AKA Hotel Resort & Spa

We went to AKA in October and were not sure what to expect as we had never heard of it. But my husband and I came back thinking that was our best holiday ever! The private pools, roofs and massage rooms are simply amazing. And Breakfast in your room by the pool is absolutely spectacular. We travelled with our 6 month baby and had a wonderful stay here and highly recommend it! My husband and I stayed at the Aka before its official opening, simply because I found an amazing deal online: under USD $140 per night for a villa with pool + daily breakfast. I didn't find much info on the hotel and even my Thai friends have never heard of it, but we decided to try it out anyway. After a 3-hour car journey from Bangkok, we were surprised to see our driver driving through Hua Hin and going up-hill instead of driving towards the sea. I stayed here with family and friends last October, and our trip was amazing! My friend and I are still talking about the food today and it's been half a year since our trip! The fruit juices are SO fresh and SO good. I even had to buy a juice blender when I came home. We looked forward to breakfast every morning -- fresh tropical fruit, eggs, fried rice, etc, all displayed like art on your plate! AKA is a fantastic pool villas resort, as everybody notes already! But, certainly, the best of it is the fantastic food prepared by 2 French chefs (yes 2 experienced and awarded chefs for 50 villas!!!). It starts by a fabulous breakfast, not the kind you can find everywhere, with a lot of uninteresting food, but a bakery which is, to my taste, the best in thailand (clearly, the pate feuilletee is made with the best of butter). Recently stayed at the AKA Resort and I must agree with some of the things that have been said, both good and bad. The good points are: Very, very quiet location, there's nothing to disturb you if you want peace and quiet. Food was EXCEPTIONAL! It was truly the best Thai food I have ever eaten anywhere in the world! Amazing! A couple of us friends were looking for a getaway-from-it-all resort destination, and AKA proved to be the answer. We were attracted to Hua Hin as a holiday destination for its relatively quiet & idyllic seaside-town image, nothing like the hustle-bustle of Bangkok or Phuket, plus getting some water sports on the side. A group of three of us stayed in a two-bedroom villa, and had a really enjoyable and relaxing experience. Staff were all friendly and helpful, and the villas were luxurious, spacious and private. The amenities of the resort include a bar and French and Thai restaurants, pool, a library with Internet access and book collection - in fact, we could have easily spent our whole time in the resort itself. Buggies are readily available to escort guests between various parts of the resort. I recommend this resort for groups and families.

we just returned from the AKA resort , the resort is really nice , a bit too much minimalist for my taste with a very cold atmosphere.. rooms are really nice , private pool is awsome.. service is not as good as what you can expect for a resort member of Small luxury hotel of the world .. they only changed towels once a day, we had the experience of having a shower after golf at 2pm and the maid who prepare the room for the nightt didnt even change towels.. the TV is so small , they should at least have some LCD flat screen, instead of small... more

My friends and I (a group of 6) had a lovely stay at this small luxurious hotel last summer. We were very impressed by the facilities and staff at the resort. It was strategically located near some golf courses in Hua Hin. Knowing that it was just recenly opened, we were surprised by the high standard of service during our stay. Staff were friendly and co-operative. Amongst the 6 of us, we had 3 pool villas. Our time there could not have passed more quickly. Got a great three night deal in a 2 room pool villa by contacting the hotel directly. The property is quite badly signposted but we found it eventually. You do drive through some ugly wasteland to get to it, but the resort itself is gorgeous. Were greeted by staff with smoothies and cold towels whilst we checked in on comfy sofas. This resort has only been fully "live" since October 06 and in a few years time it will look spectacular when all of the plantings have grown in.
