On a cliff top with spectacular views over Naama Bay and the sea. The energetic can walk down a series of steps into the centre of Naama Bay in a few minutes. Alternatively, you can take a 2km taxi drive into the centre. There is a small man made terrace and a private beach which can be accessed by steps from the hotel.

I have just returned from the Halomy Hotel, Sharm el Sheikh. I couldn't have asked for a better fortnight. We were fortunate enough to be moved from another hotel in Hadaba where there is very little happening to the Halomy which is right in Naama Bay where all the action is, but far enough away from the noise to get a good nights sleep.

The hotel was wonderful, with its lovely view of the Bay, a private beach a few steps away and its comfortable air-conditioned rooms. We were half board so that meant that breakfast and dinner were both included every day. The food was lovely, with a wide selection of dishes to choose from and you will especially like breakfast if you have a sweet tooth.

What made the trip had to be the staff. Ahmed the receptionist was so helpful and sings a wonderful version of My Heart Will Go On by Celine Dion amongst other songs! I wouldn’t go back to the Halomy without getting a relaxing massage from Mohamed, who works by the pool and Mimo, the henna tatooist is also brilliant at what he does. They were great fun when we chatted to them by the pool and we can't wait to see them again when we go back next year! The rooms are very clean and the staff always left towel art in our bedroom which was a nice surprise every day. An important thing to remember is to tip the staff as they seem to rely on these quite heavily. An average wage over there is £30/month!

One of the highlights of our holiday was a day trip to Ras Mohammed by boat where we snorkelled and saw all of the spectacular fish that Sharm has to offer. We booked this very cheaply through Bob in the diving centre who provided us with all the equipment, a lovely meal and guided us throughout the trip. The day trip, with everything included only cost something like £15 and there were also diving trips available.

I went to Sharm in a group of four girls and we had the time of our lives but the resort also seemed like it would be a lovely place for couples to go to.

This was a lovely hotel in a fantastic surrounding. Situated on the cliff top over Naama Bay you have an amazing view of the bay yet are not disturbed by the hustle and bustle of this busy place. The hotel is like a little village with lots of chalet style rooms. There is an entrance hall into the bedroom with attached bathroom. There is a dive centre on site and also a mini market and silver shop.

The staff are very friendly and like to get to know you. The food is lovely and a varied choice for both breakfast and dinner - we also had lunch one day which was just as good and you can always order from the bar menu. They also do a BBQ. There are steps down to a private beach where there is some amazing reef for snorkeling but if you don't fancy this the pool is great with plenty of sun loungers.

There are exactly 113 steps down in to Naama Bay and this in total about a 10 minute walk into the centre. These are probably not suitable for the elderly but it is by no means like Everest! I would definitely recommend this hotel and go back there again.

The location of this hotel is the best in Sharm. It sits on the cliff top with views over the whole of Naama Bay and the surrounding dessert. The hotel has a sunbathing area down by the reef but no sandy beach. This is more than compensated for by it's own coral reef that stretches for over half a mile along the coast and is outstanding. If you want to go snorkeling this is the place as it far better than the sandy cove of Naama Bay.

The Hotel is five minutes walk down the steps into the centre of Naama Bay. The gardens of the hotel are well kept however the hotel itself could do with a makeover as it looks a little tired. The food is healthy and simple and we never found ourselves stuck for choice. Through the day there is a snack bar which serves burgers, pizzas, kebabs & salads.

What the hotel lacks in decor is more than made up by the staff. The staff are fantastic and will do anything for you. I cannot praise them enough.

It was a group of us girls that stayed at this hotel. First impressions, its like a mini complex, with a mini market, internet cafe etc.

When we first arrived and got our room, our air con wasn't working, which was making us more annoyed as it was so hot! We finally got that fixed. Rooms are basic, I don’t really know where they got a 4 star hotel rating from!

Service by the pool at lunch time was terrible, it took ages everyday. We always had to order like an hour before we wanted to eat! Dinner was nice for the first couple of days, then after that, there was no variation, so we just ate out.

We had an incident one night where the hotel has seats outside over looking the cliff and bay, and we all wanted to sit there with some wine, and the bar man said no, we were not allowed to sit there, with no reason at all. The general manager is a lovely man, and the cleaner made us happy every time we cam back to our rooms. The private beach that is advertised with this hotel is not a beach at all, its a small cliff with a metal ladder going in to the water. Went there once, was quite disappointed with that.

Some nights they do the dinner around the pool, food on these nights were really nice as it was an outdoor barbeque, and a wide variation.

The pool was very clean and nice.

Don’t buy the Daily Mirror by the man who sells it by the pool. He charges 30 Egyptian pounds (£3.00) for last weeks Mirror! Lol

wow this hotel was amazing! The staff were so friendly and helpful they really did make the holiday! The room was very basic but nothing you couldn't handle as all the good points out did the bad. Ignore the comments about the huge amount of steps into the town, they are next to nothing!

Our holiday rep ossama was a great help and did everything he could to help. There were so many trips and things to do, you'll never get bored! It is hot but there is a constant breeze. Mustafa, Ibrahim and mo were just great people to be around and you're never short of a giggle.

Two days after coming back I have already booked for July, that's how much I loved it!

Just got back from Halomy Hotel - have to say first impressions were bad, we had been given rooms on 1st floor and had to climb lots of steps that were very poorly lit, however once we had changed rooms for ground floor ones we were fine. The hotel grounds are quite uneven and badly lit at light but I have to say these were the only negative points.

The food was ok and we didn't starve but we did eat in Naama Bay every night just for some variation - the food is so cheap it is worth it. The rooms are fine and we had a great view over the bay and the beach (we were in rooms 107 and 108) and the pool is good and despite the reviews about not being served quickly at the bar because we were AI we never had a problem.

The staff really couldn't do enough to make you happy and they really made a fuss of our 7 year old son. There are some steps down to Naama Bay (112 to be exact) but they are well spaced out and my 74 year old mother managed them every day sometimes twice!

The hotel beach is not much but at the bottom of the steps mentioned there is a fantastic public beach where the sun beds are free and you can walk straight into the sea, there are also great water sports on offer and the glass bottom boat is well worth the 40 Egyptian pounds (about 4.00 English). The weather was fab very hot but the air conditioning in rooms and restaurant/bar was excellent. Overall we had a great holiday and would stay here again no problem.

Some good places to eat in Naama Bay - Spaghettisimo , Hard Rock Cafe, Camel Bar, La Favorita (above McDonalds), Ali Baba's, and on the marine road there is a great beach bbq. Hope this helps - have a great holiday, we did!!!!!!!

Hey Just got back from Sharm!

Didn’t know what to expect as I had read some disappointing reviews on here! However the hotel is excellent! The food is basic (beef, chicken, rice, chips, salad, pasta) and other things) but it’s a basic country!

The rooms are nice, cleaned everyday, views are really good! There is a shop and internet cafe on site! Very cheap!

The centre is a 5 min walk down the steps, and the centre is amazing as well!

Overall good trip would definitely book this hotel again!

It was my first time to Egypt so didn’t really know what to expect.

The weather was fantastic slightly windy in the second week but that is expected when your on top of a cliff.

The location is probably the best thing about the hotel, it is about 10 15 minute walk to the shopping centers and bars but the steps leading down to them are quite steep but there is a bench half way down.

The rooms were basic but very clean and the staff would always make your room nice and tidy, folding your clothes as well as the folding of the towels which was really nice.

All of the staff were really friendly and helpful, especially the reception staff.

There was nothing to do at the hotel except snorkeling, so at times it was a bit boring just sitting around, but there was plenty of trips to go on which you could book through your reps at the hotel.

We went all inclusive, but I think it would have been better to have gone half board and to pay for our dinner separately, because the food you bought was a lot better than the food that was being served.

Breakfast was the best meal of the day especially the pancakes and omlettes that were made fresh in front of you.

There was hardly any choice at dinner time, it looked more like leftovers from the day before.

Evening meal was a bit better but still not that much choice,

Apart from when they cooked the meals to be served outside then the food was really nice and a lot of choice.

All inclusive drinks were served from 11am till 11pm, you could get juice with breakfast, but if you wanted lemonade you would have to wait until 11am or pay for it, the choice of alcoholic drinks was limited, beer, vodka, whisky, rum and gin, but very often they ran out of tonic for the gin.

All drinks were served in small glasses including the beer, and sometimes the staff would get a bit annoyed if you kept on going up for more drinks, even though it was all inclusive.

If I went back to that hotel I would have to go half board, but i think i would more likely choose a different hotel.

Beautiful setting & views & for those able to do the steps an excellent place for access into Naama sadly that's where it ends, the hotel, grounds and furnishings are very tired as are some of the staff. The pool area and beach terrace are good.

With a very relaxed atmosphere and after our disappointing start we did have a good holiday but beware if you're AI you'll struggle to get served especially round the pool!

All inclusive is not to be recommended, the food is very basic both in quality and choice although lunchtime offers good desserts!!

The receptionist is excellent and will do all he can to help with problems, fortunately our rep was also brill and made our holiday more enjoyable. Mohammed who pesters for his 'massage business' is entertaining and the massage is well worth bartering for.

If you're looking for a no frills hotel in a central position this would fit the bill, restaurants and bars are in no short supply!!

Location fantastic and staff very helpful. The down side to this hotel is the rooms, they are in need of updating the beds are the oldest and hardest I have ever slept on also be warned the pool is not heated and colder than the sea not many people braved it when we were staying.

The food was not very good, you would be better off staying B and B and walking the short distance to the town to eat, Hard Rock great and cheap.

If the rooms, beds and general decor were improved I would give it a 9.

We've just got back from our holiday, the weather was great, only 2 cloudy days in the 2 weeks we were there (not bad considering it's winter in Egypt!).

I would recommend the Halomy, but not for children. My 2 are 14 and 12 and they were bored at times - other than sunbathing and snorkelling there's little else to do (not that I was complaining!) The pool was too cold to go in too often, it could do with heating in Winter, if only by a few degrees.

The staff were lovely - in particular Tota, Ibrahim, Mustafa and Mohammed. The guy who cleaned our room every day was a star - anything left around was neatly folded and put away (we tried not to be too messy!)

The rooms are nice and spacious, having their own entrance (ours had a stunning view over the bay) but a bit basic - the hotel is supposed to be only 14 years old, but you would think it was nearer 30. An overhaul is overdue!

The food was a bit variable - sometimes it was lovely, other times we would have gone hungry if it weren't for the lovely soft fresh bread rolls available at every meal. Breakfasts were the worst - don't expect an English style fry up! There's a guy who makes fresh omelettes and pancakes every morning - we soon got into the habit of having a fried egg in a roll, yummy!

The only major reservation I have with the Halomy is safety. The grounds, although lovely, are very uneven and not lit up very well at night. I tripped and fell the first night we were there and ended up with 2 badly bruised and swollen knees. The hotel isn't suitable for those with walking difficulties - I didn't have any problems with mobility before I got there.....

The hotel beach is a stunning place - I don't like swimming in the sea as I'm not very confident in water, but you couldn't get me out of the sea there! There's a jetty going into the water with steps at the end down into the sea - 2 strokes out and you're in 15ft deep crystal clear water - the snorkelling is out of this world! Take an underwater camera with you - you'll be amazed what you see!

If you're on a budget, try the Halomy - if your expectations aren't too high (it's nowhere near a 4 star hotel) you won't be disappointed.

Bev Lewis.

Fantastic time, just got back, the weather very hot mid 80's, with warm breeze on the beach terrace.

The room was large and spacious, and the room service perfect, clean bed linen & towels every day. Towel art & flowers on the bed every day was a work of art.

The food all buffet style was always fresh with lots of choice, Beef, Chicken and Fish, also pasta, pizza and rice, a large selection of salad and hot vegetables. a wide selection of Desserts and fresh fruit, also special BBQ night with entertainment. although it was extra( we were all inclusive) it was only 50 Egyptian pounds about £5.00, but good value for money.

The staff are very helpful and friendly and nothing is to much trouble for them.

Ismal on the beach was friendly and although shy enjoyed talking about English football.

Since the bombing this year they management & staff are very eager to show that being in Sharm El Sheik, is very safe.

The boat trips are a must as the guides are very professional and helpful.

We will definitely go back to Sharm el Sheikh and stay at the Halomy Hotel.

And yes Mohammad's massages are magic, not to be missed.

A good tourist class hotel, definitely not 4*, however, that said we spent a very good week at the hotel. The staff are very attentive, the food is ok and plentiful.

The view of Naama Bay is spectacular by day and by night. The back drop of the mountains as the sun shifts around is wonderful and the lights of the town by night are just as impressive. I agree with the person who wrote if that was the South of France you would pay a fortune for the view alone.

The steps down to the bay are manageable but not good for those who have poor mobility. The same goes for the "beach" area, however the house reef in the bay is wonderful but the steps made of tubular steel are a bit unsafe when wet.

Not good for under 7's I would say because of the safety standards, however, as long as you keep an eye on them they would be made very welcome by the staff.

You may read this and think the comments negative but I am only being realistic. I will return to this hotel again.

Give in to Mohamed when he starts his pitch about taking a massage because it is worth it, you will be relaxed all your hols.

My daughter and I stayed at this hotel in June 2005 and had a fantastic time. It was our third visit to Sharm in 8 months but our first at the Halomy. The staff could not have been more helpful. The food was very good. Rooms are adequate. It was very relaxing and friendly. It isn’t suitable for children but only due to the man made beach.

The view is wonderful. The framed photo of our last morning sunrise on my living room wall is what makes going to work every day worth it, knowing we are going back in Feb-Mar 2006. John was right, you would pay a fortune elsewhere (remember us, maybe see you next year lol ). And yes Mohammed’s massages are to die for.
