Friendly town, good value, clean, comfortable and welcoming hotel
As it´s low season on the coast everyone is working towards being all ship shape for the high season, Podada El Moro is no different, despite the building work that is going on currently the hotel is a lovely place to enjoy the surrounding area from and the manager is very kind, informative and accommodating. (the building work starts at 8am but you can ask him to delay it if you want to sleep in and he will!) We planned to stay for 1 week and stayed for 2! The breakfast is simple but nice, cereals, toast, fruit, coffee and tea,... more
Great little spot
My husband and I (with our 22-month old son in tow) were looking for a quiet and affordable location to spend one evening before heading south to Tulum. After reading the favorable reviews on Trip Advisor we booked our stay on-line with the propietor Miguel. If you are looking for a simple, clean, friendly, and affordable location look no further. Our room included a double-bed and futon, and had a ceiling fan and A/C (a plus since not all the rooms have A/C and we're not accustomed to the summer humidity). This is a no frills spot,... more
so cosy...
THis little hotel is on the riviera maya but away from the crazyness in a small village call Puerto Morelos. We resided in one of the two rooms with kitchenette. Very clean, tv, ac, fridge but don't expect to cook anything. There's only two stove rond and no oven. But, the breakfast is included (fruits, cereals and bread, coffee...). Nothing big but ok. There is a small pool in the garden. Very cute. The people there are extra nice: Miguel speaks excellent english and Olivia is good too.
comfortable and great location
We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and loved it. We had a room on the top floor and had great views of the rooftops from the porch. Our room had no TV but a good air conditioner and fan. We had some problems with the shower - very low water pressure and sometimes none at all in the mornings, i guess when there where other people taking showers. Our room was very large. The bed had a foam layer on top which we found too soft but we took it off and slept very well after that. The location is great, you are right in town but its... more
Nice room, but lapses in customer service
I spent one night at the Posada El Moro and was pleased with some aspects of my stay. My room was lovely — spacious, light, airy, and quiet, with simple furnishings and some charming touches. In addition, Erika (who speaks English) and her mother (who does not) were very amiable. The inn is very conveniently located, and internet is available during certain limited hours. I was, however, a bit disappointed in the customer service. For one thing, when I was first shown my room, they discovered that the lock was broken. I was... more
Great Value
We stayed for two nights at the end of January. Puerto Morelos is a lovely fishing village about 20mins from Cancun. This was a great first stop after landing late at the airport and was very easy to get to. The hotel has very clean simple rooms. Our room had air conditioning and ceiling fan - which you do need to keep you cool at night. The room was spacious and contained plenty of space for luggage, a large futon and adequate en-suite toilet / shower. The inclusive breakfast was a nice start to the day, with plenty of fresh... more
grat value!
Posada el Moro is very simple family run hotel. We came with our 1.5 year old daughter on the nights of Jan 1-3 2008. We paid $75 per night, which was a great value, especially for the holidays! We stayed in room no. 1 (suite), on the second floor that faced the street, I'm not sure if this was the room that the other traveler reffered to as noisy, but we didn't have any problems with it. No noise at all, and mind you it was the holidays. The suite had 2 rooms, one with 2 double beds, toilet and shower, and the other like a living... more
very pleased with the hotel
A group of us stayed there twice in November (3 rooms one night, 4 rooms the second). The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. Erika was schooled in Texas and is completely proficient in English -- she handles the reservations through the web site. We had to pay the first night deposit, but we sent a personal check to a relative in Houston. Much easier than trying wire transfers, and Erika sent an acknowledgement when the check was received. Puerto Morelos is about 15-20 min south of the Cancun airport and much quieter and... more
Great little place!
I was lucky enough to stay here twice in the past year! Both times, I was charmed. This inn is about a block from the central plaza in Puerto Morelos and 2 blocks from the ocean/ beach. The owner and her daughter are very friendly, welcoming and nice. Erica, the daughter, speaks perfect English--she went to high school in Texas. She also can book you on a fair trade Mayan village tour--not exploiting the Mayans, if you wish. They have a nice selection of cold foods and juices for breakfast, included in the cost. There is a pleasant... more
Nice place to stay
Yes, this place is a deal. We payed about $65 per night for the studio with a kitchenette. It had a/c, but we never used it - instead just turning on the ceiling fan. The staff was excellent, the shower (like someone else said) was sketchy, but the beds were comfy (firm). The noise level was high - in part due to the night club down the street, but we also happened to be there during a festival, which had bands playing VERY loud music until 2am or so. My suggestion... siesta in the afternoon, like the locals, and then stay up for the... more
Nice Little Inexpensive Hotel w/ GREAT front desk staff, BUT...........
This was a good hotel for the price ($50ish per night). So really at that price I didn't expect much from the room. Bed, couch, shower, toilet......the basics are what's provided. The shower was little sketchy, but then again you're only paying $50. BE FOREWARNED................................................. ................This quaint little hotels is 2 doors down (on the back side of the hotel)from a local night club! And remember all the buildings are concrete and sound resonates of them. We had a horrible night's... more
