Somerset Seri Bukit Ceylon

This hotel was perfect for our family. With 2 young toddlers, it was a clean, spacious 2 bed apartment with well equipped kitchen and 2 bathrooms. Also had a safe and washer/dryer. We had a fantastic view of the Petronas towers. The staff were genuinely friendly, helpful and professional. I cannot fault a single staff member during the entire 11 day stay. This is great apartment hotel in the heart of Kuala Lumpur's Chinatown. Lately the area has become very trendy, with expatriate bars and italian restaurants housed in old renovated shop houses. Depending on the location of your room, you might hear some some of the disco bar music if you open the balcony doors on Friday or Saturday. The Somerset Seri Bukit Ceylon is a great KL hotel. We were on the 8th floor in a 2 bedroom apartment. The room was very clean and spacious and had a great view of the city. The hotel is in very close walking distance to the main street of KL, bukit bintang and also to the monorail that can take you to other places. The included breakfast was fine it has ceareals, croissants, juices and vaiorus other things, it is a contental type of breakfast.

Bedrooms are nice, with laminate wood flooring and very comfortable bed. The remainder of the room has tile flooring, as does the main corridor so it can be a little noisy if people above you are stomping around or dragging suitcases along the corridor floor. But these are minor issue. Breakfast is limited but nothing wrong with it. Those who complain are usually the one's who want everything free and lots of it too. Just returned from a week's stay at the Somerset Seri Bukit Ceylon and I am surprised with all the negative reviews. We were happy with our two-bedroomed apartment and found it quite spacious for a family of 2 adults and 2 teenage children. There was no noise at all even though we were on the 6th floor. Housekeeping was done daily and we always had clean towels and rooms. I love this place and stay often and was surprised to see some negative reviews here. I have stayed at several KL hotels and nothing compares in terms of value for money. The studio room is much larger than any hotel room under US$100/day, has an excellent home theatre and fully equipped kitchen (microwave, wine glasses, you name it), lovely big bathroom with both a bathtub and separate shower stall, and everything is attractive and functional. Basically, Somerset Seri Bukit Ceylon is divided into two parts with two entrances. Apartments on 13th floor or above are privately owned/occupied, or rented out on corporate lease and managed by Somerset. Those from 5th to 12th floors are reserved for hotel guests. Stayed : 1 to 3 June 2007 in a two bedroom premier. Rate : Pay 460++ total $529/- with 4 breakfast included. GOOD: Clean and good security. NO GOOD: Hotel are blocked by 6 high rising condo and offices block. Sunlight blocked and I cannot find any nice KL city view. You see people houses and doing only cause they are only about 25 meters away from you. NEED IMPROVEMENT: VERY VERY small, narrow, sharp angle turn in car park. Bf and I stayed there from 28-30 Dec 06 in the 1 bedrm apmt. Nice location, just 5mins walk to bukit bintang. security of the apmt is gd; u'll have to use the room card to even gain access to lobby and you can only access your own floor with the card. the security guards were helpful and friendly. the units are roomy and tastefully furnished with an impressive range of quality kitchenware. perhaps the only downside was the range of bathroom amenities. it was pitiful as only shower gel, shampoo and body lotion are provided.
