Churchill Hotel

I was really worried about staying here after reading the other reviews but I was very pleasantly surprised. The matter on which I agree with the other reviewers is the car park, it isn't very good at all, very difficult to get in and out of. Aside from that though it was great! Stayed at Churchill's for a weekend in July 06 with my husband. We'd seen a negative review on this site after booking, so arrived with some trepidation! When booking, we'd been given a choice of one of the un-refurbished rooms for £60ish per night, or a refurbished one at £80 per night. We'd chosen the refurbished room, and it was absolutely fine. Booked 6 weeks in advance for no smoking room. Reception doubles as bar. Full payment demanded before guest is able to see room. Rooms to 4th floor by stairs, no lift ,not suitable for any one less than 100% fit. Room tatty complete with ashtray,wallpaper coming off walls and ceiling ,dirty cistern, shower doesnt drain and cuts out after 1 minute. kettle flex 1 ft long had to be switched on by socket next to bathroom door at floor level.
