Lovely hotel, but why rip off customers just because U2 came to town?
Stayed at the hotel so we could have a good time at the U2 gig. Used Radisson hotels before, and Park Plaza's etc so know what to expect. But £238 for a room with NO breakfast? Im sure every hotelier in Cardiff put the prices up because U2 were in town and I suppose its a case of supply and demand. Now, my review of the hotel itself. Lobby and reception - Poor. Just looks amateurish with the 3 desks semi hidden by the pillars. Rooms - Nice. Clean, new and very well laid out. TV system was rubbish. Poor grainy... more
What a great surprise this place is.
We ended up in the Raddison unintentionally - we had to move out of a hotel due to a bad experience and it was the only hotel where we could stay for two nights in the centre of Cardiff. But to be honest it made our stay in Cardiff. GOOD The Missoni blankets on the bed The large 'I could do pilates in here without moving the furniture' room The bathroom - big & beautiful, makes you want to stay in all day The toiletries - plentiful The firm kingsize bed with plenty of fluffy pillows Lovely friendly staff -... more
Great location, stylish design
Very impressed with this hotel - yes it's not quite finished yet but the rooms (we only stayed in a standard double) are stunning: floor to ceiling windows, boutique-style furnishings and lots of room, plus extras like an in-room safe, iron and ironing board, etc. The TV reception (and choice of channels) was poor, but we didn't go to sit in our hotel room and watch TV anyway! Skip the expensive breakfast - there are lots of great cafes just a few streets away serving breakfasts for a quarter of the price. Fantastic location too.
Good, but could be great after a bit of tweeking!
We stayed here for a long weekend, upon the 13th floor. We had veiws overlooking the railway line, which didn't bother us and we never heard any noise from the trains. The hotel is about 15 mins walk to the Millenium stadium, and about 7 mins walk from the train station. We parked in the nearby NCP car park for £8.00 for 24 hours. The hotel is situtated on a busy traffic light junction, so its quite difficult to stop and unload outside. We paid for Business class, but to be honest, I wouldn't bother again, the only obvious bonus,... more
Great Stay
Well, as already stated, the hotel is not quite finished but this was only really noticeable when you came in from the car park or if you wanted to use the leisure facilities. The public areas were all finished to a high standard and the rooms were realy good with lovely bathrooms. Location is really handy for town centre but parking is very limited. The staff were really friendly and very professional (something I could not say about the Radisson in Durham where we had stayed a couple of weeks earlier). The staff here price... more
Great rooms at a great price
We booked this hotel for 1 nights stay having booked it through Late Rooms for £80. Some people have mentioned that this hotel did not have some of the finishing touches, but we didn;t find this at all. The standard room we had was large, very clean and the bed very large and comfy, although slightly let down by hard pillows! The room had quality fittings and the extra touch of wine glasses available in the room, appreciated. All round a great nights stay.
Brand spanking new hotel with a fresh vibe about it
The hotel has only been open for about a month, and although it has the odd finishing touches still to be done (stairs in the carpark still bare and unfinshed, also temporary signs on the some doors) this is a truly lovely hotel. It has a lovely clean, fresh, new feeling about it, and this seems to have rubbed off on the enthusiastic Staff. I stayed here with my boyfriend and friend over the Ashes, and it is in a prime spot for any sporting attraction in the City. It is also a stone throw from Central Station, and a short stroll to... more
Really good location
6 of us stayed here for the weekend of the British Speedway GP at the Millenium Stadium. Whilst agreeing with other reviewers that yes, the hotel is not yet finished, we were given an excellent rate because of this (i.e spa was not yet open amonst other things). The bedrooms were large and airy. Really comfortable bed , wide screen tv, air conditioned, tea/coffee making facilities, free wi-fi, minibar and safe. Our rooms were on the 10th floor and close to the railway line but I can honestly say that the sound proofing was brilliant and... more
Nothing is ready yet...
As far I clould understand this hotel as been open for 2 weeks, so far. Nothing is ready yet... garage (£12.00 a day) still with works, half of the first floor (bar area) still with works. Recepetion is a silly table only (not ready yet...), breakfast really poor comparing with other Radissons, and noisy (yes... they still building part of the floor. Location is perfect, next to the centre and to the bay. I am sure this can be a nice place in few months, but they should not be open yet, if they do not have conditions.
Great Hotel and Great location
My husband and I stayed at the Radisson Blu Cardiff last night and we were very impressed with the hotel and the service. This trip was a birthday treat for my husband and I had told the hotel this. We were very impressed with our room (cost £105 including breakfast) which was on the top floor (21st) with great views of Cardiff Bay and the Millennium Stadium. The room was large with some chocolates and a little note to welcome us (personlalised to my husband and wishing him a happy birthday). Other good points ; great coffee maker, two TV's... more
Really lovely hotel.. despite a few teething problems!
We stayed at the Radisson Blu in Cardiff one week after it opened. There were a few teething problems (a bit of a delay checking in as our room wasn't ready.. and some bits of the hotel not clearly sign posted yet etc!) but our stay here was excellent. The staff made up for the delay by offering us complimentary drinks and when we got to our room, chocolate covered strawberries had been left for us, which was lovely. The room was amazing, on the 20th floor with spectacular views over the whole city. Our room also had perhaps THE most... more
