Bali in Style
I have to say that on my first visit to Bali, I could not have asked for a better experience. Villa Sarna and their amazing staff made it all possible. From the time their driver greeted me at the airport, the trip was top-notch all the way. The place is gorgeous, absolutely stunning. It's nestled within beautiful greenery and rice paddies. The flowers and the foliage make this place a tropical wonderland. The villa I stayed in was private and beautifully decorated. I would wake up every morning to a delicious breakfast then their... more
Beautiful Villa Sarna
My Villa Sarna experience did not start well when they failed to meet me at the airport as requested. The drama then continued with the airport taxi service who didn’t know the location of the Villa Sarna even though I had the address..... “It’s a very long road” I was told. A phone call to the Villa Sarna was of no help as the number on my Wotif booking was incorrect and the local phone directory had no listing for the property. Eventually with the help of a local trader the taxi found its way! Villa Sarna is located in a... more

Thank you so much for your review! We are very sorry that your trip started out less than ideal - the driver unfortunately got into a car accident along the way which caused the transportation mishap. We have corrected all of our contact phone numbers and our drivers now carry cell phones to ensure such an event would not happen again. In terms of the bathrobes, we are currently in the process of obtaining lush ones and they should be arriving shortly. We are so happy that you had a great stay with us at Villa Sarna and we can't wait to make your stay even better next time :)

Stunning & Luxurious - A Rare Find
My wife and I have just come back from our stay at Villa Sarna. We are still so relaxed and elated after our stay. Because of the helpful reviews that I have read on this site before, I feel that it is only fair to put in my two cents after my stay at this hotel. The term "getting the most bang for your buck" certainly applies to Villa Sarna. We stayed during peak season (August) and I paid significantly less than half of what some of the other hotels were charging. The grounds for Villa Sarna are breathtaking. There was so much natural... more
A beautiful place in need of TLC, and management tweaks.
This small hotel is about 20 min drive from downtown Ubud- they do have free shuttle service. The location, setting, the grounds- absolutely beautiful. The room (bungalow) we stayed in has seen better days. Bathroom, although big wasn't very functional- and in need of updates. Shower, toilet, sink, tile seemed old and worn out, stains, and constant smell of moisture. The bedding could be newer/cleaner as well. Breakfast area overlooks a valley with rice paddies and palm trees- spectacular, but only has 2 tables, small and big- so you're... more

We really appreciate the review that has been given and sincerely apologize for this less-than-perfect experience. I wanted to make it known that we at Villa Sarna handle every review with utmost concern and seriousness. Whenever a situation like this arises, we take it upon ourselves to immediately identify the problem and determine the best possible means in which to rectify the problem, using the best possible resources. We have already repaired and eradicated the moist/mold problem permanently and instilled a comprehensive maintenance plan from one of the best contractors in the business. For your breakfast, we are shocked and very sorry to hear about your experience and there must have been a misunderstanding. We have always and will always aim to satisfy our guest’s needs – whether it be with 1 egg or 10 eggs. All of our breakfasts are cooked-to-order and we accommodated special request. Although we are a new hotel, it is the way and speed at which we respond to any mishaps and always strive to improve ourselves that separates us from many establishments. If things are not right, I guarantee we will do everything possible to make it more than right. We take every hotel guest review/suggestion extremely seriously and because of everyone's input, we have added so many new complimentary amenities and services that most hotels charge for, and we will continue to do so. We are not afraid of going that extra mile, because our bottom-line is not monetarily based, but rather, it is based on the very special experiences we hope all our guests have while staying with us.

Staying in Villa Sarna with children
I just cant find a web search engine that will allow me to find the additional cost of having 2 infants additional to 2 adults stay in Villa Sarna What room is best suited to having 2 infants aged 2 and 4 They will probably end up in bed with us anyway so additional beds are not essential Id be grateful of a response from Villa Sarna management prior to my booking Ben - Australia
Amazing stay, highly recommended!
I had the most unbelievable stay at the Villa Sarna. We stayed for over a week for an incredible rate. My husband and I stayed in the Saraswati room. This room was so big and comfortable. We even had a luxurious seating area inside of the room. I have traveled the world - and the bathrooms here were some of the best I have seen. I have a tendency to overpack, so the large closets inside the bathroom were super convenient The pool was to-die-for!!! I didn't even want to leave and explore. The staff was fabulous and kept me hydrated and... more
Looks pretty, but old and WAY too far from Ubud
Don't believe the owners comments about how far Villa Sarna is from Ubud. We were told it was 5km. It's over 10km and takes bewteen 15 and 20 minutes to get into Ubud. The "location" on their website is wrong. Even the placemark they've put in Google Earth is incorrect. We weren't able to pop back to the Villa for a shower before dinner each day because it was simply too far away. Once we left for the day, we didn't return until well after dark. Luckily we hired motorbikes. Even then, the location was inconvenient. For anyone... more
Management response from Villasarna

I am very sorry to all TripAdvisor visitors who are looking at this review. It sincerely hurts me to know that any of our guests did not enjoy the property that is so very close to my heart. We strive to make Villa Sarna a magical "home away from home" experience for everyone and anything less than that I consider a failure on our part. I wanted to reply to this review immediately and try to explain as best I can, as I owe it to the visitors of this site and potential guests to know specifics. I know I cannot change the past although I really wish I could, but I want to make sure this never happens again in the future. - We are approximately a fifteen minute drive from the Ubud city center, depending on traffic. For this reason and for the convenience of our guests, we offer free shuttle service all-day, on demand to any destination of your choice in Ubud. I have been told by guests that they view our location as a big positive and an actual determining factor in choosing our Villa, as it is extremely private and serene; away from the hustle and bustle and commerciality of Ubud. Yet, it is still relatively close for those who want to go to the Ubud center. The surrounding area has been untouched and retains the same charm and feel, as it did in the early 1900's when my grandfather first decided to settle in Bali. I have personally been told by the local Ubud residents, including the wife of famed Bali painter Antonio Blanco, how much they loved the location of our villa. They said that in and around Ubud city center, it has become too commercialized and it is very difficult to experience the authentic sounds of nature and match the ambiance and serenity of yesteryear. That is what initially made me fall in love with the property. I am sorry if the Google Maps pointer is off, and I will look into this and try to correct it right away. - The property is not old and was built only seven years ago, and the builder and architect intentionally created the villas to mimic the way looked years ago in order to retain the authentic, old-world Balinese charm. In early 2008, we renovated and updated the entire property. The official opening of Villa Sarna was October 2008. - At the request of guests, there are refrigerators in all guest rooms. - With regard to the toilet maintenance issue, it has already been taken care of back in late June. Once we discovered the problem, we immediately stopped taking reservations from June 22nd through July 5th of this year. We had plumbers fix and/or replace toilets in all villas and made sure that the cesspool was completely cleared out to rule out any possible or additional causes. I can assure all potential guests that this problem has been resolved. The drain problem has also been cleared and taken care of as well. I thank all TripAdvisor visitors for taking the time to read this response and I hope that Villa Sarna will be the choice of your travels in Bali. I would like everyone to know that I am always here to answer questions/concerns personally and to try to make your potential stay with us an unforgettable experience. Best, Suveer Sarna Owner of Villa Sarna

A Hidden Gem !
I wasn't off to a good start as I had great difficulty in finding the resort. The hotel address - Banjar Tangkup, Desa Kedisa, Ubud-Gianyar was of no help at all as no one in Ubud and surrounding areas knew the place or resort. I had to call the hotel three times, to ask for directions. Although the staff were very helpful, they have to understand that they are 1) giving directions to a tourist who does not know the local area / landmarks and 2) the tourist has difficulty understanding their local "accent". Suggestion : The hotel should have... more
Beautiful hotel, amazing vacation!!
I had the most amazing stay ever - it was a much needed break from work and the real world, and Ubud and Villa Sarna were unreal! The hotel staff was so sweet and made the best banna pancakes and omlettes for breakfast everymorning, and were very helpful whenever I needed anything from towels to ironing. The hotel is perched over a gorgeous lush valley and is straight out of a dream. Our room was huge with amazing views. They have Balinese statues and fountains everywhere and the pool was amazing. The hotel staff were great about... more
Wow!
From the moment we stepped foot on the property we were blown away at the stunning views, amazing accommodations and wonderful staff! Our villa was beautifully furnished with an incredible view of the rice patties and forests. I also have to mention how good the food was! I am a vegetarian and they were so accommodating! Overall, the place was spectacular! I feel like I have a second home now in Bali!
