AC Hotel Alicante by Marriott

I have stayed in other AC hotels in Spain and Italy, in general they are very good with nice rooms, many times they are a bit too expensive. This was not expensive at all, and the room (a superior room) was absolutely perfect, large, with free minibar, with a nice lounge chair, a cd player with a house CD (how annoyiing when you have a CD player and no CDs to play) and a flat screen. Well I'd like to start by saying that this was the second summer I've been travelling around spain - this time I visited 17 cities and stayed for at least 1 night in 12 of them. This summer the city we choose to stay longer was alicante. As we are usual clients of Ac Hotels, we stayed at Ac Alicante. This was the worst place we ever stayed, not for the hotel itself but for all surrounding it. First of all there's absolutly nothing around the hotel...Only dust and constructions everywhere. We stayed here for two nights the location was perfect for us just a 15-20 minute walk in the centre of town and to the beach. The room was nice and spacious. The complementary cold drinks in the mini bar were a nice touch. The breakfasts were a bit pricey but very good and convenient as I didn't notice any cafés next to the hotel. I had been a bit worried before our stay about the comments I had read about the area being a bit dodgy and although I did see a streetwalker one night it didn't seem that bad. Parking was €10 per day.

Rooms fantastic for a romantic weekend for 2, however the swimming pool is only a small bath tub, you're not allowed to use it before 10.00!!! and there are only 10 sunbeds to fight over for 180 rooms! In other words great if you want to stay in your room, but anything else forget it. G.Walker

Stayed in the AC Alicante for a week. We had a lovely room - very modern fittings and a good sized bathroom. We had a side view of the sea, which meant we looked out over a site that has been cleared for development and also over the working port - but we could see the sea! The hotel pool is a good size, though for us a little on the cool side in May, as we didn't see as much sun as we'd hoped for and the pool isn't heated. Stayed here with some friends from Weds through to Sun morning in October. Very trendy hotel, fabulous room, really comfortable bed. The hotel resembles a UK business style hotel. Identikit rooms, buffet breakfast etc, but to me that is a good thing because you know that your room will be a good size, you know that it will be warm, comfortable and you can get 24 hour service. It takes 15 mins walk to the beach and 10 min walk to town. In Alicante there are plenty of bars and restaurants. The thing we really liked was Alicante was not... more

Nicely decorated hotel as mentioned in previous reviews. Room service was excellent (and food was yum!) and restaurant served a lovely lunch. The downside is the area the hotel is in - too many young ladies swinging handbags for my liking! Even with my husband with me I felt the area was a little on the un-salubrious side for my liking... I would certainly try other AC hotels, but not this one. In fact Alicante itself did not ring my bell (and I am a confirmed Hispanophile!)

This is a very classy hotel which is close to the airport. While the location may at first seem a little odd, it's in the building of a major construction area, it's actually just outside of the town which means that it is quieter. The front desk staff were very good and our early check in was no problem. The hotel is still very quiet and we only saw a few other guests while we were there. Just been for the weekend, what a stylish modern hotel. If you love Ikea design you'll love the hotel. Whats more it wasn't expensive. It took ten minutes from the airport in a taxi. Only downside it isn't in the middle of town but a walk of 10-15mins sees you in the thick of it. It does look out onto the docks and the main road into town runs in front. But you rarely get any noise. The staff speak english some better than others but you can communicate. It was immaculatly clean, relaxing and a great contempary design and not forgetting... more

The AC Alicante is a brand new hotel situated 5 minutes walk from the Marina on the southside of Alicante. although the website states views out towards the sea these views are over the docks, this and its location on a busy road are the 2 factors which stop it from getting an "excellent". Inside, however, the hotel is stunning. Everything is clean ,modern and very stylish with public areas and bedrooms beautifully presented.
