Pera Tulip Hotel

I was in Istanbul the past week with my family, we found this hotel through trip advisor, and booked it through our travel agent. We found the room excellent though the view could have been better, the customer service was exellent, very friendly staff, and ever helping. The location of the hotel is perfect, with walking distance to a lot of eating joints on Istaklal Cadesia, and a grocery close by (we needed to purchase things for our infant). I have just returned from a business trip in Istanbul and stayed at the Pera Tulip Hotel. The hotel is only a few months old and therefore it is modern, well designed and well equipped for either the business traveler or the vacationer. The place was spotlessly clean and the breakfast very adequate. There was a stunning spa (although I did not have time to use it!) and internet access (which I did!). I stayed at the Pera Tulip for 8 days and really enjoyed it. The location is perfect - just on the edge of Istiklal Cadessi, two minutes from the vibrant Asmalimescit in the "new" city. The sights of the old city are a 15 minute taxi ride away, or you can even walk it, past the Galata tower, down to the river and across the Galata bridge - just follow the tramline and in about an hour you are in the middle of Sultanahmet. I am disappointed to have to write this review. However, since i often rely on trip advisor to select my hotels, I figured potential visitors to the pera tulip should know what to expect. While the hotel is new and modern and well located, the customer service was some of the worst of I have ever received. Our first night in Istanbul (and only one of two), the electricity in our room went out. It took 20 minutes for them to fix it, then it went out again 10 minutes later. After my holiday in Indonesia I wanted to go to the Mediterranean site and visit Istanbul. I heard a lot about this city from my friends who have been there, after a brief search in the internet I found this hotel in Pera called Pera Tulip.The staff was nice and friendly and the food was delicious. They even remembered my birthday and send me a bottle of Wine and fruit basket. A friendly, efficient staff throughout THE PERA TULIP Hotel..Thank You for making my family's stay so enjoyable. They couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. I have been to Istanbul many times over the past 10 years. I have stayed often at the sister hotel, Pera Rose. The Pera Tulip was a great experience. This is the neighborhood to stay in when visiting Istanbul. The cafes, shops and the feel of the city are at your doorstep. The Old City is only 10 minutes away, but staying in the Pera neighborhood is perfect. The Pera neighborhood has the feel of people living there and their lives. Having visited Istanbul on numerous occasions, we wanted to be within easy reach of Istiklal Caddesi rather than stuck in Sultanahmet, so the location was spot on. Considering the hotel has only been open for a couple of months, our stay was relatively seamless - good service (we missed breakfast one day by 5/10 minutes, phoned down and they saved us some). I spent a lovely weekend in Istanbul staying at the Pera Tulip hotel. It is very modern, feels like that it has just been updated. The room was small but clean and very modern. Breakfast was great. The hotel is very near Istaklal street with all the shops, cafes and restaurants. Most of the things to see are in the old town, a taxi ride away (20 minutes). If you plan to spend most of your time sightseeing and looking at museums, maybe it is best to stay in the old town. I like the European feel of the new part. It was a great weekend... more
