Le Monde Edinburgh

Having travelled from Inverness to Edinburgh on business via Perth, Dunblane and Falkirk (!!!!) I was really looking forward to a nice relaxing, pampered night in Auld Reekie. I don't usually book £120 + a night hotels when I'm away, but I thought, I've got a long drive back to Brum, to hell with the guv'nor, I'm staying here!! I booked my client into le monde, on arrival they were upgraded to the New York room which was lovely. The restaurant was a differant story, the staff were not to helpful, we had to wait 20 minutes for our table, we were directed to the bar for a drink but no assistance offered to fight the 5 deep to get served. The food was rubbish for such an expensive hotel. I say stay in the hotel but for goodness sake don't eat here, unless you want totally ripped off!!

My partner and I have just recently returned from a short stay at the Le Monde Hotel, we were hoping for a relaxing stress free, romantic break for Valentines. This we certainly did not recieve, as soon as we entered the room the problems started, the electric door key wouldnt work, the safe wouldnt open and the plasma tele in the bathroom wasnt operational. Le Monde Hotel Edinburgh billed as a trendy new hotel in Edinburgh's main shopping area with themed rooms named after some of the world's top locations. The location of the hotel is superb, absolutely bang in the heart of George Street, close to all the lovely shops and restaurants. We stayed at Le Monde as part of a Hogmanay package. We were in the Atlantis room on the top floor. The room wasn't as big as expected, but was clean and nicely decorated. There is one fish tank in the wall between the bathroom and the bedroom, over the headboard of the bed. Don't be deceived by the photos - the other wall is just covered in turquoise glass, it's not an enormous fish tank as many people have thought. We stayed here for a friday and saturday night recently. Initial impressions are great, bars look amazing and the rooms (we stayed in Atlantis) were big and very comfortable, the bed was amongst the best I've ever slept in. Atlantis features a fishtank in the wall above the headboard, through which you gaze directly into the shower behind..very cool, very sexy :-) Tip - the pump in the fishtank buzzes all night, but you can ask reception to switch it off. Myself and my husband have just returned home from a fantastic two day stay at the Le Monde. From the moment you walk into the hotel you know you're going to have a brilliant time - the staff can't do enough for you and the surroundings are impecibble. The first night we stayed at the Havana room which overlooked George Street. While the room was a little small, the decor was beautiful with a lot of attention to detail. This was a chill out for my Husband and I, who own our own small hotel and have two small children. We parked our car immediately infront of the hotel and as it was after 6.00 p.m we could leave it there until 11.00 a.m next morning with an overnight ticket. We stayed in the Paris room and as everyone else has described the attention to detail is fantastic. Cleanliness is high on our priorities and we could not fault this.
