hany and Sheriff work. Others tried the same trick but were caught out....my advise go there early when you are not sun burnt, make yourself known and you should be ok. If you smoke but your fags from the shops down by the cost 200 L&M's can be found as cheap as £7. Also take dollars and english money with you....if your wristband needs replacing its $5 or £14...work that one out!!! Overall i have got to say that i really enjoyed our stay there and we are looking to go back next year, but probably at the sister hotel, but i would still recommend the Garden to anyone. Hope this has been helpful and that you enjoy your stay at the resort.
