Good hotel due to leisure facilities
I stay in Lancaster a lot due to business and like to try different places - I get very bored. This hotel I was not looking forward to. It looks like classic a classic 60s concrete hotel but in actual fact it's better than it looks. The rooms are functional, very clean, modern and large. Nothing too exciting but better than I imagined. The leisure suite, is however, excellent. Superb pool, gym and sauna. It looks brand new. The down sides are the restaurant (very standard), general feel of the lobby area and location (you'll end up spending... more
Better than the local B&B's
Firstly £65 per night for a twin room with a handsome breakfast is a great deal and will certainly contribute to the closure of many of the very dull and boring and old fashioned B&B's in Morecambe. Yes we could have got a cheaper deal at a B&B in Morecambe but not with, a pool, air conditioning, Sky TV in our room, comfy beds and very good breakfast scene..........that did not last from 7.14am until 8am as one B&B in Morecambe quoted us. (7am until 11am actually). Lancaster has some great resturants and the whole area north of... more
Excellent Value for Money
We stayed a couple of nights over the half term break, lots of other families on the Saturday night though much less busy on Sunday. We paid £55 per room per night including breakfast. The staff were friendly and breakfast was good. The swimming pool was fine. Given the money we paid it was very good value.
Reasonable Accomodation
Stayed here on a Friday evening in early January on our way further North. We found it to be very good value for the rate we paid - £65/bed & breakfast for 2 adults and 1 child. The hotel didn't appear to be that busy and there were no problems checking in or out. All the staff that we met were polite and helpful. The decor in both the public areas and the room we stayed in was a bit worn in places, but not overly so. Our room was spotlessly clean which was the main thing. We stayed in a room at the back of the hotel... more
Tired but Friendly - Needs Updating
The staff at this hotel were very friendly but it suffers from the curse of British provincial hotels - understaffed and underinvested. When I checked in late at 11pm one chap was manning reception and the bar and the same chap had slept and reported back for duty by 8am next day - poor guy! The hotel is dated unlike some Holiday Inns it hasn't recently been given an Ikea style makeover so it is rather drab. My room was very basic despite being a premium Priority Club member. It was a cold November night and the heating didn't... more
OK as a stopover
My husband & I stayed here on a Friday night recently on our way up to Scotland. Good location right off the M6 & thankfully a friendly check in after a 5 1/2 hour drive & traffic jams! After reading a previous review requested a room at the back of the hotel but our room was right by the extraction system above the kitchens, if not for one night only would've asked to move. Nice bar area & varied bar menu (average hotel prices), they even let us take our bar meals to the room so hubby could watch the golf. Bar stays open late & the... more
Average hotel
Stayed at this hotel on my way to the Lake District. Conveniently located just off the M6. I would agree with the last reviewer that a back room away from the traffic is recommended. The service in the bar and dining room was friendly but slow at times. Room service was good for breakfast. The room was an executive room which was comfortable and well maintained. This is an OK place to stay without being anything more than average.
Okay I suppose
Stayed here for 1 night as stop over for a trip up North. We did get a good deal £58 per night B&B. The bed was quite comfortable but oh the traffic outside. The hotel is situated on a very busy main road which leads to the M6. We couldn't open the windows at all and eventually through exhaustion nodded off about 4.00 a.m. The amount of traffic was unbelieve HGVs etc trundling past at 1.00 and 2.00 in the morning. If you are staying at this hotel request a room at the back, you will get a decent night's sleep I hope.<br... more
dissapointing experience!
A dissapointing experience. I stayed here for a business trip and was not impressed. My room hadn't been cleaned and I found a man's socks and underwear in one of the drawers!!!!! My TV didn't work so Reception eventually arranged for it to be changed. The furniture in the room was worn and old. I've stayed in a few Holiday Inns and this was the worst so far. However staff were helpful and there's a fantastic leisure club which is open until late. The hotel is in a convenient location, just off the motorway. Restaurant was fine as was bar... more
