Premier Inn Birmingham Broad St Canal Side

Although we arrived a little early on the Saturday lunchtime the young lady behind reception (who seemed to be glued to her chair) allocated us a room on the second floor overlooking the car park – not the best of views but we had places to be and folk to meet so an intresting view was not high on our list of priorities. Overall, this hotel is typical of a Premier Inn - basic but comfortable. I stayed in this hotel for a conference at the ICC/NIA in June 08. Hotel is perfect location for these venues - only 5 minute walk. Room was adequate - clean with a very large comfortable bed, but not much space for anything else. Room got very hot overnight but fan was provided in room. I had a room on the canal side: please note that there is a club on the other side of the canal that is very loud. I was dreading staying at this hotel after my reading the reviews. But I have to say it was a pleasant stay. Free car parking availabe which was safe. Staff very friendly and welcoming, explained everything adding any problems at all please let us know. The room although small, was clean and cosy. very central so was easy to acess places and the motorway. A good experience, would stay again.

Perfect for business people attending the ICC and trying not to spend money.

We booked this hotel for a one night stay over in Birmingham. Premier Inn's are usually very basic and cheap, and we got what we paid for. The hotel is based right on the canal side, and 10 minutes walk from Birmingham New Street station and the Bullring. Rooms are simple and small. Spent friday night there last week, hotel staff were ok. the hotel could be sign posted better on there web site. car park ok and safe. down side the rooms are very small and sound proofing could be better. We didnt eat there as breakfast just so expensive. Lots of places to eat at half the price in the city centre. We left our car at hotel and walked into city centre to shop.

I spent two nights in this hotel at the end of April 2006, at the end of a tour of the Warwickshire/West Midlands area. The hotel is conveniently located just a short distance from New Street station - although a word of warning for anyone planning to walk it, it's all uphill! The staff were friendly, helpful and on-hand at all times. This hotel was diabolical! Stayed in alot of hotels in this chain, but this was in fact the worst. Location is brilliant, but apart from that, I wouldn't stay here again. Reception staff highly unco-operative. The afternoon that we checked in, the girl was very cheeky to us. Our room left alot to be desired also. No lock on the bathroom door and the heating didn't work. My advice would be to stay somewhere else!!

I have stayed here now for 2 or 3 nights a week on business. The check in process takes an age; it's not the staff but the system seems to take ages to enter your details. 10 minutes on average is a long time. I arrived at dinner and was the first in the restaurant only to be told that there was no steak. I could have popped out to the local shops and picked up a steak and cooked it myself if I had known. I have stayed at this Travel Inn twice, in May 2003 and 2004. I picked this hotel because it was nice and cheap at £54.95 and was centrally located for the city centre and the start of an annual long distance race that I was competing in the following day. It had the usual Travel Inn comforts. Fairly spacious room and bathroom. Both years I was given the choice of sleeping at the front of the hotel that was quieter. When I arrived here I was very dissapointed, the rooms are very unusaual; the toilet was in a different room from everything else!! Infact I disliked it so much that I moved to the Hyatt Regency (which was down the road) immediately, where I was very happy and enjoyed the rest of my stay in the city.
