Best hotel we've ever stayed in
I can honestly say we had a superb weekend and wouldn't hesitate to go back. Everything from front of house to the room was excellent. We went for a birthday treat for my husband and couldn't have chosen better. We started with a beautiful afternoon tea and after a short walk, rest and bath enjoyed a fabulous dinner. The room was well fitted out and full of those 'little touches' that make things extra special. Breakfast was superb and it was a great shame to have to leave.
excellent hotel for business or leisure
Had business appointment in andover. Selected this hotel because it was reasonably priced and was near Andover . It far surpassed all the major chains who were charging considerably more and did not include breakfast . The room was very comfortable with large ensuite , free internet use which is essential for business. we had breakfast which was freshly cooked with plenty of choice. Staff were pleasant and very helpful. Would definitely stay again.
A world away from a normal day
This hotel was booked the day before staying after trawling the internet for a luxury hotel at minimal cost. I received the best rate B&B rate and stayed in a courtyard room for £99.00. The location was stunning, and I certainly was not dissapointed with my choice. The courtyard rooms have their own parking outside and the rooms were lovely. The finishing touches made the room delightful right down to housekeeping delivering handmade chocolates along with the weather report. A late check out meant a leisurely start to the day. Attention to detail is outstanding - great place and nice people!
Stayed here on the eve of a recent business trip with a colleague from The Netherlands. I chose the place because of reviews but also to allow my colleague to stay in something 'Really British'. To say I was impressed with the rooms (Courtyard Suite) and staff is an understatement. You could not wish for a better place to stay for peaceful nights sleep, beautiful location and attentive service. The rooms (Suites) are massive and you have an upstairs and downstairs to your room (Living Room downstairs / Bedroom Upstairs). All... more
gorgeous place and amazing staff, homely and elegant
A fantastic hotel with really attentive staff where nothing is too much trouble and yet they magnificently blend into the background when you want some privacy. Youthful staff give a spritly air of warmth and pleasure in this beautiful hotel. The room I stayed in was only the basic one but it was a great size and well styled. The bathroom was really cute with a huge shower and loads of water which I always think is a must but often neglected and just for the ladies who might be washing their hair in the bath there's a second shower on... more
afternoon tea - one scone too many!
Used the afternoon tea vouchers in the Daily Mail and had a lovely afternoon. The food selection was lovely delicious sandwiches, though more sandwiches and less cakes might have been slightly more healthy, though who goes for healthy when you are out for tea. The cakes were absolutely delicious. Only problem tea got cold and only got more hot water not offered another pot of tea, but after so many cups probably couldn't fit any more in. Lots of wildlife in the gardens - pheasants, squirrels and deer, and the odd jogger!
Excellent accommodation and meals in peaceful country setting
Stayed for one night on 30th September 2009 and had business dinner with colleague and client. Courtyard rooms were as good as any 5 star I have stayed in - excellent TV/Blue ray DVD player, robes, slippers, etc. Bed was first class. Had an excellent meal at reasonable price with a local English wine from Wickham that left all of us very impressed. Very relaxed setting for business meetings. Would definitely go back for business or pleasure as they also provide clay pidgeon shooting on the vast hotel grounds.
Go to Audleys wood
service does not happen in tghis hotel . every one seems to hide in a room off reception so if you want a drink or your dessert and you can not find any one just go and knock on the door opp the reception desk thats were they keep the few staff. the building is half hotel and half old people home so its quite un nerving every time you go to your room you have to pass the lounge of the old people
Beware: The hotel is a convdeted stables
I thought when booked this we would be staying at a country estate, and you are, the problem is, you do not stay in the main house, you stayed in the coverted horse stables! Definitely a three star property.
A good 3 star hotel
we were told that Oakley Hall was a 4star - as you drive up to the hall yes you would think 4star but it stops there - shortage of staff made you tend to keep going to reception to ask for drinks and then reception would be unmanned - you have to go outside to the bedrooms which is ok but in the best of british weather a brolly would be nice touch other wise you just get soaked - the room was new , a little unfinished such as no valance and the bed base was not the best looking, the furniture was if they had been to a sale as non of it was... more
