Hacketts York House Hotel

We have just returned from a "twixmas" break at this hotel and have nothing but praise for the management and staff who went out of their way to make it a most enjoyable experience for everyone.The food was excellent ,the room was spotless but as stated in previous reviews small and the housekeeping was well above average. As seasoned travellers and in particular of coach holidays we would rate this hotel way above average and we feel that we could not have received better treatment had we stayed in a 5* hotel.

Can't believe there are bad reports on this place! If you want five star then pay five star prices! The hotel, staff, food & locaton were perfect for us. Bearing in mind what price you pay, the age of the property (circa 1900's) one cannot expect more. Went out of our way to 'push' the assistant manageress (on the back of previous website comments) but found her, her colleagues and the general manager warm, welcoming & professional in every way. Having just found this sight while looking for another hotel for a break i thought id leave a comment as the previous comments seem to do little for this place! We stayed with family (4 rooms)in the October Holidays and yes while the Hotel was very busy with the lights etc, the service we received from staff was excellent! The first impression of our room was small, however the room is only for sleeping in! We stayed here to see the final weekend of the lights, for this it was a prime location, however we will never go back here. Firstly room sizes are extremely small, having a small child needing a cot, this room size was unacceptable! Also rooms classed as double when the bed size was clearly 3 quarters and very very soft, nearly falling out of bed a few times!!!! The hotel was clean and well decorated. The room was quite small but was very cosy. Staff were really friendly and even though we missed our evening meal on the first night, they provided sandwiches free of charge in the bar. The barman were great! Great drink prices (8pm til 10pm £1.50 a pint!) a quiz and a bit of bingo meant a great night's entertainment. GREAT HOTEL!

Food awful, room filthy. Staff were all lovely and could not do enough for us except the Assistant Manager who thought it was beneath her to listen or take onboard our complaints. Would NEVER recommend this hotel to anyone ......................

we had a great time,food was excellent complements to the chef.Hotel staff friendly and helpful.it was my mums 60th birthday and the duty manager kindly gave her a bottle of champers at meaL time.We would definately go back again despite it being a good bit out , plenty of trams running so not a problem going into town.

Loadsa entertainment under one roof! bargain beer, happy hours, bingo, prize quizes and cheesy acts fab, fab, fab! The staff are very helpful and even managed to keep my mother happy which IS mission impossible. Clean rooms, food nice and homely. Book-it,Pack-up and ---- off!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really enjoyed my brief stay at Hacketts Hotel and am hoping to return again within the next few months for a weekend. The food was above average and plentiful, staff were very friendly and helpful and the hotel on the whole was very clean. My only complaint was that our room was tiny, more like a big cuboard. This was not really a huge problem because we were only staying for 2 night, however had our stay been longer I would have asked to be moved! Our friends had a much bigger room round the corner. The hotel was clean, nice Staff, fab Manager, very helpful and nice, food was excellent, very good entertainment (but could do with a karaoke night)we had a room with a sea view which was great but it was so cold in the room thats the only complaint i have, the little radiator was hardly adequate, the cold winds was blowing in throught the window(although it was shut), could do with double glazing.
