Very comfortable
The hotel was very comfortable, made especially so by the warm welcome at reception. The room was clean with a fantastic view. Our bathroom was clearly purpose built to accomodate the disabled. Although we didnt need such a facility it's useful to know that it's available. Some parts of the hotel looked in need of a little decorating but in general everything seemed well maintained. Dinner was very reasonable and well cooked and presented. The service was efficient and friendly. The hotel is a couple of minutes walk... more
Okay Stay
I would agree with the other reviewers , Bailbrook looks stunning but rooms are at the back of the grand house in a 1970's style building. So if you are expecting gradeur then you will be disappointed. The rooms are as basic as a holiday inn or a premier inn. The room cost the same as the holiday inn so I was quite happy with my stay. However I wouldn't go there for a romantic weekend or a special occasion as it really does feel budget in style.
Disappointing
Booked a weekend stay here. When you first drive up, you think it is a wonderful old country house. However, the bedrooms are in a separate annexe. I don't mind a modern annexe room on an old hotel. However, this was a cross between student accommodation and a cheap conference venue. (I have since found out that a friend of mine books it for training courses!). The room was OK - clean and spacious. But the bed was way too soft - felt like the springs had gone - and the corridors were exceptionally noisy (doors banging from 7am on Sat... more
Beware the rooms can get hot
I recently stayed at this hotel with my boyfriend and his mother on a Saturday night, as part of a weekend stay in Bath. The hotel grounds and reception building are beautiful (albeit a 45 minute walk from the centre of town) but the hotel bedrooms are in a separate annexe to the side, which are in an ugly and unrenovated 60's/70's style building. It is a shame as they could renovate this building to bring it to a better standard, and to be more visually in keeping with the rest of the hotel, but they have not. The main... more
romantic break
Beautiful setting in Bath, The food was highly commendable, with the barbecue and pimms a pleasant change to burgers, sausage and wine. Didn't have chance to walk all of the grounds, but what we saw was very well kept. The room and bathroom were spatious and spotlessly clean, but unfortunately the bed was the most uncomfortable wei have ever slept in. it looked like a king-sized bed, but was actually 2 singles pushed together. there were dips in the beds, and moved with the slightest movement. The service was excellent throughout... more
Avoid like the plague
This is quite possibly one of the worst hotels my boyfriend and I have ever stayed in. From the outside, the hotel looks beautiful. It is set in peaceful acres of beautiful greenland, with lovely mature trees. The main building itself is impressive. BUT don't be fooled. The rooms that you will stay in are in an annexe, albeit a huge one that resembles something like student halls. On first site the inside of the room seemed pleasant enough. The room was large, with soft white furnishings and a TV and tea and coffee and biscuits... more
Management response from bbridgeman

I would like to thank you for taking the time to inform us of your experience, as with out regular customer feedback we would not be able to continue to improve the service and facilities we offer, something we strive for at all times. I know through direct communication we have since fully compensated you for such an unfortunate experience, and fully investigated the occurence. Many thanks Ben Bridgeman

Ideal for your average conference
I had a 2 night bed, breakfast, dinner stay for a conference. The staff are friendly and efficient. The food was a good standard, with good selection. The rooms are in a block adjacent to the Old Georgian House. It did remind me of my halls of residence days. The room was dated, but clean and spacious. The kingsiz bed was to singles pushed together. Everything was fit for purpose, and was comfortable without any luxury. Free wireless broadband was great. The hotel is ideal for conferences, where luxury is not a prerequisite. For what... more
Great Stay at Bailbrook House
I stayed at Bailbrook house for a weekend away in June 08. After reading some very bad reviews I was more than pleasantly surprised on arrival. The hotel is in a great location - 5 mins in a cab into town or a 40 min scenic walk along the canal. The rooms are not in the main building but in a newer building next door and are basic but spacious and very clean. The staff were excellent and could not be faulted in any way! We opted for breakfast in bed both mornings for a mere £2.50 extra charge. Breakfast was lovely!<br... more
great hotel
we are a couple in our 30's and found this hotel great value, the room was big comfortable and clean, a nice gym, nice bar area and great breakfasts, ok so the rooms are in a seperate building but who cares if they are nice, oh and the staff are brilliant as well!!
Ask Before You Book!
Seeing the website photos of a large Georgian mansion and wishing to stay somewhere with 'character' the Bailbrook Hotel looked great. A phonecall later and I was booked into a kingsize room. Upon arrival, however, I (and my three other staying guests) were very disappointed. I was told it was in walking distance of Bath town centre - - it is not; and the walk is along a very busy road and crossing a duel carriageway it was not particularly safe (for children) or pleasant. The reception of the hotel looked fantastic, but following booking... more
