Casa Pombal

The Casa Pombal is a bit frayed around the edges, but retains some charm. The owners are friendly and extremely helpful, and the breakfast was varied and generous, continental-style, in a little room decorated with lovely blue tiles overlooking the small garden area. Our room was reasonably comfortable, with ensuite, though perhaps in need of a little TLC in the near future. TV in room with local Portuguese channels only. Somewhat basic, clean, comfortable accommodation. Excellent breakfast and friendly helpful Dutch proprietor. Well located next to university, high above the city centre, which is accessible by steep alleys and lanes. Close to the “Elevador do Mercado”, eliminating a hard slog to get back up the hill. Good value. Multiple narrow stairways to rooms. Had a fabulous view of the city from our…bathroom! Not so our bedroom, which was a bit pokey. Parking a little awkward, but not unfeasible.
