Great Breakfast!
This is the second time for me at this hotel and it's just great - staff very friendly - breakfast is unbelievable yum yum! Stay here you can't go wrong!
Excellent Hotel in good location
We had a completely trouble free 2 night stay here, had no problems whatsoever, clean rooms and bedding, quiet location, excellent breakfasts and very helpfull pleasant staff. My wife swears by reading reviews on anywhere we're of checking into, this hotel is of a very high standard and we'll not hesitate in using it in the future.
Pleasant hotel, clean and reliable.
I've had a lot of luck with Holiday Inn hotels and this one was no different. We were only there for one night but it was handled well and is wel llocated in the city. We didn't eat there so cannot comment on the restaurant. I would be happy to stay there again though.
excellent for stopover
We stayed at this hotel as a stopover on our way to and return from france. We found staff to be friendly and attentive. The lounge bar area is very comfortable and the pool looked inviting. We had a lovely view of the ferries coming in and out of harbour from our fifth floor room. The room was clean and comfortable. The english breakfast was hot and tasted lovely. The ferry port was easy to find from the hotel. I would recommend this hotel for anyone travelling abroad from the ferry terminal.
Great breakfast for Europeans
We were there with four people in two rooms. We had business over day, so were very pleased with the quietness of the hotel. The lobby was a pleasant place to sit and have a drink before bedtime. The beds are harder then usually in hotels, which was OK. The breakfast buffet we enjoyed really much. Cooked breakfast for those who like that, but for us, continentals, the choice of bread, rolls, scones, fruitjuices and cereals was almost overwhelming. I would recommend this hotel for business travellers, who also can use the lobby as a... more
A comfortable and well located hotel
We had an enjoyable stay here in May 2005. The six storey hotel is well located close to the front at Southsea and Southsea Common. It’s about a 5 minute walk to the sea front. Our double bedroom was a good size with two armchairs, desk and trouser press. The bed was large, firm and supportive. Extra pillows were available in the wardrobe. The bathroom was bright and clean with shampoo bottles etc, a smallish bath with a separate shower over and heated towel rail. There was a computer modem point in the bedroom but no broadband... more
Very good hotel
It is about a 15 minute walk to the city centre but the view is great from the hotel. You can see the sea front and if you are lucky you could catch the fair which takes place across the road. The reception area was good and so was the restaurant. Very friendly staff. I was only dissapointed when I picked up a newspaper to read there were no signs stating that there was a charge for it and I got charged 3 times the actual rate of a newspaper. At the end of it all I am very happy with my stay there. The double room I had was... more
We like the Holiday Inn Portsmouth
Porpose built hotel block about 6 storeys high. Some rooms have nice views of the Solent. Rooms in good condition with neutral decor and small but purposeful bathrooms in white. Open plan lobby and bar....sufficient seating and more netrual furnishings. Good health club with decent sized pool and good changing facilities. Great location - 5 mins walk to the beach, 10mins walk to the shops and 5 mins stroll to the harbour-y Old Portsmouth. We had a room set for 4 - 2 adults and 2 kids. The kiddie beds were in good... more
great veiws
This hotel has great veiws over the solent. It is in a good location overlooking park land and in walking distance of the historic ships. It has everything you expect from a modern chain hotel, clean, neutral decor. The staff were friendly and very helpful , restaurant was very good and the breakfast buffet excellent. Our room - an executive was smaller than expected and the stairwells and lifts seemed to be in need of improvement, but there was some work being done while we were there. Pool was lovely. Good for sightseeing, shopping or... more
