Hotel Slalom

Just returned from another great week staying at the Hotel Slalom. Second time round, it was just as good as I remembered. Tracey and the rest of the staff make you so welcome and its location right at the base of Mount Blanc and around the corner from an excellent choice of restaurants, is superb. It's certainly a pampering experience staying there, as the beds are really comfortable, with top-class linen, the bathrooms are luxurious and the complimentary bag of toiletries is a cut above the average. I spent two days at Le Slalom in mid March 2008 with my two cousins. We were expecting the traditional French ski house with small rooms and smaller bathrooms, man were we surprised! The hotel has recently been renovated, the rooms are clean and simple and the bathrooms are superb. Really sets a high standard. Tracy, the owner, makes you feel right at home and always there to help; as is the whole staff. The bar is great and becomes quite lively at night. We stayed for 4 nights in the middle of February 2008 and will more than likely be doing the same next year. Hotel Slalom is a super hotel, ideally placed. Only a 45 minute transfer (arranged by the hotel!) from Geneva, and only 20 yards from a main lift up to the slopes. Its easily possible to ski all the way back down to the hotel, saving the usual long walk in boots at the end of the day. This hotel provides a much needed luxury break from staying in mountain refuges. Although the interior is very modern and smart, it is relaxed and unstuffy. Two rather grubby backpackers made to feel most welcome. Although close to the main road, it is not directly on it and traffic noise is not a problem. We recommend it.

My wife and I recently spent four days at this truly special place. It really has the ambience of an English B&B, with quite personalized attention from the staff, particularly the owner- Tracey Spraggs and her friend, Vicki. We got the impression that Tracey and Vicki were major skiers, who adore the Chamonix pistes. While I cannot comment on the skiing(we were there in August), I can say that the hiking was simply wonderful. I spent a few wonderful nights at this hotel at the base of the ski resort of Les Houche in the Chamonix - Mont Blanc valley. The Hotel Slalom is about suberb service. The innkeeper/owner - Tracey - will do anything to ensure your stay is exactly as desired. Her staff has a similar attitude and desire to please. The hotel website describes the property as "luxury with gorgeous" rooms. I have just returned from a 5 day ski break with my son and friends in Les Houches. We all stayed at the Slalom and have nothing but praise for this little gem of a hotel. Tracey, the English owner, and her team have taken an old Savoyard hotel and turned it into a cool, boutique style retreat where one can relax in preparation for or at the end of a day in the beautiful mountains that surround it. I stayed at this hotel last minute and absolutely loved it. View of the mountains from bed. comfy beds and great owner and staff in general. Jo is super friendly and a good barman. Good decor throughout. 10 rooms makes a cozy atmosphere. Will definitely stay again!

We booked into the Hotel Slalom as a start point for doing the TMB. It is ideally situated as the route starts literally on the other side of the road (as does a telecabine if you want to skip the first bit of grind up the road). We also stayed here at the end of our trip as the owner kindly let us keep our luggage while we were gone. The hotel is simply but stylishly decorated in a minimalist style. A couple of years ago my wife and I stayed at this lovely traditional hotel. Decorated with a Scandinavian twist, it oozed easy, calm atmosphere often felt in Norway. (due to Scando owners) Excellent food every night, varied without being "showy" left you glowing after a fine day of skiing! A liquour to round off the evening allowed lolling in comfy beds to crown the perfect winter break. Many thanks again Andy Nelson
