Best kept secret in town
from firedog13814
I was very pleased to find this nice motel so close to the night clubs and walking distance to the beach, that also had a bar and pool! The price is very reasonable, and the staff was very helpful and friendly. I will definitely stay here again, and recommend it to any students or budget minded travelers.
Good Value
from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed at the Azteca for two weeks in January 2006, as part of a package deal from Vancouver. The Azteca is good value as included in the package. It is a motel style hotel located in the heart of the Zona Dorada. It is not ocean front, but is within easy walking distance of many restaurants and beachfront hotels. The hotel is three stories surrounding the parking lot and small pool. Rooms on the top floor away from the pool are quieter, although the hotel was generally quiet at night. I didn't even need to wear earplugs! The room and...

Great Hotel, Would stay here everytime!
from A TripAdvisor Member
This was a great budget hotel. It is right in the middle of everything! The hotel was clean, the staff was great and the rooms were a really good size. It is right across the street from the beach. You can only get to the nice beaches from the beach front resorts but the hotels gives you free tickets to go to thier beaches and pools (although no one ever checked for them). It is in the middle of the shopping and restaurants and a few blocks from the clubs. They offer you a package deal when you get there, I would definetly suggest doing it...

I'd go back
from A TripAdvisor Member
The Azteca Inn was exactly what my family (couple + 2 young kids) wanted: it's clean, it has a pool, it’s walking distance from a large number of eateries, it's a very short walk to the beach and it’s a short cab ride from downtown. The service was fine and the staff were friendly. In some ways, the Azteca is more a motel than a hotel. The building surrounds a central parking lot, which was quite full during our visit. It has a pool with a jacuzzi, but lacks the sorts of amenities on offer at bigger, more swank establishments...

Hasnt changed still cheap

I stayed in azteca dec30- jan 6 2006 , many years ago i stayed here and they havnt spend a dime on rooms or any upgrades.. The cockroaches are a problem on lower level rooms, the pool areas pump is so loud you can hardly enjoy conversation although it is shut off at night. My friend said his bed was like sleeping on a rock, mine was ok. The food is very good, you have to get your ice from the kitchen only during open hours.I myself would stay again, only on upper level room. stacy minnesota
OK

I stayed here Dec 30-Jan 6. It is in a good location for an off beach hotel, close to restaurants and shops. The hotel restaurant prices were very reasonable and the food was good. The room was larger than I expected. The major problem is that the walls are paper thin, so you can hear everyone in the rooms next door and courtyard talking and walking by, and hear people coming back from the bars at all hours of the night. If I go back I will ask for a third floor room away from the pool area. The other problem was that there was...

Robbed at the Azteca Inn by Staff
from A TripAdvisor Member
Within two hours of arriving in Mazatlan, our room was entered at the Azteca Inn, a keyed entry, and we were robbed. The maids were already gone, the only other people who had the key was the front desk. We were in the pool and we noticed an employee, the pool maintenance man, was constantly walking around the bar and checking out the people in the pool. We thought nothing of it, thought it was only security. The following morning, when we checked for our money belt, it was missing. Our credit cards, passports, travelers checkes,...

from lachicha
Everything in this hotel is excellent, the girls in the reception are very helpful also the maids, I was a guest here last year and came again this year because I found all services friendly and the food always is good, I will always recommend the Azteca Inn to anyone! it is a pleasure to stay here, my second home and the staff my other family. Many thanks to everyone. Juanita Brown
There are better choices in the area
from Traveling Marco
The hotel is in the golden zone (zona dorada) and sits off from the beach. You cannot see the beach from the hotel, and have to walk down the street and through the storefront plaza to get to it. I was on the ground floor, next door to the water heater room and by the pool. As a result, the room was very noisy. There was a bit of a bug problem in the room and I later discovered that at night in the pool area, there are quite a few cockroaches running around. Only a couple actually made it into my room, though. There are a lot of silly...

Best buy for our money
from A TripAdvisor Member
We just spent 2 weeks at the Azteca Inn and we were very pleased with our unresearched Hotel. The Hotel was clean, comfortable and within walking distances of some of the best restaurants Mazatlan has to offer. We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The furnishings are a little sparse(no suitcase racks) and no vanity in the bathroom. If you want a plush hotel this one is not for you. We truly liked this hotel and found it to meet our needs very well. The Hotel restaurant was always busy at breakfast time. The food is...
