Cheap Clean Central Hotel
This hotel was only opened in 2008 right in the centre of Chester. They often do special offers with £9 rooms - which is what we got. Yes the room is basic but it is clean and has everything you need. I can't imagine staying there on holiday but for a night out in Chester it is perfect when all you want is somewhere to sleep! They could have done so much more with the large rooms and beautiful high ceilings but it serves its purpose.
Perfect location, very good value for money
We stayed there over Christmas for a few nights to spend some quality family time and it turned out to be a great choice! The hotel is ideally located, right in the centre of Chester. Our room was very spacious, clean and comfortable, not to mention very good value for money! The only bad point was that there is no car park but there are plenty of paying car parks only metres away from the hotel but if you are staying for a few nights it can be quite expensive.Apart from that, everything else was great and we had one of the best Christmas... more
Excellent location
Stayed in this travelodge for 3 nights at £19 a night. Found the staff helpfull and friendly and if we needed anything just ask, like more coffee and tea bags. Stayed in a front facing room and didn't have any problem sleeping. We did stay at the coldest spell the country has had and once we worked out how to use the heating we were nice and warm. Ideal location with the cenre just around the corner. Car park nearby and my only gripe is that it cost us £30 to park but we did not use the car while we were there because we had everything we... more
Christmas at Chester
Visited this travel lodge after booking the £9 a night deal, having seen some of the previous reviews, got a bit worried about what to expect. Parked in the nearest multi storey as parking was not available on the doorstep. £10 for 24 hours, not bad for city centre parking. Went looking for somewhere to eat in the city centre, but ended up next door in the pitcher and piano. Sunday night was really quiet, but they did 2 for 1 meals and offers on beer, so enjoyed the evening there. Rooms are really basic, but modern by... more
Chester Christmas Lights - loved you, hated the hotel.
I appreciate that this is a new hotel with possible teething troubles. The facade is beautiful and the location perfect for shopping. But minimilistic extras for guest economy? I don't think so. Bare is a better description. It's only redeeming factor was that it was clean and the bed comfortable if a little cramped. I assure you I do not expect 5 star quality from a 3 star hotel at £62 per night. I can do without a wardrobe and use a rail to hang my clothes I can do without a bedside table and put my clock into a small... more
great location
Stayed for one night, great location and the NCP car park is a short walk away. We have two small children so we were looking for a family room, we did not expect anything great as long as it was clean and comfortable. I was a little concerned after reading the reviews, we found our room clean and well presented, however there was evidence, housekeeping did not like to vacuum much. We heard no noise from any other rooms, however due to the high celings the sound echoed in the bedroom we were in. Only saw one staff member the whole time we... more
Nice, friendly but some night noise.
Stayed 2 nights at this Travelodge in a family room with my daughter. Had a room at the front. Very large, with double bed and single with another bed under it as is usual for a family Travelodge room. Nice decor and very high celings. Costs £3.50 for a taxi to the Travelodge from the train station. Bathrooms are good with a powerful shower, complementary soap and clean white towels. Generally clean. Some slight housekeeping issues, there was no toilet roll on arrival, when I asked for a roll, they gave us two nearly finished... more
Excellent.
We have just returned from a 3 day stay at this hotel. Well presented in a nicely refurbished building it is extremely well situated for everything Chester has to offer. Less than 5 minutes walk from the main shopping area and and about 1 minute from the walls with the Roman amphitheatre directly opposite. We parked in a nearby multi-storey with no problems and it was surprisingly reasonably priced. A good sized room with a nice powerful shower, the only problem being the cleaning leaving a little to be desired, on the first... more
Great hotel but no parking!!!!
The hotel was a lovely hotel, very modern and the power shower was really nice. It was basic but it was at such a great rate so i couldn't have expected any more.... The only bad thing about this hotel is that it has no parking.. so we parked in the pepper street car park and it was 9 pound to park every day and we stayed there for four nights so it soon mounted up as you can imagine. But apart from that it was such a good location and i was impressed..
Good Central Location
Took a bit of finding to start with. But once parked up at the Pepper street car park it was only a minute away on foot. Good central location only a couple of minutes walk from the main shopping streets. We were visiting Chester to take part in the Leukaemia research Forget me not walk and it was only a short distance from the start of that too. The room was large which good level of finish, just one modern art style picture, other than that plain white walls. We only had a shower room which wasn't a problem as we are shower people but... more
best travelodge
we came here for one night, myself and 2 children. The room was spotless and reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The situation of the hotel was perfect and we didn' t here any noise. The one thing they could change would be the television channels so there was at least one for children. We had a great time at chester as would return to the travelodge without any hesitation.
Travelodge with character!
I booked this Travelodge around four months ago at an excellent rate of £29 for a Saturday night! This hotel is a new breed of Travelodge featuring a new room design and a generally fresher apperance. The hotel is placed within the upper floors of the Chester Exchange develpment. It occupies an enviable position opposite the the excavated roman ampitheatre within minutes of everything to see. The old building dating from the 1800's features a traditional apperance with little corporate branding, high celings in rooms and lovely sash... more
