Queensgate Hotel

This is a great hotel, with fantastic helpful staff and great facilities. On the outskirts of the centre next to POSH Footbal stadium. Catch the very frequent number 3 31 32 33 buses from the bus station (which is a stones throw from the railway station). Takes max 10 mins. Stop is right outside the front door of the hotel, be warned the taxi fares in Peterborough are quite expensive. The hotel itself has been refurbished and offers some great rooms in the new wing. We stayed here overnight on a shopping weekend. We weren't sure what to expect after reading other reviews but we were pleasantly suprised. We were in a refurbished room, it was spotlessly clean with a modern bathroom and the bed was one of the most comfortable we've had in a hotel. The decor throughout was lovely, loved the light fittings. We had plenty of choice for breakfast which was well cooked and plentiful and served by pleasant staff. Paid 55.00 for a double room ...I was shocked when i saw the size and condition of the room...there was no room to move around... the room was so small that the kettle was kept in the wardrobe...the walls were cracked from ceiling to floor.. the tiles on the toilet floor were cracked I actually cut my foot on these tiles...there was nowhere in the toilet to put any toiletries and when i tried to put toothpaste brush etc on the sink they slid off due to subsidence...Dirty room with cobwebs round the light fixtures...Would not recommend to... more

We have stayed at this hotel on numerous occassions now but this was our first stay since the hotel have spent 1.5 million on the refurb. The bedrooms and bathrooms are so much nicer now in the new part of the hotel. The restaurant is lovely with a good variety of meals and the breakfast is very good value for money. The staff are very friendly and can't do enough for you. The only improvement I would suggest is to update the bar area, it doesn't seem to have changed at all.

I stayed in this hotel for one night on business with the possibility of becoming a regular customer over the coming months. After one night I decided never to stay there again! I opted for the cheaper single room in the un-renovated section of the hotel which cost £39. Once I had found the reception desk tucked away at the back of the hotel, I checked in and was offered the option of a wake-up call which I took up.
