After reading the comments I was dreading the holiday, but on arrival was pleasantly surprised. Before this the only all inclusive we had done was in spain and there is a big difference, but when you put it in perspective this IS a budget holiday and if you want 5 star services then pay 5 star prices.
On arrival our cases were taken to our room which was basic but ample for our requirements (2 adults, 1 teenager and 1 child). The view we had over Naama Bay and the sea was spectacular. (worth the price we paid on its own). Rooms are cleaned every day and the towels turned into a different creation every day.
The food for all inclusive is not good but we had allowed for this, although the cakes were wonderful. The family we were with had a birthday whilst there and the chefs made a cake and decorated the table. I would go all inclusive again as the amount you drink due to the weather being so hot made this for us worthwhile.
We done 2 boat trips and quad biking which were booked with Mario in the dive centre and paid no more than if we had booked them elsewhere. (Be prepared to barter with him to get the best price!!)
The staff were all brilliant and couldn't do enough for us. They all work extremely long hours for very little pay but always had a smile on their faces. Our favourite was Sean in the bar. There is very little entertainment but we met up with several other english families and made our own entertainment, or went down into the bay where the nightlife is endless.
If we had a problem the manager had it sorted out as soon as he could. The only thing that would put me off going back to Egypt was the upset bellies which we were told this is usually caused by the handling of the money. (unfortunately we didn't find this out unil the end of the holiday although it didn't stop us doing anything and several people we spoke to never had any trouble)
If your're looking for a great budget holiday then I can recommend this hotel 100%. The 113 steps down to the bay aren't too bad and thats from someone who is overweight!!

Me and my girlfriend have just got back from halomy hotel, we had a very nice time in Sharm El Sheikh. We took the advice from some of the comments left on here not to go all inclusive which we are very glad we did we stayed half board and that was fine the food wasnt all that great so it gave us chance to eat elesewhere also. I would recommend this hotel to other people but for me i would go back to Sharm and try a different hotel it was very basic and the steps were a killer.

I booked our holiday thru a ccompany called sunmaster, affter coming on here and reading some of the reviews i was dreading it.
After getting to the halomy we were greeted in reception, and then taken to our room. teh rooms were bassic, but had air con, fridge and the bed was really comfy, and rooms were cleaned EVERY day.
We went all inclusive which ment you could have breakfast from 7am-10am, lunch 1pm-3pm and then dinner 7pm-10pm. and drinks from the bar were severed 11am-11pm.
Breakfast was beautiful, consisted of Pancakes, freshly cooked ommelettes, breads, cereal, fruit, anything really.
lunch and dinner were quite similar, having different salads to start, and for the main was, pasta/rice, beed, chicken, duck, fish etc, and then a wide choice of desserts. After a week or so, we did get slightly bored of the dinners, and ate out a few days, which we went to the mexican Bar, which i would deffiinetly recommend.
The people at the hotel were very very friendly and mohamed massage very very very friendy go and see mohamedl, couldnt speak perfect english, but were there to help you whenever you needed it.
As ths hotel is situated on a cliff, the view was spectacular, looking over the whole of Naama Bay and the sea!!
Every monday and Thursday they did Eqypt nights, where there would be dancers, and different foods, yes you had to pay extra, but was a lovely night.
The jetty in this hotel was beautiful, just standing on it you could see all the different types of fishes and getting in, well they were all around you!!!!.
I would deffinetly recommed visiting Cairo, the pyramids were sensational, if you go by plane or by coach, you have to go.
i would recommened this hotel, if you were looking for a basic/clean & friendly place

Our stay in this hotel was fantastic.
The hotel and rooms were kept spotless for our entire stay.
It did not take long for the staff to know our names and nothing was too much trouble.
The food was of a very good standard.
The location of the hotel was , in my opinion perfect!
If you want to go on any trips then see ahmed
This guy is 100% trustworthy and we enjoyed many trips with him.
The quad biking in the desert is a must!!!!!!!
You can go snorkelling , glass bottomed boat , stargazing , aqua park , etc etc.
We found a good friend in mohamed massage he is fantastic and we exchanged numbers so we can stay in contact.
All of the guys at the hotel are friendly and can give you great advice on what to do and where to go in sharm.
I would rate my holiday as 10/10
If you see mohamed , say hi from jason and laura.
We plan to go back in feb next year.

hotel is a little tired but I have stayed in worse, they are clean and safe and the staff are friendly and helpful.
The room we were given first did not have a balcony but overlooked the bay, we asked to change and had a new room the next day with a king sized bed and excellent view.
the steps down to Naama bay are quite tough but you soon get used to it, the plus side of it was you did not need to get taxis anywhere as it is all walking distance.
we were there bed and breakfast, which I think is the best option and some reports on the evening meal was not good.
the restaurants in Naama Bay all serve excellent food and are reasonably priced.
the hotel bar prices are fair, £5 for bottle of beer and vodka and lemonade.
the hotel pool is a fair size and very clean, not quite enough beds for everyone, so get there early!
the private beach is lovely (quite a few steps to it) there is a jetty over the corals and when you get in there is plenty of different fish to see!
I would stay in this hotel again, and recommend any couple to stay there also (not quite so good for children/babies!!!!

i was a single traveller and i went on an all inclusive deal. food was very good but sometimes got a bit samey...it was always my intention to eat in & i can honestly say that there was always something decent to eat...i did find it strange though that some of the time the choice of lunch time food was better than the evenings...the hotel was as i expected so i was happy with my choice... room was always cleaned daily & all the staff were very nice the best one is mohamed the massage he is very funy and the best massage...pool was cleaned daily...and the dreaded steps were quite easy so dont be put off by them. the location of the halomy is perfect for naama bay...the actual resort is quite small, with mainly restaurants, bars & same type souvenir shops spread over about 3 streets...although u can get a taxi to old sharm which has a market every day...the red sea is amazing, with lots of types of different fish so definately bring a snorkel...i certainly would recommend this hotel for couples, or 2 friends, but certainly not large groups who just want to lager it up all nite....would i return to sharm, if im honest, if i was travelling alone again, then no...however, if i were travelling with a friend, then yes, most certainly...i would just like to say hi & thanx to the following people i met at the halomy as we had such a laugh in the bar at nites, putting the world to rights, if i forget anybody im sorry, & these are in any order that come into my head....pete & denise, pete & pauline, matt & josie, nicola & agneska, jack & ryan, trish & jill, john & cath....there were also 4 other couples who came 2gether but the only names i can remember are dave & tracy...anyway, i had a great time...so thank u

i stayed at the Halimony on an AI basis for 2 weeks and loved every minute. We arrived late at night tired and passed ourselves but we were met with such a friendly welcome. The hotel is situated on top of a hill and the views are spectacular, the divers on a morning and the sun set on a night. The resort centre is only 5 minute walk away which is a stroll down some steps but I would not recommend for the infirm. The rooms are basic and cleaned every day, towel art and rose petals on the bed.The thing that made the holiday was the staff.Customer service is the number 1 priority. They make you feel like part of the family. If you are wanting warm & friendly this is a must .
A big thankyou to Ali,Mohamed(both),Wahlid and Hafiz and a very nice!!!!!!

My husband and I went to Egypt to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. We chose The Halomy Hotel after reading the reviews. So we got what we expected. As most people say, the hotel is in need of some TLC. The rooms were basic but very well cleaned. They had everything we needed though, shower,tv(raley watched), Air Con, comfortable beds and fresh clean bedding.
The views from the hotel were amazing and well worth staying at Halomy for. The steps into Sharm were not as bad as we were led to belive! We soon got used to them. It was only a five min stroll into the town. Because the Hotel is on the hill you can see for miles around but are not disturbed by the night life.
The hotel has access to the sea fron its own private but small beach area. (Not really a beach more like rock). The coral and the fish were out of this world. We both spent most of the holiday snorkeling which was a first for me.
We will definatley be returning to the Halomy in 2008 as we were both really happy with the hotel and the people working there. They were all so friendly. Loved it!

. My sister and I returned to Egypt for the second time and picked the Halomy (mainly because of the closness to the main strip in Naama Bay). We always book flights and accomodation seperately and never pay for transfers. When we arrive we walk out of the airport and simply find the cheapest fare - If you plan to do this never pay more than £100 - £130 (I am talkin egyptian pounds here as with all my reference to monies!) . I have heard of people paying £300+ and this is the drivers simply taking advantage!
On arriving at the Halomy we were slightly concerned by the fact that the taxi seemed to be taking us down a lot of back roads - this is just the entrance to the reception/check in area. You can walk to Naama Bay by the famous 113 steps..... alternatively you can pay £20 - £30 for a taxi. We arrived at 18.45 and it was quite dark and as with anywhere new we had reservations about everything - the layout was a bit of a maze, the reception was not as grand as the tropicanna rosetta which we stayed at last year. So we just went to our room got ready and went out for tea (and wine). Arriving back at the room said we would just make the best of the holiday.
We awoke in the morning to be very pleasantly surprised. The views were simply STUNNING and the staff were soooo friendly. Mohamed is the massage guy and we were a bit dubious at first but getting to know him through the week decided to give him a go on the last day. We both wished we'd have had massages at the beginning of the week with him. (If you happen to stay here tell him Sarah and Suzi say hello).
THE ROOMS - Basic but all that we needed. 2 beds, a fridge, tv with 24 hour movies (if you need it), Balcony to sit on and enough wardrobe space for all our clothes. The cleaner came in every day bar Sunday and done a fantastic job - left flowers he had made from the towels etc on the beds. I wouldn't really recommend these rooms if it is luxury you want though. Its hard when writting a review not to give a wrong perspective.
THE HALOMY BEACH - Yes, it is more of a rock with sand on but the snorkelling you do from here is out of this world. We actually saw more fish here than on our second boat trip to Ras Mohamed. It is peacful and secluded and once again the views are gorgeous.
THE POOL - Poolside was kept very clean and pool seemed to warm up as the week went on.
NAAMA BAY - Fantastic, If it is a boat trip you want see Gemmi at the bottom of the steps (just to the left) He helps you out with anything without being to pushy. For drinks etc the Camel Bar is a great atmosphere, best upstairs on the terrace bar though. For eats Onions steak house do a perfect fillet steak every time! Thai restaurant is recommended as well.
OTHER - Quad biking - you are only allowed in single file and not as fun as I thought it would be. Horse riding - good if you can get a horse that moves! ha ha. Boat trips - Ras Mohamad was definately better than Tiran.
One last thing needs to be said 'Terazina Beach' If you like your funky chill out music this beach cannot be missed. Bean bags on the beach are a bit strange but there are areas to lay out. Beers come in buckets of ice and the staff are very on the ball. It gets really nice here just as the sun starts to go down - a real chilled atmosphere.
Anyway I think I have gone on enough now, The Halomy is GREAT and I will hopefully be returning there in the next year

We returned from our holiday the first week of November, I had never visited Egypt before, but can recommend to anyone who is unsure about the holiday destination. All the comments from previous people are fairly accurate, the hotel is what you pay for, this hotel is rated at 3 star, which I think is more than fair.
The rooms were kept in very good condition, cleaned to a high standard everyday, the hotel staff basically made the hotel a 4 or 5 star, I was very impressed with all including the Manager of this hotel who would take time out of the day to chat to you if you asked.
We stayed on all inclusive, the food is as mentioned not the best but I have eaten much worse, I would say the standard of food in the hotel is 3 or 4 times better than mass produced school meals.
Mohammed the massage guy, aka Ricky Martin, he was one person who made our holiday, he was unbelievably amazing and a very genuine person. I had read this review site before going away and saw Miss Barker's review, and there is always 2 sides to a storey.
All in all a great holiday, at a resort that is rough round the edges, that is polished into a cubic zirconia by the very happy, helpful and cheery staff and management.

A WARNING TO ALL LADIES PLEASE READ PLEASE READ PLEASE READ PLEASE READ PLEASE READ
This review must be taken as it is intended, my friends and I recently visited the Halomy for a girls week away. We selected this hotel based on reviews and took their advice going bed and breakfast rather than all inclusive (this was indeed the best option).
The location could not have been better, the views are spectacular, the accommodation basic but adequate and most importantly clean. Breakfast slightly unusual but at the same time very Egyptian.
The staff in the most part were great particularly Mohammed who organises the parasailing etc . . . DO NOT GET HIM CONFUSED with MASSAGE MOHAMMED AKA Ricky Martin. MASSAGE MOHAMMED preys on the ladies, from the first day he was constantly in our faces (three single ladies away on holiday!), when all we wanted was some peace and relaxation.
After days of persistence he got one of us to have a full body massage which turned out to be a big MISTAKE. Without going into unnecessary detail he was rubbing more than his hands against her body, in addition to some what can only be described as explicit legs massage moves. We have officially complained to the hotel management however felt it necessary to warn people as this man is still working at the hotel as we later discovered.
Do not let this deter you from staying at the hotel however under NO CIRCUMSTANCES would we recommend using the massage service with MOHAMMED, it was the only down side to our break away.
Sharm is great fun with lots to do and a great night life, the Camel bar is not to be missed we hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Returned yesterday from a week at the Halomy, our second visit, we stayed for a week in Oct in 2006.
All in all you get what you pay for, as others have said the rooms are kept very clean, the staff are friendly, the location is stunning. It's not the Ritz, but it's not Ritz prices either. It is pretty much in need of a lick of paint and a bit of TLC, more so that last year but having said that the staff in general couldn't be friendlier and more helpful.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone who has travelled about a bit and is realistic about what to expect for their money. You also need to be reasonably fit to manage the steps up to it from Naama Bay itself. If you swim to the right from the beach there is a lovely pinnacle with a huge variety of fish on it to snorkel though beware - we watched two Titan trigger fish having a bit of a battle - amazing!

My boyfriend and I got back from this resort on Monday 1st July 2007. I have got to say that first and foremost this hotel has the best location in Naama bay, with amazing views and incredible private beach for the best snorkelling in the area.
I have to admit, also, that what you can see snorkelling you can see diving from our experiences. But that’s not to say that the diving was not worth it, it definitely was.
The food is as everyone describes, so I would highly recommend that you don’t go All Inclusive to this hotel, Naama is cheap to eat out anyway. The menu was very repetitive although you make do with what you paid for.
It isn’t that the food tasted bad, just the same every day (chicken, beef, rice, sauté veg, and soup).
Drinks are served in small glasses and it is a bit tedious having to go up to the bar more regularly, signs of frustration show in the faces of the staff also.
The staff are not overly friendly and felt myself being nicer to them than they were to me, even by the end of the week they were still asking for proof that we were AI customers and they had served us every day. They give you a plastic wristband, which after much diving and swimming gets a little damaged after a week!!
The location does come at a price, the amount of steps leading up to it can be a problem, so those who need accessible resorts please bare this in mind.
Our room was at the top of these steps on the right hand side (room 116) right by the security office, so top marks for level of security.
All in all for the cost of the hotel, it was good value for money. I would rate it a 3 star.
The rooms were very clean and cleaned every day. Leave a tip for the cleaner and he will leave a nice surprise in return. Showers were fine, and ladies there are hairdryers but take your own you will not regret it!
The Halomy Hotel is good for families and couples but I would not return to this hotel. However, I had an amazing time and brought back incredible pictures and memories.

Just got back from Halomy hotel what can I say about the Halomy that you haven’t already heard?
The hotel is really good if you want a relaxing holiday lounging by the pool as we did.
The steps into Naama Bay weren’t a problem at all five minutes at a strolling pace and you were at the bottom chatting to the guy who organises the boat trips!
The food at the Halomy wasn’t the best thing about the hotel but we never went hungry. We were half board but would book bed and breakfast next time we ate in the bay most nights, the Mexican at the Naama Bay hotel was great with karaoke and TV whilst you eat!
The hassle from the traders was nowhere near as bad as you may have been told, give them a smile and just say no thanks if you don’t want to see what they have to offer.
Overall the Halomy has got the best location in the whole of Sharm the views are excellent.
The staff around the pool are great couldn’t do enough. Can’t believe how long they work each day. Michael at the bar was super, after the first day or so he remembered what you liked to drink and always had a smile. Too many names to remember, but they were all fantastic.
Try the henna tattoos. Memo will do it again for you for free before you go home to make sure you get your money’s worth and a tattoo to show your friends.
Overall a brill holiday we would go back to the Halomy tomorrow. Enjoy your holiday at the Halomy Hotel we definitely did.

Me and my boyfriend arrived home from Sharm last week, we had a fantastic time and will definitely be going back. We will stay at the halomy as we felt that it was very good value for money. Although next time we will not go all inclusive as we didn't think that was worth it.
The food at the hotel was edible and sometimes nice, it is so cheap to eat in town and so much nicer. I think next time we will just do bed and breakfast. Also all inclusive only includes fizzy drinks, no fruit juices and finishes at the bar at 11pm. We were out most day’s scuba diving and snorkelling so missed lunch at the hotel but lunch was always provided on the boats.
The staff at the hotel are very good, always willing to help and very friendly. Tip little and often.
The hotel is clean which is the main thing and the view makes up for any bad points. A few people were complaining about different things when we were there but I think as long as you don't expect the Ritz and just take it as it comes it is a lovely place. When I was looking at different hotels around Sharm I didn't see one I would rather stay at, all in all I think the halomy is great value for money.
Things I would recommend:
Scuba diving is a must even if you have never been before!!
Snorkelling at the private beach (or rock) is amazing!
Quad biking in the desert (ask Mohammed to sort it)
Camel ride in the desert (again ask Mohammed)
Day boat trip to Thiron Island (that probably spelt wrong)
Also make sure you ask around for prices before you buy or book anything. Some things we thought were really cheap turned out to be much cheaper somewhere else! And if any of the shop keepers in town asks you to sign his guest book in his shop don't go unless you want to buy something!! You have been warned!
Old Sharm is very cheap but I wouldn't go back, as you walk down the street you will get hassled constantly which does get extremely annoying. The people will be friendly but please remember they only want your money!
Go and see Gimmi down the stairs on the way to town. He can book exertions for you much cheaper and they are great. We only found him two days before we left but next time we will use him from the beginning. (At the bottom of the stairs and to the right)
Before we went we read all of these reviews about the hotel and lots of people were complaining about the steps to town. I don't know what we were expecting but when we saw them we laughed at the fact that people were complaining about them. Anyone that is healthy with any level of fitness will have no problem what so ever! I came away from that holiday having lost weight not gaining any!
Hope this has helped! Enjoy!
