Could be great with a little bit of effort
Booked a double room with laterooms for £65 and pleasently supprised to be put in room 6, large, cosy, modern and comfortable. As you are up in the roof, the ceiling slopes around the edge of the room - there's still plenty of head room and I quite liked this as it gives character, but if you're very tall it could be a problem. The decoration was in very good condition so I guess it had recently been refurbished. The bathroom again looked as though it had recently been done but as with so many hotels the finish was really poor with an... more
comfortable hotel
stayed for a 2 day B/B break, Hotel was clean with comfortable sized room great view over the garden, breakfast was good with plenty of choice. the staff were pleasant and helpful as working between reception and bar !! used local pub[ the fox ] 5 min's away for evening meals as great menu.
Very good standard - absolute bargain
Excellent! We were looking for a one night stay in the Oxford area. Thought we'd stay at a Travel Lodge until we found this gem. Only £50 per double room for B&B on a last minute rate. Very good standard of room. Clean. Excellent service. Highly recommended at the price.
Good standard 3 star hotel.
I have just spent the weekend at the Westwood Country Hotel, Oxford, with a group of friends and would say that our overall experience was extremely good. My room (number 1) was very light and airy with large windows on two sides. It was occupied as a single but had a comfortable double bed. The bathroom appeared new and was spotlessly clean with a good shower and bath. I had a flat screen portable TV and coffee making facilities. The room was clean and well presented. The property is a large Edwadian house with a nice terrace area and... more
The words Country House Hotel now make us shudder !
We joined this hotel for New Years Eve and stayed the one night. First impressions where good. Good parking and friendly receptionist, But it all went down hill from there. We where on the 2nd floor. The first flight of stairs was fine, and then you go through a very heavy fire door and up a steep narrow staircase. Room for only one medium build person and a small case to go up. Our room was in the eves of the house and we both managed to bump our heads in the bathroom. The water tricked out of the shower so I gave up on that. .It was... more
Disappointing
Friendly staff, but totally lacking in the charm and warmth we experienced at several other country hotels this last trip. It had the ambiance of a Days Inn Motel and there was mold in the electric kettle.
very nice hotel and enjoyable stay
We stayed Saturday night. There was a wedding at the hotel but this did not impact our stay in any way. If fact, we got a little bit of a discount bc of the wedding. (£85 for the night) Had a quaint room in the back looking out into the back yard/woods and it was great. Bathroom was a nice size and very modern. Taxi ride into town was about £8 which is very reasonable. Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay here and will def stay here again rather than at a hotel or B&B in the town center.
Weddings are still a priority at weekends!
After intially being greeted by a phone on reception and a note to dial for assistance to check-in - no one answered - staff were very attentive but only to the wedding guests who seemed to be a priority over any other guests. Rooms were lacking any attention to detail and although we had a family room, had my family been with me I certainly would not have allowed them to use the single beds - the covers had very nasty looking stains. There was a lack of information on the hotel, check-out times or bar times or even breakfast times and... more
Great hotel, Great setting
What a great place, we loved it. A beautiful setting, great food and fantastic service, and the refurbishment had made a huge difference. I have recommended the hotel to friends, and will definately come back again. Thanks for a memorable stay.
Weddings Take Priority at Westwood County Hotel
Having recently stayed at the Westwood Country Hotel we were disappointed with the general up keep of the premises e.g. The window frames to our bedroom were full of cracks with flaking paintwork. A more serious problem was that the hotel at its own admission neglect non wedding party guests when a wedding party is booked in. Unfortunately we were only told this after we complained. At the time of booking my wife and I were told that a wedding party was taking place at the same time that we were due to stay, but we were not informed that we... more
