Edgbaston Palace Hotel

I have not stayed at this hotel but attended a close friend's wedding reception recently. I would have to say that this hotel should never be allowed to hold a wedding reception ever again - well unless its only for about 10 guests. Ramshackle, only 2 star. They're renovating, and we had a renovated room in the main hotel, while our friends were put in the hotel next door (same owners). We checked in before vfestival, and they said the room might not have been cleaned. So we dumped our bags and although the room was nice and 'made up' with towels, soap, etc, we told them that the room did indeed need cleaning. We stayed at the Edgbaston Palace Hotel in the beginning of August and had a great time despite the miserable weather. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and catered to our every need, from the moment we checked-in to the moment we checked-out! We stayed in one of the newly renovated rooms, with a big bay window and a spacious walk-in wetroom bathroom. Absolutely huge room.Clean and above standard decor. Breakfast was lovely too. Recommend to everyone.

We were looking for somewhere to stay in Birmingham for one night only. As we were going clubbing and wouldnt be using the room that much we didnt want to spend much on the room. We decided on a triple room which was £69. The hotel looks like it was once a really nice building but has become a bit run down, although there is a lovely little courtyard with a restaurant that looks out onto it. Rooms were clean but basic and the bathroom really needed replacing, as the shower was REALLY difficult to use....it was spraying all over... more

This hotel is great value for money; there were 13 of us that stayed so the quad rooms were a great find. They are a really good size and very comfortable with TV and one with a seating area. I only saw one of the double rooms which was cosy but it was clean and had all the facilities needed in a room, so can not complain - how much space do you need? This was a fantastic hotel, around 13 of us stayed here and found the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful. The family rooms we had were lovely, bright and great value for money. Some of the double and twin rooms we had were a little dark and dingy, but were clean and perfectly acceptable. It's in a great location not far from the numerous pubs, restaurants and clubs and the hotel bar is 24 hour providing a great place to extend the nights festivities. I would defintely recommend this hotel, excellent value for money!

My partner and I stayed at this hotel on the 25th April 2007. The hotel was fully booked this day. We were greated by a very pleasant young man on reception. After checking in, we were shown to our rooms which we were over joyed with. We had a lovely view of the court yard and gardens. Having had a few drinks at the bar, we decided to eat in the restaurant. The standard of the food was very impressive. I would definately come back to this hotel and will be recommending it to all my friends and family should they ever visit... more

stayed at this hotel for one night only, we booked two rooms one for ourselves and one for my mum, firstly the good part, my mum stayed in what appeared to be a newly built wing, her room was small, but clean and adequate for her needs. Now for the down side, we were firstly allocated a room in the main building, it was very spacious with a huge bed, and a seating area, the bathroom appeared to look ok, but I didn't set foot in it as it smelt terrible, very damp, it really put me off.
