We had read negative comments and had some trepidations about going to this resort. In fact we had a fantastic time and cannot rate this hotel too highly.
The food was superb, the head chef, Andy, was very visible and ensured we had special banquets etc including king prawns etc. Fantastic range of food. More than one restaurant and just about 24 hr food and drink all inclusive - not what we have heard from other hotels who limit it to 1 bar or only between certain times.
The staff are lovely and can't do enough for you. Yes we tipped but given they earn about 40-60 euros a month I think that’s only reasonable. The cleaners were great; the rooms comfortable, the pools very clean. My kids enjoyed the jungle pools.
The beach was great - I could lie in the sun whilst my husband took the kids snorkelling.
The animators are fantastic particularly Amy who is poised for the west end.
Talking to others at the airport we definitely had the best time. Yes we all had the usual stomach upsets but I expect that and talking to others who have been to sharm its pretty much expected. The tablets from the local pharmacy soon sort it out.
We had a brilliant holiday, would definitely recommend it.

The hotel was lovely. The staff were brilliant and the food was superb!!
It was my birthday whilst we were there and the male maid noticed I had a birthday card in our room, so he left me some books as a present - very thoughtful.
The included food was really nice as was the food you can pay for.
Right on the sea and the snorkelling was fab!!
Would def go back there.

May 2007,  J Lowe

Well! I can’t believe some of these reviews I’ve read showing high ratings.
Please please please, dont go here if you want a decent holiday!
My partner and I went last year (September) Ok, Weather fantastic, snorkelling amazing, room clean and looked after well.
That’s the good points - now where shall I start with the bad ones.
Food very samey and boring, no entertainment at all, we went to Naama bay for a change (what a mistake) we were hassled as soon as we got off the bus, we just wanted to chill out but it was agro all the way.
Even sunbathing you’re not left alone. Ok, they seem friendly enough but, its only coz they want your money. People we've met there said they wouldn’t go back either.
We were both ill coming back too, we thought we'd give Egypt a go as never been before, and we won’t be going back.
If you go please chose another hotel, I go abroad every year and this is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. You can’t really go for walk as you are restricted.
We going back to Greece as people really friendly and don’t hassle you at all, this is our opinion! But please don’t waste your money at the Hauza.
This is a down to earth review, we're just working class people, please think carefully.
Happy holidays.

Mmm where do I start! Food: Not much...
6 / 10
Mar 2007, Miss S McLaughlin

Mmm where do I start!
Food: Not much variation in the main Tirana restaurant and it was mainly luke warm. You can string a half decent meal together but it’s pretty much the same every day.
Pizza bar: Made to order and lovely. A bit off putting when you queue as there are no covers over the food trays and the flies are about with a vengeance.
BBQ: A lovely change from the Tirana food as they cook fresh fish, kebabs and chicken on different days. Again lovely but make sure they’re cooked
Indian: Book when you get there because it’s hard to get in. Food was beautiful but my kids were miffed as the chicken was on the bone. There's no toilet in the restaurant itself so you had to go walk the pool bar for the nearest loo.
Seafood: We all got sick and ill the day after eating here. It’s pretty windy as it’s on the sea front but the place has no walls so can be chilly! Again the toilet wasn’t in the restaurant so you had to walk to the pizza bar and down the many steps which isn’t close at all.
Entertainment: Kids seemed to enjoy it. Daytime activities were nonexistent but maybe this was down to it being off-peak.
Ice creams: Prices changed every day and the guy never had any change. He would try to give you a mix of dollars, Euros and Egyptian pounds. We had 5 children with us which at £10 a go twice a day over the week, isn’t cheap.
The shop: Again prices change every day. Be wary of these guys as they try to rip you off left right and centre.
Traveller’s tum: We all got ill while there and are still not 100% now. My daughter is still ill now 3 days after getting home. The Pharmacist seemed to know exactly what was wrong with us all and knew exactly what to give us. Can’t pin point what it was as we all ate different things but didn’t meet one English party where nobody got ill.
Money: Don’t change into Egyptian as they prefer the pound.
Tips: Didn’t make a difference tipping at the beginning. Next time I’d leave it until the end.
Communication: Very poor. Yes you’re in a different country but when you have a problem or need help it’s very hard communicating. If they cater for English then they should have more translators.
Russians: You will queue for queues at this place and get slightly miffed at the rude, obnoxious, arrogant, bad-mannered, ignorant Russians/Germans continuously pushing in and letting doors slam in your face. By the end of the holiday you're that pissed off that you'll want to slap them silly. Trust me.
Pool: Freezing cold but chuck yourself in and you will get used to it. Slides are great fun but the Jacuzzi water was filthy. Took my baby son in there and he had a dubious hair on his face, so shot out pronto!!
Taxis: MY GOD be prepared. You may get an unprompted tour to which is down to guilt on their part for overcharging you so don’t panic if this happens.
Trips: Book through the hotel and NOT through the people walking around privately. They will tell you anything you want to hear as long as they get your money.

Hotel: Beautiful, clean, always being looked after i.e. grass watered, rooms cleaned. No facilities for baby changing at all and steps everywhere which was an absolute nightmare with pushchairs and toddlers.

On the last day we wanted a minibus to the airport as the transfer was going to get us there far too early (We'd have be waiting 4 1/2 hours in the airport with 5 small children if we'd have gone on the transfer).
We ordered one and for a fare that should normally be £5 he charged us £25. When we asked why it was so much he laughed "because we know you have to get to the airport and have no choice!" Not a good way to treat people if you want them to come back.
Would definitely go back to Egypt but would not stay at this resort.

After booking this hotel and checking out some other reviews, I was very doubtful but after going there, the only thing that let this hotel down was the food.
Bakery was very nice, always had fresh bread made. Deserts- nice cakes, no ice cream and no fruit (apart from a bowl of oranges).
Main meals- rice, rice, potatoes, rice. Not much meat- we found it hard to put an actual meal together. There is a man who cooks fresh pasta and will put in what you want, this was nice.
Salad bar. Not much choice.
Pizza bar at the beach- good idea as you get to pick what you want on your pizza.
But you have to remember you are going on holiday to a foreign country, so you have to be prepared to eat different food.
Hotel its self was lovely, never seen so many people working on keeping it clean; cutting the grass daily, trimming the bushes even cleaning the rocks on the water feature.
Jungle pool is great for children and they won’t get bored quick.
Waiting staff are very friendly and helpful, found some problems with the guest relations and getting the bus to Old Sharm booked. This was resolved though.
Went into Naama bay 1 night, hard rock cafe, tgi Fridays, McDonalds... was nice to visit but I'm glad the hotel is away from all the business.
Mini Zoo- this was nicely kept, good idea for children.

Feb 2007, Mrs J Richards

This Hotel is OK but not 5*. We have no real complaints as far as cleanliness goes, there were ants and cockroaches plenty but this is Egypt!
We are regular travellers, taking holidays 3-5 times a year; this was our 3rd visit to Sharm and have never experienced this problem before: - All of the family (2 adults 2 teenagers) had dreadful upset stomachs whilst at this hotel, as did the others!
We did not eat anywhere else! We spoke to the manager and the rep; both seemed aware of the problem but as it was not a named bug, so we weren't too bothered!
Mostly we recovered after 3-4 days however my 17 year old suffered for 2 weeks after we returned home.
We could not pin it down to any one thing and noted other guests staying for 2 weeks were eating nothing but bread, to avoid getting the bug a second time.
Be warned, and if you are going to stay there takes loads of re-hydration sachets and buckets full of Imodium!

Feb 2007, Mrs AJ Stewart

I went to this resort with my husband, and three children aged 14, 8, and 6. It was an absolute nightmare.
There was no heated swimming pool as advertised, as they stated that they working on it.
The food was awful and within a day of arrival, both I and my husband developed chronic stomach upsets.
The whole hotel ground stunk of untreated sewerage and I would have given anything to come home after two days.
There was virtually no entertainment and very little for the children to do. They did have crazy golf course but only ever had one ball for 5 people.
The beach on this resort was very small and rocky and due to the shape of it, you could not walk any distance along the beach. It was very hilly with lots of steps.
The miniature zoo was awful, very cruel to the animals and smelt. It added very little to the hotel. The most I would have rated this hotel would be a 2 star.
After 3 days we were transferred to the Oriental hotel which was much better, cleaner, nicer food, heated pool and much nicer beach. Due to this hotel we were able to enjoy the last 3 days of our holiday.
If you have already booked at this hotel and are not happy with it, ask to speak to you rep immediately and asked to be transferred, do not leave it 4 days like I did (hoping it would get better, which it didn't).

We had a brilliant time at this hotel, again!
The food was fantastic and lots of choice including chips! All the staff were very friendly and helpful.
We stayed at this hotel three times in 2006 and had no complaints. Rooms are cleaned every day and we never had problems with "grubby" towels.
I admit there is no bacon for breakfast (this being a Muslim country!) but, as previously mentioned, why go to Egypt for bacon and chips! You could get beef burgers at breakfast though!
There is little organised entertainment in the evenings but there is nothing to stop you taking a shuttle bus or taxi into Naama Bay, or visiting Fantasia or taking the sunset quad bike trip etc.

We are definitely going back this year!

I have never returned to a hotel...

I have never returned to a hotel twice but enjoyed the first holiday so much decide to go again.
Return quests are treated like old friends the staff are 5 star especially Tyson, Danny Boy, Mido, Shariff, Osma, Muurder there’s to many to mention them all by name. The hotel owner and his family were staying at the same time and made us feel very welcome.
I have read some of the reviews on here and quite frankly the comments about the food are not true, you can get chips every day, at the pool bar. Though why you would want to travel all the way to Egypt to eat chips I do not know.
Between the 3 restaurants you could get fresh fish, steak, chicken, freshly cooked pasta dishes and all sorts of tandoori and curries. The on site bakery produce fresh baked bread every day and the desserts were delicious.
The chef in the Indian restaurant was brilliant and I have already made a reservation in the Indian for later in the year.
The Xmas and new years eve Gala’s were busy but the staff worked very hard to make it enjoyable and you could get almost anything you could think of to eat (except chips). Fresh Lobster and crabs Giant shrimps, Beef ,Turkey and desserts to die for.
The rooms were spotless and cleaned every day.
The Hotel is not 5 stars as we know it but the staff certainly are I think for the price you pay for all inclusive is good value for money.
It does get a bit chilly in the evening take a wrap or jacket it is winter after all.
The beach and snorkelling of the natural reef is amazing and must be seen to be believed.
We are defiantly going again. My husband had been involved in a bad accident before we went and unable to carry suitcase's, I emailed the hotel in advance and they arranged for someone to meet us and help, even though we were delayed 3 hours, they were still there nothing is to much trouble for the staff.

People very nice couldn’t do enough...
3 / 10
Jan 2007, Miss C Mackie

People very nice couldn’t do enough 4 you. The room was kept nice and clean and beds changed everyday, towels were changed everyday but they were very grubby.
Food very bad not enough for English people, there wasn’t much for us to eat plenty of salads but never any meat just lots of cheese, which I don’t like anyway.
There were never any chips, there were potatoes but were very undercooked, meat must have been very scarce as they didn’t use it very often, no bacon for breakfast or sausages just boiled or fried eggs the rest of the breakfast I wouldn’t have eaten.
Lucky they had an Indian restaurant because were used it quite often due to the lack of good food...not impressed either when I was eating at the restaurant and a mouse ran over my foot.
Room ok lovely view beach front sea view. Not impressed as it was supposed to be rated 5*. More like 2*.
I was quite shocked there were many people that refused to stay there and was moved to different accommodation...we met people on New Years Eve they were from London and Ipswich and they were also very dissapointed in the place.
It was very cold in the evenings and they had an amphitheatre which was outside but there was only entertainment for kids until about 9, then there was nothing to do.
They had a reception area where u cold have a drink but nothing else going on, so the evenings were quite boring.
I would return to Egypt but I wouldn’t go to that hotel again not because of the people cos they were fab, but the food and not being a 5* as stated.
I really wasn’t that impressed, I go on hols 3 times a year and I m not a complainer, but to be honest I wouldn’t go there again.

We only booked this hotel as it...

Jan 2007, Mr Steven Barrett

We only booked this hotel as it boasts it has a Dive Centre and we were both wanting to do some diver training - Yes it does have a Dive Centre - and guess what - its empty!
I even emailed the Hotel to ensure they had this facility and they said yes they did.
The ordinary staff are really excellent, I took the advice of a previous comment and paid our room cleaner when we arrived, so we had fresh water and juice in the fridge every day and a nice clean room, plus he gave me a can of fly spray which came in very handy - as the place is crawling with bugs but the spray sorted most of them out.
Be aware that on the day you are leaving you cannot get a meal in the main restaurant, they force you to eat in the snack bar which is a bit of a swizz.
Also ensure your door cards are new ones as they try to hand out tatty cards and then want to charge e£20 when they break, so the guests get to pay for the Hotel replacing its door entry cards.
The Internet is a joke - its in a little shop and has less speed than a dead slug there is no Wi-Fi (unlike the Radisson SAS just up the road).
As a five star I would say it comes nearer to a UK two star hotel.
The food was nice the staff great but be aware of the points above plus you are literally miles from anywhere so expect to pay e£60 for a trip into Naama Bay.
We sorted out a really good Bedouin taxi driver who took us to the Hilton Waterfalls Hotel everyday, as they have a dive club run by Ocean who are really professional.
I go to Sharm every three months or so for diver training, but would not recommend the Hauza unless you have little children, like beer swilling eastern Europeans and go to bed early!

Hotel very clean, although not 5 star as we know it. Staff really helpful and friendly, can't do enough for you.
Only negative, there was no entertainment on at night, every night was the same. Which made it along night, especially as it gets dark early in December.
Also pool freezing would of been better if it was heated.
Food was good plenty of choice and pizzas were great. Private beach was good.
