Penzion Mayer

My wife and I stayed here on our honeymoon. It was a beautiful place. We had a view of the castle on Lake Bled. The beds were very comfortable, the rooms were spacious and clean. We would highly recommend staying at Penzion Mayer!

I lived in Slovenian for a year a few years ago and seeing Bled on a day trip, I promised to visit it again, this time staying overnight. I read the reviews on this website and I decided to book the penzion meyer. When we arrived, we were speechless by how pretty the hotel was - inside and outside. Beautiful wooden exterior, peaceful location, minutes away from the lake, we got a huge room overlooking the castle, wooden floors, perfectly clean ( i am very picky with rooms) and warm at all times. Breakfast was fantastic, the only hotel where I ever got whole cherry tomatoes instead of soggy slices. I felt so bad that I paid 72 euros only (double room, breakfast) so I left 8 euros tip. I hope to go back on a weekend break, this is an amazing place to stay, highly recommended.

I stayed at the Penzion Mayer over Easter weekend with my boyfriend. We went to Bled for a relaxing break & booked this accommodation based on previous reviews & I have to agree with every positive thing that has been said. We stayed in room 102 which was a large bright room at the front of the property. Having stayed in other Pensions in Eastern Europe I was surprised the room had a safe & a mini bar. The room was incredibly clean & seemed to have been refurbished very recently. Check in & check out was extremely quick & efficient. Breakfast was a continental style buffet, there was a huge choice of cold meats, cereals, fresh fruit & pastries. The orange juice glasses were even a decent size! The Pension is a very short walk from the lake & centre of the village. The Golf Hotel next door has a pool complex & wellness facilities open to non guests. We paid €144 (c. £98 or $192) for two nights bed & breakfast, which is fantastic value for such a great hotel.

Just back from a wonderful skiing holiday in slovenia, and had to rate this superb hotel, The rooms were clean and beautiful, lovely comfy bed, plenty of hot water, the staff were very helpful, kind and humerous. The food was out of this world, with a wine cellar to match. We can't wait to go back.

The Penzion was without adout the best 4 star hotel we have ever stayed at and is now the bench mark for anywhere we will stay. We arrived early but was made welcome with homemade blueberry snapps. We room was simple but had cable T.V with English channels. The food was wonderful. The service great. We had taken what was written about this hotel with a pinch of salt but it was bettier than we could have expected. If you are ever in Slovenia visit this Bled and stay here for a wonderful time in a excellant hotel

I booked at Mayer after reading some nice reviews on this site - and we had such a nice time I had to share... We had the 'castle room' which looks out (surprise) over the castle and lake. we woke up to snow-capped mountains - very happy. it was a great time to go (Nov and Dec are a really weird quiet time, so if you like walking round deserted ski slopes and generally having the place to yourself, this is the time to visit. I don't think from the sound of it that there is much nightlife at any other time though - the only thing we saw was kids tearing around in their cars and all of the ladies in the town doing the conga in one hotel. that was special). Breakfast was a fantastic buffet with great coffee, food in the restaurant was really nice, very sweet bar too and try their home made blueberry moonshine. rooms were very simple, immaculate and clean. it's just generally a really nice, homely pension - the owner is so ridiculously hospitable they really bent over backwards for us... so i would recommend that you GO!

Had a short break just before Christmas to get over a death in the family. The Mayer could not be better. Wonderful welcome ( Owner picked us up and took us back to the airport) Lovely clean and comfortable rooms. Can't fault it !. No wonder they get booked up so quickly!!!

My husband and I toured throughout Eastern Europe and this was by far our favorite accommodation. Penzion Mayer is the perfect base from which to explore Bled and is an excellent value. Our room had wood floors, private balcony, TV with cable, and an immense walk-in bathroom (rare in Europe). The breakfast buffet was wonderful--fruits, biscotti, cereal, yogurt, eggs, cheeses, etc. We were so sad to only have booked 1 night. We definitely will be back!

Such a beautiful and perfectly located place. My partner and I stayed for 2 nights at the Penzion Mayer in July and wished we stayed longer. We contacted the Penzion directly to book our room and got an instant and hassle free reply. On arriving, at Lake Beld, we were lost and couldn't find it. Went into the Tourist Information place and she gave us the direction (partly our fault as we weren't organised enough to prepare for direction to the hotel). On arrival, it took our breath away. Room Big and spaceious. Clean and had lots of natural sunlight and air natural air coming in. Bathroom The biggest bath tub we've ever seen. 2 sinks. Also with shower and Very clean. Restaurant We had breakfast and Dinner outside. Breakfast was very simple. Very peaceful. The food at dinner was outstanding. Truly fabulous.Great food, great wine and great service. A romantic setting. Get there early as it gets very busy. Hotel Very well kept inside and outside. The garden was well maintained and the rooms were immaculate. Service was good. Its not along the lake but only a 3 minute walk away. Its ontop of steep hill. Peaceful and away from the noisey, touristy area of Lake Bled. About a 8-10 minute walk away from the Bus station. Lake Bled A beautiful/stunning/clean/breath taking place, for all ages. So much to do and see. We hired bikes for a day and cycled round. Go for a dip in the lake. Bled castle has the best view of the Lake and soundings. We got a bus from the airport to Kranj and then from Kranj directly to Bled. The people are so helpful and laid back. We could have stayed here for the whole holiday. Overall If and when we go back to Lake Bled, this will definately be the place for us. So much better than the concrete hotels along the lake. The only downside was that our room was located directly above the outdoor dining area and was abit noisey/smokey during dinner time. But it doesn't last all night : ) We LOVED Penzion Mayer. My wife and I stayed at Penzion Mayer for 2 nights at the end of June. We could not have chosen a nicer place for our first visit to Slovenia. The penzions in this part of Slovenia are just like the chalet hotels in Switzerland from an appearance point of view, with window boxes and geraniums set against a lot of carved woodwork. We had a view of the lake and the castle, although the Penzion is not on the immediate shore of the lake, but just a couple of minutes walk away. We liked the fact that we could eat breakfast and dinner on the patio; all meals were very good. I would certainly recommend this penzion without hesitation.
