best holiday i have ever had
10 / 10
Nov 2008, shell_bennett

i have just arrived back from the grand azure, i dont usually bother with reviews but i feel this one needs a mention. It is fantastic, in fact that is an understatement it is out of this world!! The food is gorgeous with a wide selection varying from italian to german to english u name it theyve got it the pools and surrounding areas are beautifully made up with people out all the time making sure they stay that way the staff will bend over backwards side ways and any other way to help u out. if u need it they'll do it they are so helpful and friendly. It is well situated as you come out of the hotel there is a few shops take time to go in and have a look they are fantastic people in there and i have even kept in touch with a few people adam who owns the papirus shop and tito who owns the medicine shop dr tito as i called him as he sorted me out a treat when ever i felt a little poorly if you go a bit furter down the road to the jasmine centre there is an english bar upstairs st georges if you want to book any trips do it here they are half the price as the hotels and are exactly the same they are fully insured we got 5 trips for £300 where as booking the same trips through the hotel would av cost nearly £600 ask for pete or holly there an english father and daughter and will again bend over backwards to help you all in all i cant wait to go back i am goin today to book another holiday with the same hotel please do not listen to ANY negative reviews they are people that moan for the sake of moaning go and make up your own mind IT IS FANTASTIC BEST HOLIDAY I HAVE EVER HAD AND NO DOUBT EVER WILL HAVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brilliant Holiday

After reading some of the reviews we were abit anxious but this place is absoltely brilliant. On arrival at the htel you are met by staff who look after your luggage whilst you check in. There were fiveof us in our group. My mum and dad, my 15 yr od brother, my grlfriend and myself. Checking in ws straight forward and we were taken to our rooms by a member of staff who explained where everything was on the way. The lobby is unreal its so big. There is a plan of the complex inside te lobby aswel. We arrived at our rooms in block six next to the main restaurant. The rooms were spacious, very clean and not long after our luggage arrived at our rooms. We tipped the guy 2 english pound. After we had settled in we went for a few drinks. We tipped our waiter and every night he would look after us throughout the whole holiday. The first morning we went down to the activity pool but it was busy and we were unable to get 5 sunbeds. We asked the pool guy and within ten minutes he had 5 for us. We tipped him 50 egyptian about 7 pound and everyday there were five sunbeds waiting for us. There are 3 pools but we are an active bunch so spent everyday at the activity pool. There is so much going on run by the animation team. These guys work really hard and we really got on with them. The dont hassle you the just tryto get you involved. I played water polo twice a day and beach football. There is also darts, bocha bowls step arobics, stretching water gymnastics break dancing lessons, beach volleyball. The restaurants we thaught were very nice. Unless your extremely fussy you will enjoy the food. The food always tasted fresh. Dont for get they are catering for thausands of people and differe nationalilities. The saff are friendly and we had a waiter that looked after us the whole trip and everyday had a table ready for us. We also ate in the chineese italian and arabian reataurants which we found very nice. You do have to book these a day in advance. We went back to the chineese the last night as that was our favourate. There is also afish restaurant but we didnt fit that in. Down by the beach there is a tropicana restaurant thatdo fresh pizza. This is a must. They are delicious. The night entertainment by the animation team to be fair i s good but the other entertainment is repetaive. They have a band up by the lobby which is good but is everynight and a singer down at another bar. There is a billiard bar with 3 pool tables which is open till 2am. There bars in the lobby are open 24/7. You can upgrade to a suite but its 30 euro each per night. you do get a private restaurant and daily papers but thats about it. The health suite i s fantastic. We used the gym and alsohad a full body massage. The gym manager is called ahmed. Remeber this because this guy is great. At night he works as a taxi driver. He gave us a good deal to naama bay. But he also walked us and showed us around the shops. He is built like a machine so noboy hassled us and he got us good deals on gifts when we went shopping. We went to eat in hard rock cafe which was lovely and ahmed met us again after. We gave him a good tip and he looked after us to. Everyday he would come to see us at the pool to see if we were ok. He got us xtra towels and even gave my girlfriend free cream as she got a few bites on her legs. We needed to get scarfs for the quad trip. When I asked how much it was 150 egyptian for 1. Ahmed managed to go somewhere else and got all 5 for 120 egyptian. We went on three trips the quad bikes which was brilliant. Be carefull who you book with. If your like us and you want to go fast then you can book your own private trip. I did meet people who booked through their rep and got stuck with a group of abot 30 people. We did this trip in the afternoon. You go into the dessert, visit a bedwin camp. tried egyptian tea. Had a camel ride. that cost about 20 pound to do this trip. We also did two boat trips called Ros Mahammed and Tiran island. I did four scuba dives which were out of tis world. We booked these through the red sea rangeres who walk around the hotel complex. They will spkea to you but if you dont want to go then just tell them and they are fine. There is a camera man on the trips and he's always in ya fce but again if ya dont want the dvd just tell him. This didnt botherus. We had the dvds and they were good to watch. Just outside the hotel turn right and about 400 metres there is a mcdonalds and kfc. There is also an englishbar call st georges. There are laot of russians and polish who do come across abit rude but I think its a case of thats how they re. They didnt bother us. I played alot of sport with them and they were fine. To clear up all this egyptian bug. Its rubbish. IF you dont wash yor hands or keep hydrated then you will be ill. the food is fine to eat. Keep your room ata goot temp. If you put it too cold then you may get ill as your going from it being hot to very cold. Meand my brother had a slight tummy upset but we were not ill. This I think is from how much beer we drank. Dont forget if your drinking alot it has to come from somewhere. The beach is nice and yes the jetty is a long wak but its nice. People who moan are just lazy. Its a nice walk out and fantastic snorkelling. This is without a doubt in our opinion 5 star. I would definately go back. My mum and dad are already looking at booking to go back next year. Everybody has their own opinion so the bad reviews you read. Dont listen. Make your own mind up. The best holiday ive been on. And Ive been on many.Make the right choice and go.

Just returned from the wonderful LTI...
7 / 10
Oct 2008, hairyharry191

Just returned from the wonderful LTI Grand Azure, my family and I had a two week stay there and we throughly enjoyed our stay.
There was 7 of us in our party, so we had two rooms that joined into onewhich we found very convienent, the rooms we really spacious and as i am one for not liking to sleep in a different bed other than my own the beds were suprisingly comfortable the cleaner was very good we did tip him but by doing so he didn't leave us alone not hassling us for more money just being friendly did get a little annoying with his endless questions about England other than that our room was spotless everyday and we had endless supply of drinks in our fridge was great.
The swimming pools were exceptional very very very clean and big enough you could get lost plus very refreshing after a hour sunbathing, the pool guys were great we did tip them after they got us 7 sunbeds when there were none to been seen, we did tip them for this and from that day on there was always 7 sunbeds there for us not because we tipped them to do so, just because we tipped them for their help.
The food was good not amazing but good, i would say the pizza's were really nice freshly made too which before in all inclusive we have had pizza's ready made that had been there for ages and were horrible but at the grand azure they are cooked to order, saying that although the food inside was basic, just outside the hotel Churchills is a must not its English run but its overpriced, all ready made, and most of it re-heated so it was disgusting in my honest opinion just eat inside the hotel it doesn't cost you anything because your all inclusive and its actually quite nice.
Med-Hotels talk a total load of rubbish and they say that if you don't book your trips with them you will not be insured this is rubbish and a ploy to get you to book with them, so much so they offer you a sunset boat trip which is after 6pm is not insured if you dont believe me read up on it, we were actually advised to go to St Georges Bar and see Pete the owner as he books trips fully insured and at low low low prices, with Med-Hotels we were told that quad biking for the sunset drive wpuld be 35english pounds per person, with Pete we got it for 16english pounds per person, Med-Hotels quoted us 40english pounds per person for a snorkeling trip around the three reefs, again Pete smashed that to pieces and we went Snorkeling to Tiran Island for 26english pound per person, he is well worth a visit for trips a honest straight down the line bloke, the four men in our party spent most of their time in Pete's bar St Georges watching all the football and competeing in many silly pub games they have going on over there, i most probably would of spent more time of there but theres no air conditoning so gets a little hot, although if you are a good drinker and can handle your alcohol the beer is ice ice cold.
All in all great holiday would definetly re-visit the Grand Azure, few things that did annoy me was my daughter being hounded by one of the Turkish photographers he wouldn't leave her alone and we did have to report him to the manager and with 5days to go of our holiday he was removed as my daughter was very unhappy with the way he harrassed her, the other thing worth noting that we found frustrating was the shops inside the hotel for silly little things like pepsi and stuff to take back to your room was like 1english pound for a can of pop, where if you went to the supermarket near St Georges bar it was 10p a can so big difference, Plus the shops inside the hotel that sell you shisha pipes and other stuff were really expensive and we actually bought our sourveniers for home at the Jasmine Center were things were a whole lot cheaper.
If your going to this hotel i think you will really enjoy it but just be careful with certain things and certain people.

The Hotel facillities and food were...
8 / 10
Oct 2008, Mrs A Sanderson

The Hotel facillities and food were of a very high standard. The accommodation and service in this hotel was excellant. The only downside to the hotel was the beach area which has a jetty of approx half a mile to walk before you can get into water deep enough to swim in. This would have a bearing on me coming back again.
The staff and entertainment at the hotel along with the food was superb better than we have had on our two previous visits to another hotel.
We were unfortunate enough to be booked with Med hotels and our rep Ossy was the most arrogant intimidating person I have ever met. He was advising people if they did not book the trip through him then their would not be insured.
As this is our third visit to Egypt and we have never booked with the Rep's always with the hotel or outside travel sites, we were surprised by his comments.
He overheard us booking the breakfast box for a trip to Cairo and took it upon himself to advise we would not be getting our breakfast boxes and he wanted to know the name of the person we booked the trip with and he would have him arrested. If you do book with Med hotels and this is the rep onsite at the hotel do not take any notice of his comments and use him as little as possible. There is an English girl called Michelle who works at the hotel and she is very helpful as are all of the staff on the front desk, they will give you all the advice you need.

This was our second time at the Grand Azure, thought hotel was fab last year but was even better this year. Read my review on trio advisor to get the full sp on it. The only downside to this holiday was the Med Hotels rep, he was the most aragont and intimedatng man I have ever met. Have put a compaint into Med Hotel direct. If your Hotel is booked with Thomas Cook, First Choice or Thomsons you'll have no probplems. As far as it been Ramadam we had no problems what so ever. The staff were 1st class. What you have go to remember they cannot even drink anything in the 40+ heat, I'd like to see us try and not do that!!!

Just got back 26/09/2008 from egypt great hotel great pools but thats about it, SOME of the staff where rude and smelly i see a least 2 chefs going for number 2`s and never washed there hands it made me sick a did`nt eat in the hotel again all of are party where ill i with tummy problems for 5-6 days of the holiday. Me and my brother in law went quad biking which was good but you see that the egyptions seem to use the desert as one large landfill site this is maybe why so many people get ill.
all in all good hotel and pools, food crap (could even be reused), some rude staff who want tips all the time (reminds me of cuba) beach is crap but we where expecting that. we wont be going back to egypt and i would`nt recommend it to any one, go to the domincan republic that beats the pants of egypt hands down..

100% great hotel. Can say nothing else. Pay extra for a juniour suite to recieve the VIP treament, your own reteraunt, VIP lounge with daily paers chocolate and TV, 24 hr free room service and mini bar.
On the other hand to clear a mith about the stomach bugs.
This bug is due to dehydration and not due to bad food hygeine, bad hygeine or quality of food. If you stick to advice drink at least 5 litres of bottled water a day, and wash your hands after the toilet like you would at home and you should be finr. If you are succepitable to upset stomachs visit a local pharmacy when tou arrive and buy there preventative medication which you take daily on holiday to prevent thisbug.

just returned from the grand azure...
9 / 10
Sep 2008, Miss K Langton

just returned from the grand azure and what a fab holiday we had. Apart from us nearly missing our flight going because we stupidly overslept everythin else was great.
Arrived at our hotel at around 8pm we were checked in very quickly and shown to our rooms and how to work the air con etc. Our luggage was brought to our room for us also. Our room was massive we had a junior suite with a great view. We had 2 showers in our bathroom 2 double beds a singe bed large sofa chairs and still enough room to do cartwheels.
Room was really clean and had more than enough wardrobe space. We then ventured for somthing to eat and the food was great like every all inclusive hotel ive been to before the food is very repetitive but i suppose it has to be because they have to be realistic and cater for all the differant nationalitys. Resteraunt was clean and air conditioned which made it a nice place to eat. There were also other resteraunts chinese, italian, sea food and arabic we only tried te chinese one and it was lovely a nice change from the main resteraunt. There are snack bars dotted around the complex and the pizza bar on the beach was lovely ive never had a pizza which tasted so fresh.
The resort itself is lovely very clean lovely gardens always claners and gradeners working on it. There is also a little train which will take you down to the beach free of charge from the front of the hotel. The bars are great and good cocktails as well especially the casa blanca one but beware there not stingy on the amount of alcohol the put in as i found out!!!!
Entertainment is ok we didnt see much of the animation team as we didnt go there shows or anything to do with it but they work very hard and are really friendly from what we saw of them. Why you are there you have to go snorkling at the end of the jetty its amazing snorkels are about 8 quid over there so if u can get one cheaper before you go then do.
There are shops about 5 min walk to the left out the hotel we didnt go to these as we only noticed them when we went to naama bay on our last night. There are also few shops inside the hotel and also directly outside the hotel but these are quite expensive. There is a supermarket outside the hotel to the right and a large one to the left where the shops are 5 mins down the road. There is also a kfc and mcD's to the right out of the hotel if you fancy a taste of home which is about 5 mins walk aswell.
There is a free shuttle bus which you book once day before which takes you to naama bay. This is an experiance in itself very daunting as they do nothing but mither you to go into there shops. Its a good experiance and one which can't be missed. We had our tea at Hard Rock cafe which was good we had burger and chips each (burgers are huge) and 2 cokes and it came to about £11.00 which was very reasonable lots of bargains to be had round naama bay.
All in all had a great holiday couldnt fault anything weather was great lowest we had was 40 deg most days was about 50 deg.
I would defiantly recomend this holiday to any one. Oh and if you are going to egypt expect to get a bad tummy and dont moan about getting one hand gell comes in usefull. If you do get a bad tum our imodium doesnt work and you need to get some antinall its in a yellow box about 2.50 from a pharmacy it works wonders. I will definately be going back here as its such a beautifull hotel.

8 / 10
Sep 2008, Mr P G

We were a family of 5 with interconnecting rooms. The rooms were ok, had to tip cleaner to keep the supply of tea bags and coffee.
Food was basic and was the same most nights, kids were getting fed up with pizza and chips. We did near the end of the holiday eat out at macdonalds and the Churchhill cafe just out the Hotel. we did all get stomach bugs at some time during the holiday, i had it worse and had to go to the chemist for some stronger drugs.
Pools were good but the larger pool did appear dirty some days. tip well and get looked after by the staff.
Plenty of bars around the hotel, these could get busy at times but you always got served after a couple of minutes.
Beach was ok with plenty of umbrella's for shade but was not used that much by anybody, sea was fantastic and well worth the 1/4 of a mile walk along the jetty to go snolkeling, sea was warm and nice to smim in.
Night time entertainment was poor, it would be ok if all your kids were aged 3-7.
We enjoyed the holiday but our stomachs did not, we would recomend this hotel.

Just back from spending 11 nights at...

Just back from spending 11 nights at the Grand Azure and can't say enough how much I enjoyed it!!!
First impressions that it is very big and the staff really are there to help you... we arrived 6 hours early but reception got us a room nearly straight away which was well needed after the travelling.
Accomadation is basic but of a good standard... they even have 4 movie channels in English on the TV showing some great films (handy when you get a case of Pharohs revenge).
The resort is massive, on day 3 we were still discovering parts that we had never seen... extra pools here and entertainment there...
Food varied which was good... they had themed nights... English dinner night had Cottage pie and alike... all up to a good standard... you won't struggle to find soemthing you like... and there 5 other restaurants including chinese and italian... but if ya struggle just outside to the left is a place called Churchills who do some really good english grub... top fry up!!!
Only thing I'd say to avoid is health centre... for what we paid it wasn't worth it... £100 for pampering that just wasn't relaxing...
Defo do a boat trip, is a about £30 for a day out snorkling!!! Well worth it!!!
All in all it was a great holiday... to avoid the russians I would go in August or September... we met so many great people out there... was probably about 60 % English in the resort although I've heard in other months it is more likely to be 90% Russian... hope that helps!!! May see you there some day as we plan to go back next year

Just return from a two week holiday...

1 reader found this review helpful

Just return from a two week holiday in sharm el sheikh, and i can say me and my family really enjoyed it, had a fantastic time and will definetly be going again.
The hotel was gorgeous and the swimming pools well exceptional and very clean.
Th beach was a bit of a walk but thats because i am lazy and overweight and in the heat of august i opted only to make this trip once.
The rooms were brilliant size and we had a double family room and it was great almost too much room for 5 people.
The food was basic and we did find ourselves eating at macdonalds on more than one occasion.
The entertainment was rubbish thats mainly because the animation team is just terrible, so we spent most of our evenings at St Georges Bar which is located at the Jasmine Centre, its just a small little cosy english bar run by an english family, we watched the football there and attended their special pass and go bingo nights and special race nights.
The staff were great at the hotel and i can honestly say we have no complaints and will definetly be returning soon
Cheers
