Booked penthouse for weekend and was a little disappointed. Admittedly price is more that of an upmarket suite than a Penthouse (£550 per night) and that's what we got, but we still felt that the hotel could and should have done better. We stayed for 1 night - a saturday and the place was very lively. We enjoyed this. The restaurant was buzzy and it looked though much fun was to be had in the bar. Though we didn't go, opting instead for a post dinner meander around Southport which at 11pm was a bit wild west for us but depends on what you like... We stayed for 2 nights and althought the exterior and interior of the hotel are great, the attention to detail is lacking slightly. Coffee is £1 a cup and newspapers to be paid for, something I would expect to be included in the price of the room at a hotel attempting to be at the top end of the market. 3 lights (of a poorly lit room) were not working and despite reporting them to reception at 11am they remained unfixed by our departure the following morning. Stayed at the Vincent Hotel for Valentine's Day. Got a special Rate at the beginning of the year, only £99 - very good compared to some of the rates quoted. Stayed for one Saturday night to attend a concert in Southport. Beds were comfiest I have found. Room/bathroom decor was a bit too dark for my taste. Not enough room in bathroom to put your own personal things. Liked window and screen but we were on 4th floor and the noise from discos went on until 3.00 am!! Had meal in Deli and was good food but service poor and it was by no means full. Opted for breakfast in room but was a disaster. Ordered hot baguette and sent savoury tomato ciabbatta instead!! Finally, Southport has a quality hotel. In fact, it must be one of the best hotels anywhere in North Lancs. Brand new, no creaking Victorian pile or cheap and basic chain hotel, it offers stylish accommodation with excellent food. The room (V-studio) had a huge, comfortable bed with spotless linen and was very comfortably furnished, even a chaise-longue. The bathroom was a little cramped; the shower/bath was hard to get into and anyone with mobility problems could be in trouble. It needs a handrail as a minimum. Lovely monsoon shower though.... more

We stayed at the Vincent Hotel for two nights in September 2008 as we were going to a wedding locally. We booked the hotel in April before it had even been built so were expecting great things. We arrived late on Friday after a horrendous journey on the M6, feeling tired and hoping to be processed quickly so we could relax. Moved into the Vincent after a terrible experience at the Prince of Wales - what a fab hotel - light and day compared to it's competition. The main hotel website probably gives a good view of what the general vibe of the hotel is and it really isn't that expensive in comparison to others. Sometimes hotels like this can become a bit "up themselves" and previous reviews (now that I've read them) seem to indicate that previous reviewers might have experienced this, but I can't say that I found that - reception were friendly and attentive... more

Stayed at the Vincent Hotel for 1 night only as we were attending a Wedding Reception there. First impressions was checking in with Reception which I didn't find very welcoming, I don't know how many times my husband had to say that we had a car that we would like valet parking but we was shown better hospitality from the members of staff that were dealing with the wedding reception. At last, a first rate property has come to Southport. My husband and I arrived at The Vincent and were greeted by a very smartly dressed porter who was both welcoming and friendly. The reception staff checked us in efficiently and we were taken to our fourth floor room which had views towards the sea. Instead of bedroom curtains there was a large sliding panel with a stunning black and white picture on it which slides across and acts as a black out blind - great idea. Our visit was only a week after the hotel opened and surprisingly there was not many teething problems. On the down side, breakfast was very slow but was good when it arrived. Thought it was expensive at £12.50 for a cooked fairly small breakfast which did not include coffee. My husband had a top up of coffee and was charged the full price.
