this hotel is ok
We spent one night in the pier hotel and it was fine, the check in was easy and not overbearing. We had requested a top floor room with sea view but were advised that they had a better one with sea view. The hotel was clean, quiet and warm with good sea views no bad smells or rubbish we saw. £4.00 extra for full english breakfast is a bargin and it was fine and we were offerd fruit and yogart had we wanted it. Parking is an issue but we were lucky and you can get parked if you are prepared to walk a sort distance. There... more
Bad Break
A quiet weekend was ruined by the noise of a party below our room up to 23.30. The floor and furniture vibrated. Complaints to reception resulted in threats being made. Don't go there.
Under-Whelmed
I Would agree with other comments made by reviewers, the hotel was fine, clean inside, fairly good location, but the staff/owners were pretty unhelpful and looked bored and unhappy all the time. We heard someone ask to buy a drink (a soft drink) at 11.30 and the owner said they didn't open until 12.00! I am sure there are just as nice B&B and hotels in a town like Eastbourne were the welcome would be far friendlier.
What a find!!
Originally I tried to book this hotel through a company called Booking.com, but it kept saying they were full. I decided to email the hotel direct and got a response after a few days. They explained about the hotel and procedures I should follow, which I did and managed to get a double room for the few days I would be in Eastbourne. I was originally going to stay in London! I was so glad I did not. On arrival check in was smooth with no hitches, the reception area was pleasantly decorated with some calming colors. The man on reception was... more
Dreadful Experience
We stayed here for 4 nights in June. It's not very nice staying in a hotel where you are made to feel unwelcome. We constantly thought throughout our stay that the owners (husband and wife combo) didn't like us, but having read other reviews it would appear that is their attitude to all their guests. There were lots of things wrong with the room - too hot, too cramped, very noisy, a LOT of pigeons just outside the window, terrible view, bathroom fittings coming away in your hand. I could go on. But the one lasting memory... more
Stay Away!!
We stayed here in May 2007. Checking in - We walked into a rather small but nice reception, rang the bell, waited for a few minutes and were then greeted by the guy who owned the hotel. It took around 15 minutes to check in, and the guy didn't seem very sure about our bookings, (we had 2 double rooms booked) firstly he tried to tell us that only one room was bed and breakfast, and the other was room only. Then he kept changing the prices of the rooms, and then decided that, both rooms were in fact down for bed and breakfast when... more
Good Location
Hotel is located in an ideal situation in Eastbourne. Got to reception, gentleman was very helpful and pleasant. Room small but adequete with a seaview looking over to the Pier, this was quite pleasant but there is a night club at the end of the Pier and kickout time is approx 3am on Firday and Saturday nights which meant lots of people hanging about making the usual noise. We are young ourselves so did not bother us too much but if you a bit older request a rear room. Found the walls of our room rather thin, could hear... more
The Pier Hotel - Good Stay
I enjoyed my stay at the hotel. The front desk was pleasant. The interior is clean, well furnished and comfortable. There is a sunporch facing the sea and the pier. The view from my single room was nice. Although the room was a bit small, I didn't need much since I was staying on my own. There was a TV with remote, a nice wardrobe and clean towels. Although the shower was also a bit small, the water pressure was good, and showerhead was easy to use. Breakfast was very good. Served to order fresh by a pleasant and willing staff. The... more

Never again
Stayed one night at the Pier Hotel. Average rooms, average price, however, we were thrown out of the Residents Bar at 10.00 p.m. as it had to be locked up for the night and were told we could go down into the Public Bar, which was smoky and noisy due to it being Karaoke Night. So at 10p.m. it was either go to bed or go out. We had also asked what time the restaurant finished serving meals and were told that it was at around 7 p.m., despite finding out later that the website and brochure both state 9.30 p.m. However, we did go out to eat... more
