Barcelona Urbany Hostel

We stayed at the Urbany Hostel for 3 nights in September. We paid for a 4 bed private room with ensuite which cost around £25/night with breakfast included. First the rooms are quite small, even by hostel standards. The bunk beds are comfortable enough and a nice touch is that they have UK plugs in the walls which means even if you forget your adapter it isn't a big deal. The ensuite was fine and was cleaned well every day. The shower was good but the water keeps stopping every two minutes so you have to keep pressing the shower knob... more

Please ignore any reviews complaining about this place, as if I need to remind people IT'S A HOSTEL!!!! All you should be expecting is that it's cheap, clean, safe/secure and somewhat central, which it is. We were on there for 3 days on a stag do, so we weren't exactly interested in staying round the hostel, but it had a cheap bar and friendly staff. I am not the hostel type but I had to stay in this hostel because I was with a group of friends. For a hostel, it was clean and not bad. The location is not that great but a metro station is 3 blocks away (the clot metro stop). The rooms were very small. They did not supply towels. The shower in the bathroom stays on for about a minute so you have to keep turning it on which can be pretty annoying. This is a hostel, not a 5-star hotel, so don't expect them to do every little thing possible to make you comfortable. Breakfast wasn't bad, typical European breakfast. If you'r really tired of cereal and rolls, head down to the cafe across the street that sells coffee+croissant for under 2 euro. Went with 6 other friends. 5 guys 2 girls altogether. Given a 8-men dorm with ensuite. First of the many problems, lifts smell of fart. i have no idea why but many areas in this hostel smell of fart. i think it's the sewage problem... Secondly, the ensuite bathroom has 2 shower cubicles. and the doors of these cubicles are translucent. WHY? i have no idea.It makes it so inconvenient for girls to shower especially with guys around.
