Excellent value
Fantastic location right in the Bay, near all the fantastic bars & restaurants. Staff were brilliant....really friendly & helpful. Room was clean & had everything we needed. Couldn't go wrong for the money. We were 3 girls in a room and only paid £25 each for 2 nights...bargain. Even the car parking was free in a fantastic secure car park!!! Would definately stay here again....you have the best of both worlds. It's in the Bay, but only a £2 return bus fare into the city centre.
Good value, excellent location, background noise advice
Agree with almost all the previous reviews: location absolutely perfect for access to the Cardiff Bay attractions, etc. Hotel is easy to find and is very new, clean, and all you would need for a budget price. Tip: Book online to save with this chain, sometimes 50% off. However, be aware that rooms on the east side are prone to noise all night long from carparks and the aircon machinery of the Casino next door; it's not a major problem as double-glazing reduces the sound level considerably, but I would still advise that it might be better to... more
Top hotel, everything was great!!
Where do I start! The hotel is excellent, in a great location, next to the red dragon centre where you can enjoy good restaurants, cinema, bowling and the doctor who exhibition, 2 minutes walk to Mermaid quay, which has lots to do and see!! The rooms are very clean, serviced daily by the maid. The staff are very helpful and friendly, cant do enough for you. The manager Adam was very welcoming on arrival, he was very attentive and helpful. Also one of the receptionist there was fab, Kim, she was great with the kids and always... more
If you want to be sure of a room, book elsewhere
When you are asked to pay in advance for a room, it seems reasonable to expect you will actually get a room. Apparently not. The other night I turned up at reception to find that there was no room for me. It seems they have a policy of overbooking, in the hope that someone doesn't show up. The guy on reception kindly offered to transfer me to another Travelodge half an hour down the M4. Without a car and having an early breakfast meeting in the bay, this wasn't much use to me. So instead I waited in the hotel until they could... more
Very good Travelodge
This was my second visit to Cardiff in 6 months, the last time we stayed just outside the city centre in another Travelodge which whilst being clean and very good value for money it wasn't a patch on the Cardiff Atlantic Wharf. I chose this hotel this time purely for it's location as we had a little bit of free time on our hands prior to work commitments. The hotel itself is in an excellent location just a few minutes walk from Cardiff bay, and also right beside the " Red Dragon " complex that has a Cinema, bowling alley , restaurants... more
Excellent value, great location
My husband and I spent one night in this hotel when in Cardiff for 6 nations rugby match. Free parking outside the hotel was convenient. A charge of £10 for early check seemed reasonable, as it meant we could occupy the room from 9.15am. Most welcome after a very early start and long journey. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. at all times The room was clean and comfortable, with tea and coffee making facilities. The bed was very comfortable. I did find it a nuisance to have to go down to reception to borrow a hair dryer.<br... more
Best travelodge I've stayed in
The hotel is new, so yes its in very good condition, but it is also blessed with excellent staff. All were cheerful and showed genuine consideration- much appreciated after a long journey!
good value for small pockets
This is a new hotel so we expected a relatively good standard. We had a family room which although clean could have benefitted from having the carpet swept. We had to make up the beds for the children ourselves with the duvet and sheet packs provided and we only had pillows and towels for two but the very friendly staff soon sorted that out. The breakfast was great and the children ate free, plenty of choice from a traditional fry up to croissants and fruit which was regularly topped up for those coming in later. Although this is a new hotel... more
cheap and cheerful (brilliant)
I booked this hotel before it was buit for an amazing £9 a night. We stayed 3 nights and were really pleased with the accomodation and the perfect location. The room was super clean and provided all the basic stuff for a midweek break.(No mini soaps or shampoo etc) I would rather use my own toileteries than the hotels anyway.Ther is a wallmounted flat screen t.v somewhere to hang clothes tea & coffee, towels and a large comfy bed.Plenty of free parking. We didn't use the car for 3 days as there are loads of places to eat on the... more
Very good
We went to this Travelodge to stay as we went to watch a concert at the CIA (Cardiff International Arena) It was a great location and fairly nearby. 15 min walk, few mins on a train (and about £1 fare) or 5 min drive. Parking near CIA is outrageously priced!! £11 for the day average, unless a weekend when about £5 daily. Parking at the hotel is free fabulous..it is situated in a small retail park called red dragon centre. You need to take a ticket to enter the retail park, this is then vaidated when you checkout so no paying for... more
Brand new when we visited
This is a brand new Travelodge and we were amongst the first to check in and probably the first to use room 202. Being brand new, you cannot complain about the standards and cleanliness as it was less than a few days old. Hopefully the website will be updated as the photos that they are currently using to showcase the Travelodge are not a true representation of the rooms at all, but that said it is a Travelodge and the standards are very similar. When parking don't worry about taking the ticket from the machine to get in as... more
