Arco Antico Guest House

When we booked this Bed & breakfast place, we did not expect much. Were we in for a pleasant surprise!!!! This place rocks! The approach is not very nice due to the small alley that leads to it. Location is good and easy for tourists (10 min walk to St Marco square). Took the Vaprottei (water taxi) from the railway station to the San Silverstro stop and the hotel is a 5 min walk from the taxi stop. Very friendly staff. Room ambience is A++. A little tricky to find (there are 3 streets in Venice that share this exact name), but once you find it, it's a gem. There was a mix up with our reservation so they put us up the first night in a 2 bedroom apartment. It was nice, but we actually preferred the regular room that we stayed in the second night. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, and they all speak fluent English. The location is only a block from a canal and is close to many attractions in San Polo. My fiance and I stayed at the Arco Antico in November 2004. It is a lovely little hotel, beautifully restored, immaculately clean and the owners were friendly and very helpful. The location couldn't be better, we could just glimpse the Grand Canal from our bedroom window, it was within walking distance of everywhere and we managed to see all the sights of Venice in one weekend. We didn't have any problems finding the hotel from the directions we were given but we did have a street map which was a great help. I would love to return to... more

We spent 2 nights at Arco Antico in early December 2004. We had never been to Venice before and this hotel has left us with very pleasant memories of the city. We were travelling with our 4 children aged 10 - 18 and were given 2 rooms next to each other that suited our needs perfectly. The rooms were spotless with great character, re-created in true Venetian style. The owners were extremely helpful with all aspects of both the hotel and sightseeing around the city.
