A timewarp has occured here
I thought we had gone back in time the poorly decorated hotel sadly needs money spending on it to bring it up to standard. The price for a room is very excesasive in comparison to the poorly decorated rooms it has on offer food was good in the retaurant staff were not very freindly and mostly not local in all avoid if you can
Fit for purpose
Had to stay in the town for one night and booked the family room for 3 adults. Good spacious room (double and 2 singles) well equiped and clean. En suite bathroom well equiped with plenty of white fulffy towels. The hotel was very busy but we were able to book for dinner which we all enjoyed. Service was good considering the number of diners they were coping with. Only down side - the carpet in the bar should be removed - dirty and sticky. Had the feel of an old inn. Enjoyable stay in a lovely town.
Clean and friendly
The Royal Ship Inn in Dollgellau is next to the Y Sospan restaurant. We stayed just for one night. We paid £90 I think for a double ensuite. The room was large and clean if a little dated and shabby in it's decor. The public areas seemed clean too. Breakfast was good. The staff were friendly. Perfectly adequate for what we needed.
Maybe there 's another Royal Ship Hotel?
I find it difficult to believethat we stayed at the same hotel described by other reviewers. The room was spotless. very comfortably furnished and included a modern bathroom with power shower. The staff were always polite, attentive and helpful. Food was superb, well cooked.large portions, well presented. We travelled with our two little dogs who were also made welcome and enjoyed their stay. We will definately be visiting this hotel again.
Absoultly Awful
I've stayed in many regional hotels in areas where you don't expect the service to be that of a large hotel chain in a city.. but this is beyond description. I have never felt so unwelcomed upon entering an establishment, the service was rude and incompetent. The rooms were disgusting... I spent a half an hour fishing pubic hair from the bath tub whilst running a bath for my wife, the bedding smelt, the pillows were old and needed replacing...a disgrace. I can take quirky, but I don't excuse dirty. This hotel NEEDS to be... more
Dreadful
Not too sure where to start, but in a nutshell: - Hotel very run down - Rooms dirty, not properly cleaned and pillows stank - Staff incompetent and rude - Very poor value for money Unless you have to, I would suggest staying elsewhere.
fawlty towers
we originally booked for the meirionnydd via late rooms however we were contacted later that day by someone from the hotel, the room we had booked was not available and would we like to be booked in a nearby hotel, so we were booked in the royal ship hotel. what a dump. depressing, old fashioned, tired looking decor. ok it needed updating, which is usually coped with if the standard of hygiene is high. no such luck here, the room we stayed in was not clean, the carpet looked like it had not seen a hoover in years and the towels were... more
