Bewley's Hotel Leeds

Same old story…..this hotel has gone from a new, buzzy, innovative place to stay into a tired, uninspired run of the mill business stopover. The staff on the restaurant reception were incredibly offhand when I stayed last – took at least three minutes to even get an acknowledgement of my existence from two people intent on doing anything but dealing with customers. Badged as a 3 star hotel this much better than some 4 stars I have stayed in for a lot more money. Modern, clean and expectional value. The canteen style breakfast is unusual but perfectly acceptable. An absolute gem.

A tastefully decorated reception, well-appointed comfortable rooms, a cosy bar, a reasonably priced restaurant with good quality food, friendly staff, I really can’t find fault with Bewleys. True, it might not be as centrally located as some hotels in Leeds but it’s only really a ten minute walk at the most into town and not at all in a dodgy location (as some of the reviews have indicated). Sometimes use this hotel despite the slightly awkward location, the free broadband and good food make up for this.

I stayed one night on business midweek. It is a modern clean hotel convenient to the motorway but with a few problems: - No hot water available in some rooms at 7.30 am! Breakfast canteen like with dreadful coffee out of a machine Long queues at reception Car park too small for the number of rooms Similarly too few lifts for the number of rooms and floors Otherwise okay

It's a good clean and modern hotel with some advantages such as free broadband. What lets it down is expensive breakfasts ( £7-00 pricey for say a family of 3, and carparking at £5-00 ( only £2-00 if you park across the road) It's a 15 minute walk from the city centre through some dodgy areas and past building sites. Overall for £69-00 they have to try harder if they are to compete in todays market. I would probably stay closer into town next time, the Bewley is probably a false economy. My husband and I spent a long weekend at the Bewleys Hotel this September. The hotel was very good value for money, with friendly staff, to whom nothing was too much trouble. It is very clean and very energy saving, very well presented hotel, with ample parking. We would gladly stay there again. It was a 10 min walk to the city, or a taxi fare of under £5, what more could you ask for on a night out. Overall a very impressive hotel.
