The Dewa Koh Chang

After 3 nights in Bangkok we travelled to Koh Chang for 8 nights of rest and relaxation and found it. After landing at Trat we took the airport transport to the resort which included the ferry crossing costing 1200 baht return for 2 people. Took a bit longer than hotel's own transfer because the mini bus made drops at other properties along the way - so we had a chance to see the competition. A friend in Bangkok is a travel agent, who recommended this hotel. It fitted the spec we usually look for in a hotel. Being away from any busy tourist hotspots. Located some 25 minutes from the ferry port. I would recomend if arriving by flight into Trat, to use the arrival transfer service provided at the airport. Your allocated a small 10 seater luxury bus and taken direct to the hotel including keeping the same bus on the ferry ride. Just returned from Dewa. Many usefull pieces of information have already been written here by previous visitors, i'll say my impressions in brief. It's really chic modern designer hotel. Overall impression - it's excellent in every detail - from check-in flowers to the umbrellas in the room. The staff is smily and helpful. Firstly, I must say that Koh Chang is among the secret gems of all the Thai islands. As it has not yet become a tourist haven (although that will change in a couple of years), the island has a personal and local feel while offering great hotels and excellent restaurants at relatively low prices. We were actually first booked in to the Tropicana but then found a great deal for the Dewa on a website and cancelled and re-booked. So glad we did! Loved everything about the Dewa, the design, the pool, the beach terrace, the Deluxe room, the bathroom... only complaint really is that the bed was rock hard! Choosing a hotel on Koh Chang is a chore. First there's the choice of what beach to pick, then what hotel, whether there's any restaurants nearby that sell your favourite schnitzel, what about bars, beach towel shops etc etc etc I chose to stay at the Dewa purely because it looked nice on the website. just came back from the dewa koh chang.......booked through the hotel website. this is my third time at koh chang but with my wife for the first time to celebrate our two year anniverssary. As we stayed there during the soft opening, a lot of my negative comments will be tempered. At the rates they quote at present, it IS good value for money. However, when the rates increase, you might have to think twice. Booking through hotel site - no problems Reception - physically impressive. Staff efficient and friendly. We encountered a problem after check out. When we phoned them about their mistake, they immediately rectified it. Great resort, if modern design is your think then you will certainly feel at home here. We stayed in one of the rooms on the ground floor. Staff could possibly brush up on there in english, but it's well compensated by the friendly aproach. Plenty of shops and restaurants availale in walking distance and you can always take a pick-up to reach the more remote locations Would certainly recommend this to anyone!
