a clean hotel but not much personality!
me and my pregnant girlfreind stayed her for 1 week in early december 2007 . the hotel itself was very clean the room was quite impressive but it just felt like we was just in a middle of nowhere , though the evening golf coarse is BRILLIANT!!. the evening food outside by the pool was very very nice , try a curry as there is more indians in dubai than in india or so it seems . there was 2 very nice pool boys who loved english football so i had great topics with them about tottenham being the biggest club in london . this... more
too expensive and too isolated
Second annual visit in february half term. Still great facilities and weather. But, with the changes in the £ exchange rate, everything is much more expensive. Didn't go for the half board option this time, so went to the lunch buffet on day 1 and got a bill for 4 of over £100, including the obligatory 10% service charge - for self service buffet . Took a bit more care withe prices from then on. Our routine ended up being morning at the pool, taxi into RAK ( about 20 miles and £6) to Shopping Mall Food Court for lunch, and back to the... more
Fairytale :-)
I was there from 18 July 2007 to 25 July 2007 with my boyfriend and it was great!!! We love it! Weather - it was about 40 degrees. At first we were a bit "shocked", but we became acclimatized already the second day of our stay - so it was´t problem.. Air condition is everywhere. Accomodation - we were accomodated in the Village - we had double room with a huge bed :-) and large bathroom with bathtub (+ also hairdryer). Twice a day we got clean towels and they cleaned our room. In room - air condition, TV, minibar, safe.<br... more
relaxing holiday
stayed at the al hamra fort june 2007 and have to say it was an even better holiday than i expected. the staff cannot do enough for you the food was excellent and lots of variety and the rooms were very comfortable and clean. also there is an excellent golf course and at least 3 swimming pools and the beach is only a short distance away. would definitely return martin and aileen co donegal ireland
Great place to relax!
We stayed at the Al Hamra Fort Townhouses for a week in mid June. We based our decision to go on previous reviews here on Trip Advisor. The most important point to make at the start is that the town houses are not like a normal 5 star hotel. They are basically a street of houses set apart from the main hotel but with their own pool, bar, restaurant and reception. The main al Hamra Fort Hotel is 400metres away. We spoke to some other guests who were disappointed at the lack of a “5 star” lounge area or the fact there was only one... more
Fab resort very clean excellent value
We stayed for just 3 nights for my husbands birthday in March and having looked at hotels on Jumeira beach and the cost this was a bargain. The resort was immaculate and we had a junior suite which was excellent and had a huge bed. We arrange the hotel to collect us from the airport and we were slightly delayed and Passport control is a nightmare at Dubai airport but they waited three hours for us. The hotel bus was fully booked but we found it so much easier to book a taxi from outside ( not the hotel one ) 300 dhs for 6 hours when the... more
beautiful setting and immaculate grounds
we just came back from al hamra village after staying for a week and a relaxing week it was.we stayed in the townhouses overlooking the pool ,i was very impressed to say the least, the pool and the grounds were kept pristine.the rooms were spacious and the bed was v comfortable, their was 3 of us and plenty of room for a bed for our child. The village area itself was v impressive to look at and was surrounded by a beautiful golf course not yet opened.Their ar plans to build a 7 star hotel across the way from it and by the looks of it its... more
Great relaxing stay
Stayed at the Al Hamra Fort for 7 nights in October. It is about an hours drive from Dubai airport. If you contact the hotel prior to your stay they will collect you free of charge. We stayed in a villa in the grounds and were very impressed with the room. Bathroom was large with bath and seperate shower. Everywhere was spotless and the room was cleaned twice a day. The buffet breakfast was included in the cost of our holiday and was of high standard. We ate in the main restaurant a few times in the evening and was impressed... more
cool for families
Holidayed with another family of four and really enjoyed our stay. Staff gave us excellent service - paying extra special attention to the children. Food was of a good standard - the 'feasts' were good value. This resort has pools, beaches, watersports and an easy going atmosphere.
RAK -- out of the way but A O K!
I have stayed at the Al Hamra Fort on business on three occassions. The hotel is pretty much out of the way, as is RAK. But it is wholly self contained and very, very nice. Plenty of tourists from all around the world. Nice leisure activities. Good support for us there working. Great restaraunts, particularly the outstasnding seafood place. Wow, the best lobsters I have had in many moons. The Arab dinner restaurant is great and the Brazilian (!) belly dancer is amazing. Very nice pools. Water skiing within a 50 meter walk from the... more
Excellent place!
I have stayed at Al Hamrah Town House for three nights in September. The place is really nice and very friendly. Before we departed from UK, I called the hotel to book transfer from the airport ( Free ). When we arrived to Dubai International airport, the Hotel Car was waiting for us & the driver immediately served us with cold water and towels to make us feel comfortable. He also told us everything we needed to know about Dubai and RAK as well as all the facilities available in the hotel. I also told reservation that I will arrive at... more
Wonderful--if you have a car...
My stay was part of a special thru end of Sep. 2006. Dhs 799 per day, full-board for two. It was well worth the price. Townhouse accomodation is basically a suite w/bedroom, small living room and large bathroom. Beautifully furnished, rustic, clean, top notch. The townhouse area is private with beautiful grounds, pool, bar, restaurant and other facilities. It's best if one has a car to travel easily between the townhouse and main hotel where beach is.
