never again
Arrived at the hotel checked in ok. Entered an absolutely filthy room covered in dust bedding was also stained. You are not allowed to take any food or drink to your room or you will be fined 50 pounds and you will be caught as stated on 1 of the many rules signs. 3 weeks after checking out of the hotel i noticed a 50 pounds charge to my credit card and contacted the hotel straight away to ask why they have charged my card their reply was they had never received the key back. Which was actually handed into 1 of the owners.... more

I would like to respond to your issue, firstly we have no record of you staying or losing keys at this hotel if you had spoken to either myself or my partner we would have knowledge of it, perhaps you could tell us which one of us you spoke to, we are not in the habit of ripping people off. I suggest you contact us again to discuss further, also why have you not contact your card issuer who would of investigated your complaint for you and they would of also contacted us, this is something I would of done to ensure conmen do not rip me off

The WOW factor
Well this hotel is just fabulous. First time I stayed here and I had a fantastic time. Made to feel very welcome as soon as I arrived, bar area was alive and buzzing, with some fantastic tunes playing. The room I was allocated (105) was just superb, lovley and clean very roomy and bright, crisp clean laundry and I even had towels laid out on the bed. I even had access to free high speed WIFI! Loads of freebies in the room including soap, and a huge selctions of tea and coffee. The tv had many channels and not the... more
Probably one of the worst hotels in the country!!
Upon arrival we were immediately requested to pay upfront with a 1.5 percent charge on a debit card! this is unheard of in any other business establishment and it is tanktamount to extortion and extremeley bad business practice. The rooms were basic and upon first impression quite clean, however, the shower was of little or no practical use as no pressure. The bedding was an absolute disgrace please see attatched photographs. The rules and regulations attatched to the door in the hotel were akin to a establishment in the 1940s. A you can not... more
Management response from Richard1948161HQ

I would like to respond to the guest that stayed at my hotel on the dates above. I would like to answer his review as he was clearly unable or unwilling to speak to me during his stay. The £1.50 charge for cards is infact standard for most businesses (checkout airlines, cinemas, and booking lines) we are charged by the card companies. You could of paid by cash and this would of been offered to you. I apologise for the state of your bedding and action has been taken to rectify this with the cleaners, and I thank you for bringing it to my attention. However, late that turned out to be. If you had a problem with your shower perhaps you should of used your communication skills verbally to me rather than allow yourself to leave my hotel unsatisified as I would of had the shower checked or moved you and your companion to another room. The issues you raise regarding the rules & regulations being akin to the 1940's, I do not see these rules as being anything but sensible practice for the hotel. We do not allow alcohol in the rooms as we have a licensed bar with a licensed area for guests to drink in, and I would also like to add this comment would you bring your own sandwiches into a Mcdonalds restaurant and then expect to be allowed to eat them there. NO!. Visitors are quite rightly not allowed into guest rooms this is to satisfy our health & safety obligations, as you may or may not remember you were requested to complete a guest registration form which asked for the names of your companions, this is requested for my benefit and also for the benefit of the fire brigade in case of an emergency they would need to know who was in the room/building and send in the right amount of officers for the people in the room hence saving your life. SIMPLE AS THAT Breakfast has been and always will be served between 09:30 and 10:00, you could of arrived at 09:59 and stayed in there for as long as it took you to eat you breakfast. these timings have never caused a problem before, our dinning room holds 40 seats more than enough to accommodate all guests, in the three years I have had the pleasure of owning the Mardi Gras Hotel, I have NEVER charged guests for wanting more, I do have a notice displayed but I am also not going to justify to you why that notice is there. You say stay at the Hilton and I must say that is your choice, but please remember that if you have a problem next time in a hotel you are staying at, and of course you will as you are the type to find fault where ever you are staying, you should use your well chosing written words verbally to the person that can make a difference to your stay in the here and now, then you would not have to be so rude as to say that my hotel is the worst hotel in the country. We at the Mardi Gras Hotel are dedicated to running our hotel in a professional manner, our guests are paramount for us operating a succesful hotel/business, issues can arise and we pride ourselves in rectifiying any of these issues immediatley.

rude staff
staff were generally very rude throughout our stay and also charged us £50 for a lost key, although we never actually lost the key and accused us of lying. i would not recommend this hotel to anybody it was an absolute disgrace...........rooms aldo smelt and were dirty, the bed was broken and very uncomfortable.......the worst hotel i have ever stayed in
best gay hotel in blackpool
We booked a twin room for a Saturday night stop over at the Mardi Gras and were pleasantly surprised. Steve who runs the place emailed and contacted me by phone before midday the very next day to confirm the booking and we were quoted £50 for the en suite including breakfast for 2 persons. A nice personal touch. We arrived by train, strolled the few minutes walk to the hotel location easily loacating the hotel and its residents making good use of the bar and pool table and the outside terrace as the last of the fading September sun... more
