Fattoria San Donato

After quite a bit of searching, checking reviews and comparing villas/accomodations in Tuscany, we decided to have our wedding in San Gimignano and our reception at San Donato. Together with 20 friends and family, we enjoyed a week (some stayed for shorter periods) at San Donato and touring the Tuscan countryside. Great location right at the center of Tuscany, about 15 minutes drive from San Gimignano. Friendly hosts, pretty views :) Breakfast is delicious and if they are offering dinner while you are there cancel all your other plans and go - its local, plentiful and very very good. The rooms are large and airy...the plumbing is a bit old so it gurgles from time to time but it is a minor detail, really. Highly recommended.

This was by far the best place we stayed on our entire trip to Italy. Besides the breathtaking location and adorable accomadations the owners were extremely helpful. They set reservations for dinner for us each night and both restaurants were incredible. Plus they have amazing wine and olive oil which we made sure to bring back with us! San Donato is very easy to find and is very close to the towncenter of San Gimignano which has a ton to see and do. We will definitely be coming back to stay with Umberto and his family in San Donato again!

We had a bottle of San Donato vernaccia wine with a meal in Siena. So when we went to San Gimignano, we sought out the Fattoria di San Donato. Umberto is a wonderful host! He speaks English beautifully & made us feel right at home. We had rented a villa in Castiglion Fiorentino & took day trips by car. Next time, we will definitely stay at Fattoria di San Donato. The facilities looked wonderful, including the swimming pool which the guests were enjoying on the warm summer day! You will not be disappointed if you stay here.
