My wife and I have stopped at the "Suites" sister hotel, The Howbeck, several times before (always an excellent experience) On our last visit, after a chat with the Proprietor, we were given a "sneak preview" of the Windermere Suites and we simply couldn't wait to book! The quality of the accomodation has to be expereinced to be appreciated (frankly, the website doesn't do it justice!) Having stayed at the sister hotel & enjoyed we thought we would try the new Windermere suites which is next door, the suite was very very nice, the most comfortable large bed ever and a lovely comfortable although comtemporary atmosphere. Bathrooms are the nicest i have seen with a tv above spa bath, how cool! Breakfasts do have to be pre ordered as they do at the other hotel but again excellent, only complaint was that there was too much food & lots wasted. We heard about The Windermere Suites via The Howbeck - as they are owned by the same people - The Windermere Suites being newly opened in Dec '08. We were originally interested in The Retreat at The Howbeck, but found it was booked and were happy to book a room at The Windermere Suites, which has eight rooms (I think) all like The Retreat. We are very happy you enjoyed the suites, we are sorry about the batteries in the controller but pleased the staff sorted this out for you. We note you points of fors and againsts, when we decided to open the suites we thought we would do them close to the village rather than remote, this has been well recieved for those who want to enjoy the villages and nightlife, however, yes you are right, if you want remote and lots of fields and sheep out your window please dont expect this at the suites as we are on the village outskirts between Windermeer and Bowness villages. We found Windermere Suites on Google & found the web site so tempting we booked, upon arrival we where greeted by a very pleasant member of staff, courteous and very informative, when She showed us to our suite my Wife’s face lit up with joy, finally I had got something right for her birthday treat! The bathrooms are out of this world, it could end up costing me much more than the £170 per night we paid for b&b as I now have a new bathroom on the shopping list for home, we had breakfast at 9.30ish ( had to be pre ordered & your time...
