We have just come back from the sultan gardens were the tent caught fire where we were eating, all hell broke loose as people tried to escape, all 4 of us as a family did escape with our lives.
We were very distraught but things at the resort just carried on regardless, I was wondering if there was any one out there who was in the tent on the morning of the 12 August who suffered the same experience.
I now know why they call sharm el sheikh sharm el [--] we had the trots for 9 days and speny £40.00 on pills from the chemist which did not work.

My husband and I had a great holiday here (we are aged 28). We have written to the hotel to thank them. The nicest thing about this hotel was the staff, they were always there to help with a smile on their face, nothing was too much trouble and they didnt expect tips but were genuinly pleased to receive them.
We did notice a trend of the guests not thanking the staff for the things they did. Because we have a habit of always saying thank you and taking the time to talk to the staff I feel that we had a better raport and thus received even better service (its the simple things that make the difference!).
The food was better than we expected or had experienced in other hotels. The lager tasted good and was cold (a must for the Brits). The All Inclusive drinks menu was adequate and the bar team were always willing to make things to order.
The facilites were great with 4 pools each having a bar, a rock climbing wall, tennis courts, private beach with bar, entertainment etc.
The evening entertainment was better than we have experienced in other hotels, although you do have to allow for the cultural differences and the fact that they are accommodating such a diverse audience.
The majority of the guests were Russians, some Polish or Czech, Italian and Brits. All seemed to interact well together.
If you want a sunbed with shade then you have to get it before 08.00 and then go for breakfast otherwise you are left with the ones in the scorching sun!
Naa'ma bay was just like Blackpool and not to our liking - we wouldnt particularly reccomend going there. If you do, then the transport at 16.00 brings you home at 18.00 which is plenty of time!
You MUST do snorkling whilst you are here - it is fantastic. Im quite a nervous swimmer but once you have navigated the coral and gone over the coral edge, you will see some fantastic sights. It is worth taking a water-proof camera and buying some of those rubber shoes (in the hotel shop) so that you can walk over the causeway as it can be quite slippy. Alternatively you can walk on the floating jetty and jump in to the deep water.
The fish market restaurant was quiet but worth trying. The menu isnt extensive but if you like fresh seafood then it is good.
All in all, the hotel was great and the staff and mangement teams obviously take pride in what they do.
We would return or happily reccoment it to others.

Great 11 night break. Suite very good value, spacious, freshly decorated and clean every day. Resort very clean and although some works where being carried out they where not a problem. Very nice helpful people. Food typical AI, however always something you could eat with fair choices. Pool great and lovely beach. Snorkeling fantastic. If any one could pick complaints with this resort they will complain about anything. A good 4*

I agree totally with the previous comments, spot on! We found the steps, 131 to the beach from our room, very hard, and had to resort to the shuttle bus in the end. The staff at the hotel were fantastic, hotel very clean. Food average though, Russians noisy and plentiful! We would return, mainly due to the staff, but the food during the day was poor, especially at the beach and pool, having compared to other "all inclusives." Just to get a drink at the beach we had to climb even more steps, occasionally, staff would offer to get drinks for us, always with a lovely smile. All in all a great hotel, staff couldn't do enough, fab, clean rooms.

me and my husband came here in march the weather was fab!! can't fault the hotel. basil the manager couldn't do enough we had dressing gowns and a kettle in our room there were plenty of pools, one heated our hotel room was right opposite the snack bar which was right in the middle of every thing so we never had to walk very far which was brilliant. the food from the hotel was very good the waiters were always smiling which was great to see and they was very helpful. the beach was only a 5min walk you were given a towel card so that you never had to take a towel to the beach or pool with you as they was provided. wouldn't recommend it to the disabled as there are quite steep steps to the beach. definitively recommend the snorkeling. speak to Mohammad on the beach if you would like to do any trips. recommend the trip to tiran island you see dolphins, shipwreck, you get to go snorkeling loads of fish to be seen. crystal clear waters. the quad bikes we hired for a trip though the deserts was wicked. coming back again in September with our 3 teenagers can't wait. p.s. they do like english pounds.

You will have a great holiday if you come here, however comparing it to an all inclusive in Cyprus 2005 Tsokkos gardens, Cyprus fairs better. We paid £2528.00 for 2 rooms for 1 week all inclusive at this resort and I would say that really we had full board with a limited choice of free drinks. Cocktails and fruit juice have to be paid for.
There was a limited choice of snacks available outside of the main restaurant times ie small chicken wings and chips most days and these are served in polystyrene trays which you queue for. Don't expect a quiet meal in the restaurant unless you eat at the latest times, as this hotel caters for 800 rooms and therefore meal times can get quite noisy. Also no food available anywhere from 5.00 till 7.00. There is room service but you pay for it obviously. Also there is an excellent Italian restaurant but this must be booked in advance and you can only use it twice. Be prepared to be adventurous with the food Brits are well out numbered by Russians and all have to be catered for. If you want British food why go to Egypt?
The entertainment for adults mostly consisted of a guitarist singing the same songs each evening oh sorry there was a magic show and bingo which we missed as we didn't fancy hearing the numbers called in Russian Italian and English, how long have you got!
Also comparing to Cyprus the staff in the bars serving the pools here were quick enough collecting the plastic tumblers but didn't really want to take drinks orders probably as there weren't enough staff on. If you went to the bar they would bring your drinks over when they had enough orders to warrant this but this then left the bar empty. However in the evenings pool no 1 the bar staff were excellent!
Oh yes and as usual with us Brits and the very many Russians you have to get up at 7.00am for your sun beds!
Right that said the grounds were fabulous the 4 pools 2 heated 2 very cold were spacious and pool and beach towells are supplied beware if you don't return them you will be charged £7.50 per towell.
Your room is cleaned every day and I mean thoroughly cleaned, beds moved etc. Nothing is is too much trouble the staff love kids and are polite friendly and respectful at all times. the whole resort is spotless.
Take sun cream and sanitary products with you as these cost a fortune in the resort's pharmacy ie delph suncream £10.00 2 boxes of tampax 10 in a box £15.00. They seem happy to advertise Viagra as being cheap though!
This resort is on a terrace so if you have a sea view you will be at the lower part and will have to walk up steps to the main areas. There is shuttle bus though that runs every 20 mins and you can get around the whole resort on this.
There is a resort being built next door but we didn't hear any noise from this at all. You are near the airport and will hear planes overhead. You are also a 10 min taxi ride £4.00 each way from the main Naaham Bay area so not in the thick of things. I know It may sound like I'm putting this resort down but what I have said was true in my experience and really if this is warts and all well it wasn't that bad. Would I go back yes one day but before I go back to the same I want to go to other places first. No doubt the manager of the resort will offer his coments but this is my honest opinion.
Oh yes one person you won't see is your XL holiday rep!

First class hotel. Staff were brilliant, surely the happiest people i have seen for a while.
The manager Basil was very hands on! a well oiled machine. Our best ever holiday! The food was excellent if different to the norm. Accomodation was superb.

Overall we had a very good week's holiday. The Resort is still being upgraded and our mini-suite was very comfortable and large though a bit dated. The room cleaning was good and our cleaner very cheerful and helpful. Our room was quiet apart from the 5.30 am calling from the mosque - apparently some nearer the reception were a bit noisy.
The Pools are very good, very clean with the two heated ones being really welcome. Plenty of good, comfortable sunbeds and no need to get up early to save one although the Hotel was full. The staff round the pool, as were all the staff, were very cheerful and pleasant. We didn't find the staff expected tips and seemed genuinely pleased when they got one.
The food was fine - nothing to write home about but it was fresh, plentiful and well-presented if a bit uninteresting. The Italian Restaurant was fine but again a bit limited. We ate one night in the Fish Restaurant - there's a supplement to pay so only 6 people in and apparently that's typical.
Plenty of Russians and Italians staying - all very pleasant though few spoke any English - then I don't speak Russian either!
The management of the hotel were about all the time and very keen to chat - the famous Basel was on holiday but other Directors were around and very keen to ensure we had an enjoyable time. We had some very interesting discussions with them.
The Sultan Palace is a remarkably good value offer for an out of season break - I think a week is probably enough though - there's not much to do unless you go on very long day trips.

Never been to Egypt before so didn't know what to expect. Thought this hotel was fab. The pool areas were so clean and tidy. Staff were great, so friendly and nothing too much trouble for them. Will say that I thought the food could be better. Not enough selection and hardly any fresh fruit. Too much in the way of sweet pastries. There are certain areas that can be improved in renovation but assume it's an ongoing job as only recently been taken over from The Holiday Inn. I was surprised that the hotel accepts English pounds & American dollars in travellers cheques (not sterling) as means of payment for trips/bills etc. This is in addition to the Egyptian pound. This was a lovely hotel with all the amenities you'd expect from a 5 *. Rather breezy in January. Warm during the day but take warmer clothes for the evening. Forget sitting out at night. It's very cold. Had to use the heating back at the room. Not much going on at the hotel in the evening so take a pack of cards. Something to do whilst keeping out of the way of the Russians letting it rip on the dance floor! Just a few points that might help the next visitors to this hotel. All in all you should have a great time!!

Anybody who complains about this place is either never pleased or is a "serial complainer".
My wife and I just needed a totally relaxing week and that's exactly what we got.
We found that every member of staff we encountered were more than polite and were quite happy to do pretty much anything for you as long as you were polite in return. A cynic would say that's because they were expecting a tip. Not so. They would pass the time of day with you and some were genuinely curious as to how we go about life in the UK.
The rooms were very spacious, well furnished and were cleaned every day. The air con and safes are free which made a pleasant change and there is a hair dryer provided for all you ladies reading this. Top tip!!! Don't go putting those big bulky beach towels in your luggage. You don't need them because they are provided for you, and you can change them every day if you wish.
Anybody who has been on a few all inclusives will know that the food can be of quite a low standard and become a bit same old same old. Not so with this place. I am quite a fussy eater and found the food to be of superb quality with a very wide selection.
There are four different swimming pools and five or six bars so take your pick.
For all those out there who like to find fault, they would probably complain about the Russians and Ukrainians. Their manners both at the dining table and away from it are atrocious. Personally I found it both fascinating and amusing to watch them.
Another Top Tip for all you footie fans. You can catch all the Sky games on channels 29 and 30, but also check the foreign channels for other Premier League games.

I can imagine 10 years ago this was a lovely place, but sadly not now.
The whole place is run down and tired the rooms have got loose cupboard doors, stained holed mattresses broken soap dispensers.
The grounds are an accident waiting to happen loose or missing paving everywhere, the pools are dirty I found a nail in the main pool that had been there that long it had rusted itself to the floor the grills around the pool have got bits missing, a child could twist or break a leg very easily.
The hygiene standards are appalling the bar staff clean the glasses by rinsing them under a cold tap, no washing up liquid and not dried. 75% of my glasses had lip marks or dirt around the top, the male toilets are not cleaned regularly soiled urinals and toilet basins all day every day.
Yes the manager is a nice guy but unfortunately that doesn’t make up for the run down, dirty and poorly maintained hotel he owns. 5 star no way. I would rate this 3 star tops.
I have been to Egypt many times and have booked again to go in July but wouldn’t recommend the Sultan Gardens.
Last but not least the entertainment is like watching a primary school pantomime. I think this is probably intended so you don’t hang around and drink the decent entertainment starts a lot later, when you have to pay for your drinks £3 for a bottle of lager. My advice, spend another couple of hundred pounds and stay at a real 5 star hotel.

What a fantastic hotel from start to finish, the staff treated you as if you you were family.
Accommodation: Junior Suite spacious and clean for a family of four 10/10
Restaurant: Fantastic choice of foods at every meal time, kids miss the pancakes 10/10
Bars: The most helpful and friendliest guys I've ever met 10/10
Reception: Helpful and friendly nothing is too much trouble 10/10
Animation team: Worked hard to entertain people but would say this was suitable for children not adults 8/10
Lounge area/reception: Nice place to sit and people watch, especially the Russian women in their leather mini's and stiletto heals (very funny).
Pool/towel boys: Tip these guys when you arrive and they will make sure you have a sun bed waiting every day 10/10
Only down side I would say was there wasn't much going on in the evening and after two weeks the man on the keyboard got a bit repetitive, but he tries his best.
Fantastic place to go at Christmas as the weather is lovely and the hotel makes a real effort to make it as traditional as possible. We will be going back again this year, so that says it all. I hope this review helps anyone thinking of going to Sharm.

We spent 10 nights at the Sultan Gardens with our 3 children aged 6 and under and we all had a fabulous time. The accomodation was really spacious and was cleaned and tidied daily.
We ate most main meals at the Linah Restaurant and the Casa Mia which provided plenty of variety of food and managed to accommodate our vegetarian diet without a problem whilst the Beach Bars were perfectly adequate for a midday snack each lunchtime.
The staff across the resort were so friendly, helpful and courteous at all times that they made our stay even more relaxing and enjoyable.
My children tried out the climbing, mini golf and snorkeling and absolutely loved it. The kids pool area is great for little ones and the water slide was a firm favourite!
We will definitely be returning as soon as we can!

This holiday was amazing, the food was fantastic, there was alot of entertainment and was very hot at night (was July summer time).
When we booked the holiday and the hotel was 5*. I thought it wouldn’t be really good because the area is poor but was I wrong; yes, I was I’ve been to America twice and stayed in a 5* hotel there but Sultan Gardens was much better.
We are hoping to go to Sultan Gardens again because the staff are very helpful and kind.

my husband and i with our 3 children then aged 6, 9 and 11years had a fantastic time, we had been 2 years previous and stayed at another hotel bed and breakfast, but spent alot so we went all inclusive this time and was well worth it especially for kids! very nice hotel and really friendly staff, the russians are a pain, as they are so rude and i was not impressed with the women going almost naked in the kids pool, especially when there are so may to choose from there! the animation team were very friendly, the bar staff are really good it was 38 degees and they are still waiting on you, worth tipping them!i had got ill and the doctor at the hotel was really good, it was good to have him on the premises! we would definatley go to this hotel again, as the staff really make you welcome and it has everything there!
