Britannia Hotel Bournemouth

I booked 20 single rooms on behalf of our Golf Society to stay on a DBB basis last Friday and Saturday nights. Check in efficiently handled but extremely small lifts, particularly if you are trying to take golf clubs up to your room! Rooms are small as well but the whole hotel has been recently considerably refurbished and everywhere was extremely clean and well presented. Stayed here for three nights over a w/end. Reception was poor had to wait for 20 mins to check in. Room was large but dirty, looked as if it hadn't been cleaned for months. Insides of windows were filthy. When this was pointed out to a member of staff, she said that the cleaning staff did not have enough time to clean rooms properly. We made our own beds on the second day, so that the staff could clean the bathroom. No joy there. good location 2 min walk from beach, 10 from centre. in quiet tree lined road. good refurbishments. great buffet breakfast. relaxed atmosphere. polite staff. evening meal variable quality so check menu. good value hotel all in all. would recommend to others.

The entrance lobby is HORRIBLE, like walking into a run down office building! Staff OK, room large (good) clean (good) bathroom v good (separate shower and bath great for family). Decor recent but Very Old fashioned (didn't know you could still get anaglypta wallpaper!). And check blankets on the beds like in boarding school! TV Fuzzy. Breakfast was plentiful (if a bit greasy) but dining hall is a horrible badly designed mix of contemporary and 80's. We recently stayed at the Britannia hotel for three nights mid week mainly due to the cheap price offered and as a base to explore Dorset. For the money we found the hotel to be of a decent standard and have stayed in much worse hotels for more money! The hotel seems to have been upgraded on the cheap but all in all we were happy with the room. The car park was small but we managed to find a space for each of the nights. I booked this hotel through the internet for a nights stay on Saturday 24 March, for a double room with breakfast, as were going to the BIC which is only a 10 minute walk away. We arrived on saturday and were told that they had overbooked, I was not impressed as I contacted them the week before to confirm my reservation and they advised that a room has been reserved for us. My Husband and I stayed at the Britannia Bournemouth for 2 nights at the end of February. I wanted a Hotel close to the BIC and the Britannia was about a 10 minute walk away. It was very close to one of the paths down to the sandy beach. I was really happy with the hotel. It had been refurbished last year. Myself and friend stayed here Sat 3rd March and found the location to town with the bars and restaurants to be fantastic. For £45 a room we were pleasantly surprised by how it was. It was a good size, quite clean but in need of a bit of loving tender care. It had a really good shower which is always a good thing. However, we did not get much sleep for two reasons: Firstly, other people were not so quiet when they returned to their rooms so between 2.00am and 5.30am my sleep was disrupted. Arrived - rude staff, attempted to overcharge us. Dinner - poor, overcooked buffet food Buying drinks became a serious problem using credit card - machine kept breaking. Hotel was full of noisy stag groups. Staff were openly critiscised in front of guests by management and supervisor figures. Car park was absolutely full, even though it was off peak seaon. Extreme noise from other guests wasn't dealt with (approx 2AM) Left hotel at 2.35am and drove home to London in disgust. What more can I say? If... more
