Hillcrest Guest House

Myself and my family visited York during the first weekend in June 2009 to celebrate a special birthday. Where better to spend a family celebration. The service I received when I booked Hillcrest was excellent. The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful - a more pleasant and professional approach than what I received from another B&B! A last minute booking on a Bank Holiday weekend.... You think you'll end up in the place no-one wants to stay at ~ but we were fortunate enough to come across the last room at the Hillcrest (Thanks to previous TripAdvisor posts for helping make our minds up!) and were absolutely over the moon ~ our room looks newly refurbished ~ tiny shower room, but exquisite and all you need. Hillcrest is a fair sized B & B situated outside the city walls on one of the main routes into the city. Advantages: • Within walking distance of City centre and all the sights. • Run by a very welcoming and pleasant couple who provide an excellent service - they provided what has been probably the friendliest reception I've experienced in a B & B. • Despite being on the main road – my room, situated at the rear of the property, was totally quiet. • Room of good size (see picture). • Rooms recently... more

In the middle of a refurb at the moment but a lovely place to stay..Our room was dated but spotless. Our friends room had been done and was great..The staff couldn't do enough for us...Friendly and very helpful...In a good position about 15 mins walk to the centre..Would recommend to anyone...

Very happy wth hotel very clean and comfortable, service and breakfast was great, good location for york centre, with a pleasant walk along the river, would recommend to all.

We have been in York for the first time and it was a excellent week. Hillcrest was convinient to walk to the centre and the landlady gave us good tips what was very helpful she speaks german. We enjoyed the guesthouse it was quiet and our room was newly refurbished and clean we had a coffee and tea cooker in our room what was a bonus. The English breakfast was delicous and served with a smile we were offered more the service was very friendly and welcoming.
