Great place to stay
Outline Stayed 4 nights mid week with business colleagues. Arrival They have a large car park and a large lounge area in the reception. Check in was swift and informative. We were told the hotel is undergoing renovation at the moment, although I did not hear any noise during my stay so that was ok. Room The room was small and outdated with poor reception on the television (due to be fixed with the refit). The bed was really comfortable though so points for that. Plenty of towels and tea and coffee facilities were... more
Bit shabby
Four of us stayed at the Park Inn for a night, picking the hotel as it was one of the few within walking distance to the town that also had parking. When we arrived, they hadn’t received our booking from a third party and the receptionist barely spoke English, but her supervisor managed to get us booked in. My husband and I ended up in a twin room, despite paying for a “Queen”. Overall the room was quite shabby – cheap duvet and pillows, even cheaper toiletries. It was also blisteringly hot in the rooms, despite the radiator being... more
Reasonable
A reasonable place. Nothing more. It wasn't expensive - only £55 for the night (Thursday). Bed was comfy. Room was clean. Reception was slow. Bathroom was a bit tatty.
OK
Small rooms that are not particularly well equipped and dated decor (peeling wallpaper). Slow check in and bar service though friendly service. Breakfast was reasonable. Better than the Westminister Hotel next door but still far from a good base in Nottingham - I'll keep looking for the right hotel.
great breakfast, shame about the rooms
I stayed here last weekend with my husband and another couple of friends. Our room was on the first floor, very small, shabby and grimy. Our shower didn't work properly and turned rapidly into a bath experience due to a blocked plug hole. the wallpaper was peeling off the walls, there were various stains on the walls and floor with the carpet being patched in areas. our friends room on the third floor was slightly better than ours, it was bigger and not as shabby but still in need of refurbishment. when we checked in, the girl on reception... more
Large, comforatble rooms (showing its age just a bit)
When I worked in Nottingham in 1996, this was a vibrant, clean town and had been voted one of the best places to live in England. Coming back in the spring of 2005, I was a bit shocked to find it starting to decay. Despite some improvements (like the tram), much of the town has stagnated. The city centre shopping centres in particular are starting to look dirty and ancient. The once clean, safe streets now seem littered with not only junk & debris, but quite a few more shady characters than I used to recall. I wasn't too surprised to see... more
Good deals and facilities
A bunch of us stayed here for a stag night. The price was good, and the pool and sauna were great for the morning after! The hotel is a 20 minute walk from the centre of Nottingham, and the decor is the usual business hotel style...but if you want a pretty hotel, go to the Lake District!
Oh dear oh dear
Oh dear. Bit of a Fawlty Towers here. I spent most of the night waiting for an ironing board, despite being told it was on its way several times. On its way via London, I imagine. Also, having finally obtained said board, I went for a shower only to find it not working. And the bath was about a yard long. Not the most comfortable arrangement. The room was a "catswinger" so to speak. Breakfast was pleasant but I was served by an unpleasant woman who delivered my toast straight on to my open newspaper and said "here". If this is the only... more
good if it can get it cheap
The hotel furnishings are a bit faded but OK. What is great is the leisure facilities - a really hot steam room and sauna (which isnt always the case) and reasonable pool. If you get it reasonably cheaply - I paid £49 room only on laterooms.com - it is good value. Note that the hotel is a 15-20 minute walk from town - down an interesting road with lots of second hand book and record shops and other slightly unconventional stores.
OK, but not worth the money
I have just stayed at the Nottingham Moathouse, for one night two days ago. I was tole on the telephone when I booked that It would be OK for my partner and I to chack in from 2pm onwards. Unfortunately, when we got there at 2pm our room wasn't ready for us. We were both very tired from travelling and wanted to go straight up to our room. Even though my partner complained twice, unfortunately no effort was made by the staff to hurry up the cleaning of our room or to put us in another room. After waiting for thirty five minutes, we were... more
