exceeded all expectations, definately stay again
when we pulled up to the hotel and parked our car we were greeted by Paul and Linda like long lost friends. our short break was off to a flying start., lots of useful advice on where to go and what to do, no effort was too great no detail too small. Our rooms which both overlooked the garden and shared a balcony were clean tidy and very well presented, much better than other more expensive hotels we have stayed in. Breakfast was excellent served in comfortable and quiet surroundings and although our visit was in October we were still able... more
Delightful well appointed hotel. owners Paul and Linda simply charming
We have stayed at Cary Court several times and enjoyed relaxing in the tropical gardens or beside the pool. The rooms are spotless and attention to detail fastidious Paul and Linda are charming hosts and their local knowledge invaluable. This hotel is very well appointed and we highly recommend it to those discerning people who have come to expect just that little bit extra from their holiday in Torquay.
Beautiful Hotel, perfect hosts
A very warm welcome at this old plantation house, we were made to feel at home instantly. Paul and Linda are the perfect hosts. I felt like Bette Davis sitting on the porch sipping my wine and enjoying the view of the fantastic gardens before retiring to my room which had a fabulous four poster bed, the house is truly beautiful. Paul is so helpful and nothing was too much trouble, and Linda cooks a wicked english breakfast. Next time I visit Torquay I hope Cary Court is not fully booked!
Fantastic
As a local I was looking for somewhere to stay between houses. I knew of the Cary Court as I had stayed there back in 1995 when it was named differently. What a fantastic place to stay. Linda & Paul, resident proprietors and hosts are the most welcoming people I could have wished to have looking after me, because I was a short notice booking with an openended departure date, I had to change rooms several times, not a challenge, I packed, went to work & hey presto, collected my keys on reurn to be in another part of the world, (all the... more

The hotel where to start garden amazing large with intimate decked areas to sit and be quiet just made for relaxing , there is a lovely pool which we were fortunate to take a swim as it was dry weather towels provided , there was a comfortable room with magazines to read and a good view of pool and garden wow , also a lounge area to sit just so much choice to have a lovely break away , a short distance from town so a good location to add to... more
A very warm welcome
Have just returned from a lovely weekend at Cary Court in Torquay. Drove up to this lovely plantation villa style property above the town I never realised Torquay was so mountainous. After a long drive down from East Anglia we were greetedtand made very welcome by Paul who helped us in with our luggage and showed us our large very comfortable room with a comfy four poster bed. The ensuite shower room was very clean modern and spacious. The house felt lovely and warm and instantly we felt relaxed. Breakfast was to be served over... more
WOW
Have just come back from the Cary Court and wasn't expecting too much...but was bowled over not just by the Hotel but also the warm reception given by the owners - Linda & Paul. Breakfast was a good 10/10. Would I go back to Torquay - YES. would I stay at the Cary court - YES !
Fantastic Short Break - Highly Recommended!
What a fabulous short break - didn't want to come home! As soon as we walked through the door we were welcomed like long lost friends. A very pretty hotel, in old Colonial Style, the bedrooms and all the common areas are clean, well furnished, comfortable and welcoming. The gardens are particularly lovely, with many levels of decking with a lush tropical feel. Fantastic to sit and have a glass of wine or two. The hotel does not have a paying bar, but you are encouraged to bring your own and use the chiller in the conservatory... more
Enjoyable stay
Catching up on places I have stayed...... I was down in Exeter for a business meeting, and wanted to try Torquay so took up the Cary Court offer of 3 nights for the price of two, with my wife. While I had work during the day, my wife had Torquay to explore. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, very friendly owners, and very comfortable accommodation, good breakfast, nice room, the bar area was also nice and was next to the swimming pool. We visited in winter, so the pool was closed, but the gardens were very nice with plenty... more
Lovely Stay
Very clean hotel with extremely pleasant hosts. Rooms comfortable and clean, with a good hearty breakfast served in the morning. Would stay here again.
