Crowne Plaza Istanbul Old City

Stayed 2 nights. Was surprised to find a hotel of a well-known chain in the city centre for a price well below $100 (breakfast excluded). Almost everything was fine – helpful staff, nice interior, furniture, accessories, etc. Check-in and check-out were quick and problem-free. Paying extra 20 euros for included breakfast makes no sense – you can get much cheaper meals from room service or just in cafes around, and tea and coffee are anyway free in your room, as well as wi-fi internet. We stayed over Valentines. Help straight away from bell boy was excellent & friendly we ended up with a King room in the roof & only a shower !! Reception quickly changed to a room with a bath & ensured house keeping but the 2 single beds together new room not over big either Breakfast a big disappointmnet , really not very enticing Woken up one night at 2 am as the air conditioning descied to go into Hurrican mode, spoke to reception they advised must be a problem with our room ! We stayed for 5 nights at the Crowne Plaza. When we arrived, it was pouring. The hotel staff was very friendly. As soon as we walked up the first steps, he came out to help us carry our luggage. Check-in was rather hassle-free, it was done in 5 minutes. They also provided us with a city map which shows all the main attractions. The room is of a decent size with very nice decorations. The lobby of the hotel looks very nice, with many steps leading to the reception area, which might have been a problem for the guests with a heavy luggage, if not for the fact that the hotel personell handles your luggage as soon as you step into the lobby. The receptionst was nice, however he asked for a credit card ending with some numbers that wasn't on any of my credit cards. Come to find out, it was Travelocity's account. Great location and nice rooms... The check in staff was helpful and offered to help plan a walking tour of the city. Sofia, the Blue Mosque and the Sultan's Palace and the Grand Bazaar are an easy walk from the front door. The lobby restaurant was just OK- much better to pop out the door and get less expensive, far more favorable meals at neighborhood restaurants. We arrived on the Thursday night for a 4 night long weekend. First impressions of the lobby and atrium areas was that this was a very new hotel the only drawback to the entrance was that there was a lot of steps to get to to check in and did not seem to have any wheelchair access and people with pushchairs and heavy luggage would find this a problem check in was quick and efficient but we had to drag the suitcases back down the stairs towards the lift.The size of the hotel room was very good with nice size room and bathroom And good... more

Recently renovated we were told. The standard of the rooms and food were excellent as should be expected. Staff are as yet not up to speed. We stayed here for 4 nights and we had to have the room serviced for 3 out of 4 after having been out ALL DAY. The in house shopping experience was a total ripoff. I was expected to pay €42 for a €12 haircut and shave. There are no useful services like swimming pool, gym, etc

Location is close to many of the tourist/historic sites of Istanbul. If you are looking for a nice 4 star hotel with clean rooms and great location, then you came to the right place. The busy tram is just a 2 minute walking distance from the hotel, so you can do most of your sightseeing without the need of taking a dreadful cab! On the other hand, the staff did not speak good english and not of much help if you ask them about where to go and what to do as a tourist.

We stayed here for two nights with my girlfriend. The interiors of the hotel and the room are of high quality. Staff is professional and the service is good. Although the location is very convenient for the tourists willing to be close to the old city, the hotel is surrounded by small shops and jammed roads with all the time horning cars... This is the only thing I have disliked about this hotel. I made reservations for a Executive Club Level room for July 5th, in mid June. Four days before my planned arrival date I logged on to IHG.com to print my confirmation. To my great surprise, the reseration had been cancelled over two weeks ago! I never recieved a cancellation notice and there was no availability to rebook (as the hotel moved back its opening date).
