Lovely hotel, great pool
The outside of the hotel and its surroundings are very picturesque. The room was clean. Breakfast was good. The pool was my favorite bit. I picked this hotel as it was near Stratford. It was a little further than I expected. We’d booked for dinner in the town and were going to get a taxi back. We got a quote and it was in the region of 20 pounds. It seemed a lot when it was a straight road through and not that far away. I ended up driving in the end so was unable to have a drink with my meal.
Friendly Staff and Great Pool just lacking a little attention to detail
We booked through Superbreaks and have had a very nice and hassle free time of our stay. The hotel was not quite what we expected from the pictures (looks a little like a stately home but when you arrive you find a conference centre attached to the side and the back of the house). The staff were very friendly and helpful and we've had a very pleasent stay. The pool and related facilities were nice and clean (although the gym was a little small). The food was nice (and reasonably priced...unlike the drinks - £5 for a large... more
Could have been worse
Not a bad hotel but lacking in some attention to detail. Room could have been slightly cleaner, and there was rust on some of the bathroom fittings, and the shower leaked quite badly. Very much a conference centre primarily, but it was quiet on the weekend, which meant we pretty much had the pool to ourselves when we used it. We only had breakfast on the hotel. It was basic but OK. We ate twice at a lovely place called Chequers which is only 2 minutes away, I would highly recommend it. I didn't pay all that much for this... more
Lovely Hotel & Great Location
This was my second stay at Ettington chase and both trips have been very enjoyable! The hotel is in a lovely quiet town of Ettington which is a 10 min drive from the main town of Stratford Upon Avon which is full of great shops and lots of great restaurants... The town of Ettington has litterally less than 100 houses, 2 pubs and a post office so is very quiet but in the beautiful countryside. The hotel itself is pretty big, has a great pool with sauna and steam room that is open from very early in the morning until 10pm & is... more
'Reasonable priced getaway'
We spent recently 2 days at Ettington Chase Hotel - it was pretty much as we expected considering it is primarily a conference centre. We just wanted a base so that we could explore Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick Castle and the surrounding area. The room was clean, bed comfortable, was a little noisy but that didn't surprise us as people are coming and going all the time. The breakfasts were excellent with a great choice, the lounge bar didn't have any atmosphere as there was only us using it. We went to one of the local pubs... more
Breakfast shambles - Wi-fi Total Rip-off
The rooms are fine but the hotel doesn't listen to previous complaints, and breakfast ending at 9am, no-one topping up the hot buffet so bacon and fried eggs run out , and cold toast are some. My main issue is with them charging a horrendous £15 for a nights access to wi-fi, which is the equivalent of a decent main course. How this is justified when lots of hotels provide it for nothing, whilst I've stayed in London hotels and paid £10, is unbelievable. I shan't return unless they see sense and stop robbing guests.
Great place with lovely food
An ideal place to stay if visiting Stratford, Warwick or Birmingham. A little out of the way so you will need a car. Room was fine, with the usual tea, coffee etc, flat screen TV with limited sattelite channels. We had twin beds but both were too soft for us. Nice pool with jacuzzi and sauna. Lovely bar food - we ended eating in the bar all 3 days. Great breakfasts, but only until 9am during the week. We paid £60 per night through Late Rooms and it was very good value for money.
Decent hotel- little gripes
We used the hotel as a place to stay near to Stratford. There was a car show on, so the hotel was pretty busy but not overly so. The room was fine, the TV worked well and there was plenty of room. As it was weekend there was no meal available in the evening but the White Horse in the village (only 3 mins walk) was superb for food and fine ales. There were a few minor gripes though. The "power" shower was just a little trickle in our room and you needed the strength of Geoff Capes to turn the dial to get any water. The... more
