Ca' dei Conti

Stayed for 2 nights Feb 19 and 20th 2006. Within 3 minute walk of both St Mark's Square and San Zaccaria vaporetto stop. Good breakfast. Our room was a bit cramped and the lift did not go to the 3rd floor where we were (first 2 floors only). Hotel was quiet and nicely decorated, but room was a bit too warm. However, good value for money and we would definitely stay there again. Vaporetto 51 took about 20 mins to get to hotel, but vaporetto 1 went on grand canal so good views, but took 45 mins to get to place roma.

This is a truly special hotel! It's the closest thing to staying in a true small palace. Both of the rooms our family stayed in were fit for a king. The rooms are finely appointed with gorgeous chandeliers and bedding that coordinates perfectly with the window treatments and padded georgeous wall coverings. The breakfast was wonderful ... the best we had in Italy. The location is really wonderful ... just a 5 minute walk to St. Mark's Square. We loved the hotel, and if you take a private water taxi from the airport it drops you off... more

Great location, 2 minutes from St Marks Square and 5 from the Rialto Bridge!! Rooms very spacious and clean, however the bed was a bit hard!!! Otherwise wellworth the price (120 GBP) for 2 nights Highly Recommended!!

We stayed here in November after booking online. The room they gave us and our friends was, literally, in the attic. While it was cool outside, our rooms were 80 degrees Farenheit even with the heat off! When we opened the windows the mosquitoes dined on us all night long. It was very frustrating and the front desk staff was not very helpful. In it's favor, the decor was pleasant and the bathroom was all marble but there was no shower curtain. My partner and I stayed at this hotel for four nights from the 17th to the 21st November 2005, for a short romantic break. The Ca'dei Conti was excellent for our purposes - you really cannot beat the location. It's a stone's throw from St.Mark's Square and the Grande Canal, yet it is peaceful at night. This was my first trip to Venice and I really fell in love with the place. I think the time of year was perfect. Most of everything written here was true. All rooms we viewed were small. It is actually the suites that open up into the breakfast room. It is central, but extremely quiet - thats quiet outside as our room, like three others, opened on to reception - quiet noisy. The minibar did not work, but the furnishings were 4*. The trip to Murano did start with a free taxi across the lagoon and ended up with a hard sell on inferior goods and politely being shown the back alley to the public water bus! Booked the Blue room on their web site but was given a 2 room large suite on second floor - expensive at 560 euro per night! more than advertised on web despite booking many months earlier. Living room was large and could hold 6 people, bedroom beautifully decorated but smaller than the lounge. The Jacuzzi bathroom was suprisingly very small in comparisson - no heating so bathroom very cold (September). The other suites only had a shower we understand and at the prices charged you would expect a bath (with shower). Turn down... more
